put this over old hardwood in 50 year old house, - much better than carpet, - very easy install, no underlayment necessary in this instance, - no sawdust to clean up, - whats not to like?

Good/cheap floors

By Chris

from Boston, MA

I bought this for a rental property that we just purchased. I paid about $1.29/sq feet on sale and it was a good investment. The condo has carpet and it had to go. Installed in livingroom and kitchen and it looks good. I had a friend who works on floors install this for me. I helped install a few pieces so that I could learn and do it in my sun room in my house. It was easy to install. I also bought the foam under layment and didn't need the vapor barrier.

I had people think it was real wood when they viewed my condo. I think it's a lot better than laminate since it handles water better than laminate and doesn't feel cheap.

The only thing I didn't like is that when I went to Swiffer after the renovations, you can see swirl marks of the area you cleaned. You probably have to use water and use straight sweeps. Also it can be easily scratched/gouged as well. I guess that can happen on any flooring.

You get what you pay for

By Unhappy customer

from St. Albans WV

Pros

  • cheap

Cons

  • Poorly selected grain pattern

Best Uses

There were 4 distinct grain patterns that showed up on most pieces. Made it impossible to lay the tile in a manner where the repeating grain patterns weren't obvious. Would it have been so difficult as to include a wider variety of grain patterns? They should have also not included such a limited number of bold and distinct grain markings. I actually had named for several of them, oval, spear, oil lamp, etc. I spent far more time trying to select the appropriate piece so as to not match an adjacent or nearby piece as I did actually snapping the floor together. Cutting straight across the strips are easy, but cutting out any sort of angle is a pain in the butt.

Love this in master bedroom and bath

    By pearlz

    from Fleming Island, FL

    Verified Reviewer

My house has a large master bedroom and bath. However, the carpet in the bedroom was gross and the bath had yucky vinyl. I searched a lot and settled on Lumber Liquidators 4MM Black Mountain vinyl plank. It turned out aweseom! The vinyl can handle small amounts of water from getting in and out of the shower. If ever there is a flood it can be unclicked, dried and put down again. 50 year warrantee! My installer had no problem. My 2 pomeranians have not damaged it. One was a puppy, so there were piddles etc. that wiped up easily and left no mark. It is not cold like tile. (My house is on a slab.) Very pleased.

    Excellent Product

    By Number 2

    Pros

    • Easy To Install

    Cons

      Best Uses

Great floor with great warranty. Put this in our kids bedroom and it looks great. Wife wants to do the rest of the house. Easy to install with a little common sense. Yes they are a little hard to "click" together. Do you want the flooring to come apart. This was the first vinyl floor I laid and I did it in just about 3 3/4 hrs. The guy in at the store said it would take about 3. I am happy with the product and the salesman at the store were very easy to work with. Did not try and push me into any tools or extras I did not need. Even got the product to me a week before they said they would.

        Service and delivery comments:

Delivered a week ahead of schedule.

Is a threshold required for a certain length for stability? And should a hallway be laid lengthwise or can it be horizontally done? Which is more eye pleasing?

Yes; For rooms larger than 50' in any direction, the use T-moldings is required to account for the normal movement or expansion of the floor.
Personally; I like to have the planks run lengthwise down a hall when possible.

 Sweep or vacuum the floor regularly. Use vacuum designed for hard surface floors that do not have beater bar. The beater bar should be turned off.
 Do not use polishes, waxes, harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on this floor.
 Wipe up spills immediately with a damp cloth.

            A:

This flooring has temperature requirements that may not hold up in a motorhome. For best performance, maintain room temperature of 55°F- 95°F. ideally 65°F-75°F. Excess cold or heat can affect tightness of floor seams.

In addition, floating floors may shift in a moving vehicle. I recommend contacting a coach/camper manufacturer.
