NIRVANA Plus by Dream Home- 10mm Boa Vista Brazilian Cherry Laminate Flooring- 25 Year Warranty

Dream Home's Nirvana line of laminate floors will fill your home with harmonious style.
Nirvana Laminate Flooring StructureThis product has it all: a 10mm moisture-resistant core PLUS a 2mm pre-glued sound-proofing foam underlay, the feel of real wood grain and a 25 year warranty.

Quick Installation Tips:
- Designed for glue-less laying, and must be laid as a "floating floor".
- Subfloor must be clean, flat, smooth, and level.
- Moisture barrier is required for installations over concrete.
- Make sure the panels are mixed sufficiently when you install them so that you do not end up with too many identical, light or dark panels next to each other.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ADDITIONAL PADDING:
Laminates having pre-attached padding can also be installed over an underlayment. When doing so, Lumber Liquidators recommends the use of Bellawood Platinum, Bellawood Premium, Quiet Walk or the Eco Silent Sound underlayment. These quality underlayments offer best joint/seam support while ensuring superior thermal sound reduction qualities, these properties are highly recommended for use with condominium associations, project planners and building specifiers.

NIRVANA Flooring Advantages:
- Real wood grain
- No glue and no nails needed
- Easy Click Installation
- Moisture resistant board

Looks great but tough to install

Having the 2 mm pad was both a blessing and a curse. On a lot of the boards, the pad would overlap the tongue and as such wouldn't lock in properly. It's easy enough to cut a little strip of the pad off but that's time consuming when you're laying down 1000+ sq ft. The locking system for this floor wasn't very efficient. I thought that I was doing something wrong because it was my first go at installing floors, but two contractors and an experienced family member later I realized that the floor was the problem.

When the floor is done it looks great but it's just not easy to get there.

It's a great floor esspecially for the price. There was no farting around with the underlay padding. By going pre padded I saved myself atleast 50 cents a foot. Also it has a 25 year warrenty which is nice with laminate flooring.

                      • Whole house

I used this product in approximately 1100 sq feet which included a very odd shaped living/dining room and three bedrooms. This is the home I have done laminate installation by myself and this product was much easier and better quality. Beware, there are occasional pieces that will just not fit the tongue and groove. Don't fight with them, just consider them scrap. There was very little waste in the end product.

I had a professional carpet cleaner in to clean the carpet I left on the stairs and hallway and he was certain the laminate was actually a wood floor. Great compliment.

The color is a little more difficult to keep clean than a lighter color but I have two dogs and there are no scratches from them. Only scratches when I moved very heavy old furniture without felts on the legs. If you drop something with a sharp edge it will leave a divit so invest in a filler and wood color kit. It is no different than any other laminate in that way.

Very pleased with the product and the installation ease. Especially pleased with the price and the end result.

                      • Nook

We had LL install this for an insurance rebuild in our entry way, hall, dining room & nook. I bought it online, with only the picture and other recommendations as my guide. All in all, we're very happy with our purchase.

Our cement slab isn't completely level, and even though we bought the Bellawood premium underlayment, I can still feel the floor give in certain areas. That's the fault of our slab, not the product, though.

When you feel it, you can tell it's not real wood, but with the construction of our house, laminate was the only option for us. If the feel is important to you, you may want to visit a store instead of ordering online.

The color and the price point are exactly what we wanted, and the LL installers got the job done in a day.

Asked on 12/13/2014 by VICTOR from United States

                        1 answer

                        • Staff Reviewer

                          A:

Sound insulation products like underlayments are typically specified for condominiums, hospitals, schools, hotels, office buildings and customers desiring quieter floors. Sound control materials used for impact sound insulation are engineered to absorb and attenuate sound generated by footsteps, dropped objects etc. at the floor surface. Sound control standards were developed to regulate the amount of noise allowed to penetrate through common walls and floors within dwellings and are used to #compare product qualities. ±Under the current Sound rating system, the higher the number the better sound suppression quality. In other words; rooms become increasingly quiet as the rating number increases. Larger luxury Condo Associations and Municipalities typically adhere to the *International Building Code or Universal Building Code when establishing sound control standards. Many properties are now requiring sound control ratings in the high 50's or low 60's range. Local municipalities can have different rating requirements. Impact sound complaints are common on floor-ceiling assemblies that meet the bare minimum requirement of 50 decibels IIC.

(IIC) Impact Isolation Class *ASTM E492/E989 and (STC) Sound Transmission Class ASTM E336/E413 are both tests for sound traveling through the total floor/ceiling assembly from an upper living area to a lower living area.

IIC testing is for impact noise, like footfalls, moving furniture, things dropping on the floor, etc. STC is for airborne sound like voices or music. IIC and STC tests are conducted in sound test laboratories.

It is important to understand that IIC and STC tests are not for individual components of a flooring assembly, but for the whole floor/ceiling structure, from the surface of the floor covering material in the upper unit all the way to the ceiling in the unit below. Each IIC or STC test report issued has a detailed description of the floor/ ceiling assembly used in that test. For engineered wood flooring installations, the results depend on the type of materials used in the construction of the building, along with the underlayment selected for the application.

(FIIC and FSTC) ASTM E1007 and E989 are Field tests performed by setting up test equipment in a building. The International Building Code suggests a rating of 50 or more for IIC and STC, but allows 45 or more for FIIC or FIIC field tests.

(IIC) Impact Insulation Class, (FIIC) Field Impact Insulation Class, (STC) Sound Transmission Class and (FSTC) Field Sound Transmission Class sound testing procedures are all included in the International Building Code as official test methods for sound evaluation. There is one more type of sound that may be discussed in relation to flooring material, the sound that reverberates or echoes within the room where the floor is installed. While resonating sound is obviously important to the consumer, the ability to obtain quantitative measurements has been difficult and illusive. As of yet, there is no ASTM or ANSI method established for the evaluation of resonating sound and the International Building Code does not recognize resonating sound testing.

                          ± IIC-STC 70 Virtually Sound Proof

                          IIC-STC 60 Superior Sound Proofing

                          IIC-STC 50 International Building Code

IIC-STC 40 Sound Proofing below most codes

#The ASTM E2179 'Delta' Test was developed for comparing competing Sound Insulation Products.

*American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)

                          * The International Code Council recommends that an acceptable level of performance for both STC and IIC is 55 (52 F-IIC).

The preferred level of performance for STC and IIC is 60 (57 F-IIC). An IIC and STC rating will generally be 5 points higher than

a F-IIC and F-STC rating. The IIC and STC is conducted at a controlled laboratory. The F-IIC and F-STC is conducted in the field where sound is not as controllable, hence the 5 point difference.

Can I put this type of Laminate flooring or any types of hardwood flooring in my 14'X 70' mobilehome? not the kitchen & bathroom they have vinyl flooring on them & I'm keeping them like that, just 3 bedrooms, the living room & the hallway, mobilehome has carpeting & a thin pad underneath it now! & if so do i need any type of padding between the laminate or hardwood flooring & my trailer floor? or do i just lay it down right on top of the trailer floor like a floating floor? & also i have an electric furnace for winter home heating with no humidifier with the airflow registers down the center of the rooms so will the dry electric heat warp or bow dry it out or have any effect on the flooring? or poof it up when the heat blows out of the registers do i need to glue or tack it down around the registers?
