Virginia Mill Works Co.- 3/4" x 3-5/8" Amber Acacia Prefinished Handscraped Solid Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works handscraped floors.

About Handscraped Flooring:
Handscraped or distressed hardwood floors have a natural worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.
Please note this product is a nominal 3/4" thick, but due to its scraping process the thickness may be as thin as 5/8" in the scraped areas.

The wood is not quite as dark as it appears on the website. That was a slight disappointment to me because I wanted a greater contrast from my Clear finished Maple cabinets, but frankly speaking the wood grain is so pretty, I got over it quickly. Wood has many more knots than I had expected. I actually like knots but if you are someone who doesn't like knots....this wood will not work for you. The knots give the floor a bit more of an informal feel, which I liked. Yet I felt the wood was elegant, at least compared to the tile we pulled up. But if you are looking for that formal feel, go with a cherry or something similar.

Overall millwork was outstanding. We bought for 10% waste. Didnt need that much so I ended up with several extra boxes. I'd say plan on 5% waste. Had probably 6-10 pieces of wood that were unusable due to color (they were literally full blonde) or mars in the wood that the manufacturer tried to cover up with resin or wood putty. Had a handful of pieces that were damaged or marred. Floor guys won't use these but they could be used if you wanted to cut out the damage. If I was putting in the floor, Ids use them and just cut the damaged areas out. But on this installation I had it installed so those pieces were waste. Overall, I've seen worse when it comes to unusable pieces so I thought overall they did pretty well with the quality of the wood.

Overall I was very pleased with the quality of the product and the look. My floor guys told me numerous times that this was the best looking floor they'd ever put in....unsolicited. So to me, if you like knots, and a currently not widely used wood for flooring, this is a great choice.

I have a dog and although I am certain that if we allowed her to damage the floor, she could. But her just walking through the rooms....we've seen no issues. So wood is pretty hard as well.

I think this is an excellent choice, and moderately priced.
