Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Carbonized
Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

BBF - Beautiful Bamboo Floor

This is a great product for the DIYer. Easy to install, very little waste, looks great instantly, very good value. Over the years we have taken on the installation of a few hardwood floors and this, by far, was the easiest and most satisfying. Will use again and again on other projects. Five inch wide planks covered more area and the half inch thickness keeps the board straight when interlocking. Recommending to anyone who will listen.

This is a substantial product with through color/strands (goof for refinishing if needed in the future)and seems to be able to take normal to a little above Normal use.

We replaced all our carpet with the bamboo and at first I thought the wood was gouging easily but then I realized it is just the surface sealant and using the scratch hider made most of the marks disappear. We used the single piece stair treads based on the store manager's recommendation. I am so glad we did, they are wonderfully crafted with perfect returns; totally transformed our stairwell into a breathtaking space!

                    Service and delivery comments:

Store staff provide excellent customer service, I just wish they had more staff as we almost always wait at least 15-20 minutes to be helped and they can never get to the phone. Delivery was well within anticipates/promised dates.

I had this installed about a month ago. Overall, it is a solid, good-looking floor. I had this professionally installed, but after finding several chips (not from wear and tear) due to careless installation, I wish I had installed it myself. The floor itself is beautiful and easy to clean, but it will dent easily. My nephew dropped a toy off of a 24" high ottoman and the floor dented. I don't think this stuff is as durable as they claim.
Also, I have a lot of creaks in this floor. I've been told by the installer that the creaks will stop eventually, but I'm not so sold on what he is telling me, especially after finding so many chipped boards after install.
Also, if you use LL to install your floors, be SURE to have them test for moisure levels before they install. My installers just started laying the floor without testing. I made them pull it up and test the levels before proceeding. Also, make sure to check your floor thoroughly before you sign off on their work. I had to have them come back to replace several chipped boards. I'm not sure HOW they missed some of them...
Ask the right questions up front. This floor is hard to cut and chips easily if you don't know what you are doing. Hire an installer that has installed bamboo at least a dozen times before.
I can't comment on their overall durability because I've only had them for a month, but you can be assured that I will come back and update my review in 6 months.

By far the easiest floor we have put into our home. We had laid the floor in our great room and liked it so much that we extended the flooring into our kitchen. Process was tedious, but we unclicked floor to make it one continous flow into the kitchen. We were able to cover about 600 sq. feet in four hours.

                            A:

Yes this product can be refinished. To restore the original shine of a solid hardwood, bamboo, cork, and engineered floor a screen and re-coat may be needed or a complete refinishing. A professional sand and finish expert would have to make the determination on site on which sanding process will be needed or which can be done to restore the floors shine. Not all engineered floors can be refinished because of having a thin veneer layer.
                            Thank you for your inquiry.

Considering bamboo in our fellowship hall, kitchen, and hallways in our church. There will be a lot of traffic, moving of tables and chairs, etc. Would scratches be a big problem creating an ongoing problem of repair or would you recommend another product?
We now have vinyl tile over cement floor.

We're going to install #100237654 in our home. We have a plywood subfloor and a climate controlled basement below that is mostly storage so noise isn't a concern. What underlayment should we use? Working on a budget so we're hoping the low-end one would be sufficient.

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

We installed this flooring into our kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and sitting room. The floor is beautiful. After a few months, we noticed the floor is pulling away from the wall, but also coming apart(gapping) in the middle of the floor. Gap is so wide that you can seen the subfloor underneath. No buckling, just gapping. Starting to notice other spots where it is gapping. Can you give me a reasoning behind this, and how to remedy this?

                            A:

With proper indoor acclimation levels maintained after installation boards should neither shrink nor expand in dimension. Excessive squeaks and gapping can result from poor or no acclimation.

When humidty levels drop in a home especially during heating season, bamboo as well as hardwood flooring can contract due to over drying. Just as furniture drawers stick in Summer and loosen in Fall, Winter, and Spring. Indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and humidity levels of 30% - 50% should be maintained so the flooring is more stable.

Gapping can also be caused by an un-level subfloor, however if the acclimation was done properly and your subfloor is good and flat then it is likely do to low humidity levels. Increasing them with a humidifier can help a great deal.
