Mayflower - 3/4" x 3-1/4"  Millrun Hickory Solid Hardwood Flooring- 15 Year Warranty

Hickory greatly separates itself from other wood species by its great color variation which begins from light tan to reddish/ dark brown tones with dramatic grain patterns.
Its unique appearance, the combination of its hard density and moderate coarse open grain, make it just as appropriate in a contemporary high rise loft as it is in a log cabin.
It is also ideal for high traffic areas and kid's rooms.

What is "Millrun Grade?"
Millrun Grade has some color variation, mineral coloring and small knots. It can also be referred to as Natural, #1 or 2nd grade.

        • Home

The worst part about this product is the 3 1/4" end of the tongue side or short side had random pieces that were out of square. These boards were hard to discover until after it was installed. Some of the tongues were not cut well and were too thick. I also had issue with several boxes that were primarily 12" to 14" in length. The look of the floor is great but you have to be careful while installing not to put down a piece that is out of square.

I used this on the main level of my home. We have a lot of traffic so durability was important. The variation in color is beautiful. I was concerned that there may be a lot of waste bc it was mill run(not best quality). I had very little waste. I have 9 boxes left and I went with less than they estimated.

                A:

Lumber Liquidators recommends floating floors -flooring not attached to the subfloor- for radiant heat applications. To ensure performance, the consumer should be aware of risks associated with nailing or gluing solid wood over radiant heat and ensure product selection and installation practices are appropriate for the application. If you choose to use solid wood, select quarter-sawn or rift-sawn materials. Note that even using solid wood species with known positive dimensional *stability characteristics than others, cannot predictably be guaranteed to perform well in every application. In addition, radiant systems if not monitored and controlled properly can negatively impact the long term finish performance of wood flooring and may result in finish chipping, peeling or hazy finish.

Here are the recommended choices for in-floor heating:

Floating floors - Most recommended because these types of floorings are installed over an underlayment and not attached or fixed to the subfloor. The flooring is free to move as a total unit to better accommodate subfloor movement and environmental fluctuations (moisture and temperature).

Engineered flooring –Works well over radiant heat because its unique plywood construction creates greater stability as each wood layer is positioned perpendicular to the other thereby resisting movement from environmental fluctuations (Depending on the selection can be nailed, glued or floated over the subflooring). If choosing engineered flooring for a radiant heat application, the consumer is advised to select a product constructed using a relatively stable wood species on the top surface. Consult your local Lumber Liquidators store or customer care for assistance if needed.

Can this product be floated over a concrete slab

                A:

Yes but only if you use Elastilon as your installation system. Otherwise a plywood subfloor base would would need to be installed.

Elastilon Self Adhesive Underlayment is a good option for any flat subfloor. You can use up to 3/4" thick or thinner solid or tongue and groove engineered flooring (works best with 1/2" or thicker). Floating with Elastilon needs to have an expansion break for spans over 33' on it's width, but not length.

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Subfloor needs to be 3/4" plywood, PS2 rated OSB (Oriented strand board), Sturdi-Floor, or other approved hardwood flooring subfloor for naildown installation. 15lb felt paper or White Silicone paper should be used if over a basement or crawl space. For 2nd floor or higher only red rosing paper to aid installation. Insulating underlayment like Eco Sound or Bellawood Supreme may be used for naildowns.

                A:

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

This is a polyurethane finish and has an (aluminum oxide) high abrasion sealer which is tested to meet at least 550 cycles using taber abrasion test and is micro-beveled on all four sides.
