Quick Installation Tips:
- Store flooring flat for 48 hours in its original packaging at room temperature.
- Must be installed over a clean, stable, flat, smooth, and dry surface.
- Moisture barrier is required for installations over concrete.
- Make sure the panels are mixed sufficiently when you install them so that you do not end up with too many identical, light or dark panels next to each other.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
Laminates having pre-attached padding can be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of our Bellawood Premium underlayment or ECO Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments will best support the joints while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities and are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

St. James Collection's Advantages:
- No glue and no nails needed
- Easy Click Installation
- Moisture resistant board
- Thickness: 12mm + 3mm (1/8") pre-glued underlayment
- AC Rating: 3

great product for a reasonable price, love the look, could use more durability as once the floor gets a deep scratch it cannot be repaired or replaced without removing entire floor, but I still love it, I installed it for the second time as my first one was ruined in a flooding due to busted water pipe, very happy with my choice.

I did my downstairs, roughly 750 square feet. When I saw it in the store I absolutely loved it and bought it before even taking a sample home. The guy who worked in the store was very, very nice. Very informative. He walked us through the timing, tools, etc necessary to do the floors ourselves but in the end we went with the person that they recommended for us, Anthony from ASAP and I'm really glad that we did. They got it done in 2 days, were super nice and I would absolutely recommend them too. My floors look really, really good. I did totally flood my laundry room the same night it was finished and it really warped the floors so be careful with the watery areas. It did take a lot of water and sat in it overnight though, so that was probably more of a me problem than a floor problem. Based on the recommendations from the Lumber Liquidators guy we had more than enough left over to have the contractor come and fix it, which he did right away. Overall, great experience and I love my new floor.

The product is very pretty with a lot of natural variation. It was easy to install, even for a first timer. The floor seams are very sensitive to moisture and can cause the laminate to bubble. The flooring is also extremely glossy and shows and dirt, hair, or smudges very obvious. For the price a decent product.

We bought St James laminate for a bedroom floor. We could not get it to pop together and lie flat. We solved the problem by going out and buying large clamps and glue and then weighting the boards with the unopened cartons of laminate. In trying to get the boards to lock we damaged a couple of pieces. The pad from the kit broke. We went on line for reviews, and though our specific problem wasn't mentioned, people had trouble getting the pieces to stay together as they worked. Since ours were glued, we sidestepped that issue.
The floor looks very nice, but we won't know whether our method was the best or not for some time.

We installed this flooring in our kitchen when were completely remodeling the kitchen. This flooring is unfortunately under our cabinets. I accidently had a vase tip over and spill water on to the floor while I was at work. The damage was done. I have warped marks in the groves of the flooring in front of my bar area. We were going to put this in our entry way but I would not reccomend it at all for this area. You have to be so careful with water on the floor. The salesman recommended this floor for our kitchen but it is not a suitable flooring for a kitchen.

We installed 1200 sq.ft. of the above laminate, we used a heating mat in the kitchen with no problem. Used a good underlayment although the laminate has a 10mm padding. Check every piece because it is high gloss defects are not easy to see until it is layed down. I did have 80 planks with a corner defect but LL credited the amount so the project could move forward. No problem here the floor is amazing, beautiful, easy to clean with bellawood cleaner (dry mop) the flooring is 2 months old but easy and beautiful so far. I am installing in both bedrooms soon.Love this floor!! Just check every piece!!

Yes. However protect the flooring when moving the treadmill and use floor protection; pads under the unit or a throw rug. When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.

I plan to install this flooring in a 31'x 14' room with adjoining hallway that is 6.25' x 29' that runs parallel to the room. Does the placement of a T-joint have to be crosswise in the middle of the room? If I allow the 1/2" expansion at all sides of flooring and at the 2 doors onto the hallway put a T-joint, would that be sufficient for expansion? I really don't want to break up the room with a raised joint across it. Also, does it make any difference which direction the boards run?

Generally flooring looks best when installed the long way in the room.

Expansion gaps are recommended by the manufacturer for anything over 27'. You might be okay with your plan however if you have major expansion/contraction because of the climate in the building you may experience gapping or at the worst separating joints. This would be an at your own risk situation, not covered by the manufacturer warranty.

Product: St james collection African Mahogany
Since this product is water resistant, is it safe to use the Shark Professional liftaway pocket steam mop #s3901 on it if we use the "dust" mode as recommended by Shark? We have had this flooring for about 2 years and are getting really tired of following a "mop" with a towel on our hands and knees. Please let me know. Thanks.

                                    A:

Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.

                                    The following cleaning principles are recommended for all of our products -Hardwood, Laminates, Corks, Bamboo and other Exotics. Outlined are examples of the reasonable and necessary maintenance to be performed; this is only intended to be a basic list;
                                    • Immediately after installation, be certain that the flooring is completely cleaned and dry as described below. If you must protect the flooring from traffic, use only “craft” paper, brown, red or white, this will allow the flooring to “breathe”. Do not fully cover the flooring. NEVER lay plastic of any kind or any other non-porous material over the flooring as this can trap moisture, harm the flooring or fade the finish.
                                    • Sweep or vacuum regularly, since built-up dirt, grit and sand can damage the surface of the wood. If using a vacuum, use a soft brush attachment -NOT A BEATER BAR ATTACHMENT. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. When using a broom be certain that bristles are soft. You can also use a dry mop.
                                    • Because of the myriad of cleaning products available and methods of each application, Lumber Liquidators cannot endorse or oversee the use of any Brand Name of floor cleaner. We do recommend cleaning products safe for urethane finishes such as our Bellawood floor cleaner.
                                    • The use of a changeable terry cloth type system to clean the floor is highly recommended; apply cleaning solution to the terry cloth not the floor.
                                    • NEVER use oil soaps, liquid, or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, Tung oil, silicone, or ammonia on pre-finished flooring. The use of these products will harm the long-term performance and appearance of your floor and may affect future re-coating. (Damages caused by non-recommended cleaning products are not covered by warranties). NOTE: This also includes the use of vinegar and water solutions as water can damage wood. Vinegar is an acidic element that can have an oxidizing, caustic effect on the finish.
                                    • In an effort to clean hardwood floors, many have experimented with a variety of cleaners on the market and end up with a new problem. “How to remove the build-up of cleaning products revealing the original surface"? If this is the case with you, we recommend consulting with a professional cleaner local to your area because they can best see the details involved and make the most accurate recommendations. If you choose to remove the layers of build-up yourself, use cotton rags instead of a mop to control the amount of liquid used.
                                    • NEVER wet-mop, damp-mop, swab or flood your floor with water or any other product. Moisture can seep into the seams causing edge-cupping damage. Urethane floors do not require wet mopping. Natural floors are water resistant, not water proof. Remove all spills promptly using a soft, slightly damp cloth
                                    • STEAM CLEANERS OR WET-JET swiffer; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.
                                    • Do place protective mats at entry doors to keep dirt, grit, sand and moisture from being track in from the outside.
                                    • Do use area rugs in heavily traveled areas and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.), especially if you have a large family or indoor pets.
                                    • When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
                                    • Take reasonable precautions; use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects such as furniture and appliances.
                                    • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents. Check and replace wore pads regularly.
                                    • Keep pet’s nails trimmed, and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains.
                                    • Scratches, dents and cupping are site related, not considered a manufactured defect.

My parents purchased African Mahogany laminate a year ago and have stored it in their unconditioned garage. The have now realized that that was a mistake - after we told them that several times. Anyway, is it possible that any of the laminate is salvageable? If so, what are the signs to look for in the laminate to know if it is good or bad?

The laminate should be clean, flat and not discolored I would try putting some planks together to see if it looks good and is tight and stays connected.
