Morning Star Click Bamboo - 1/2" x 5" Prefinished Solid Strand Carbonized Bamboo Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Carbonized
Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

Installed in family room replacing carpet.
Once you get the first line installed the rest goes quickly. use the sample piece to tap boards together for tight joints. Wear gloves once you cut a piece the rough edge will leave splinters in your hand. No problem with splinters once installed just when handling. each box weighs about 40 pounds my order was 18 boxes room 23x14 not much waste still have 8 whole boards. Picked up order from Riverhead store salespeople very helpful even load the boxes into your vehicle.

We replaced carpet in three bedrooms and a hallway that lead to carpeted stairs (we kept the stairs carpet for now).

The flooring itself went down easily. The click installation made it a breeze. We could lay a board faster than it took to cut it to size.

The biggest problem with installing the floor, was not the flooring itself, but our house. The sub-floor was not level, so most of the time was spent removing carpeting and leveling the sub-floor.

Once all the prep work was done, laying the floor went quickly. A total of 600 sq ft was laid. 2 Rooms and the hallway were completing with 2 people and the third bedroom by 1 person.

Total time to install the flooring was about 10 hours. Total project time was about 40 hours.

The overall look of the flooring is amazing with the rich brown color that looks different in different lights.

                    Service and delivery comments:

We ordered the flooring on a Sunday and it was at the store by Wednesday. We asked our store for a quiet pickup time (early morning for our store) and we had to take two trips because it was too much weight for our SUV.

One box was torn and the top board was damaged but they just grabbed another box for us, so just keep an eye out for it.

They loaded up the SUV for my wife so I didn't have to worry about being there to receive the shipment, just taking it to the second story of our house.

Replaced a dog-hair matted carpet in the living room. This was easy to install, the click construction was much easier than a similar product I installed 10 yrs. ago. The urethane moisture barrier/glue was stiff going down, but the boards adhered well and any clean-up was easily done with the provided product. The finish is VERY hard, and the dogs haven't be able to mar the surface with their long nails. Clean-up of hair is now EASY with the Bellawood cleaner and mop.

                                      A:

In half baths okay however in full baths bamboo is not recommended. Bamboo and Wood flooring can be installed through out the home, but there are concerns about installation in bathrooms. Bathrooms are areas of high moisture. With full baths there are concerns with water spills, high humidity due to steamy showers, and toilet over flows. Elevated moisture in a full bath can create finish issues, board warping, and buckling. When installing in these areas extreme caution is advised and it is recommended to choose wood flooring with high stability. Make sure you have good air flow and use mats to absorb moisture when coming out of the tube or shower. Many floors will not be warranted in a bathroom application. An alternative would be our Tranquility vinyl Click flooring. The Tranquility vinyl click flooring looks like real wood, but will not be affected by moisture like wood floors.

We installed the Morning Star bamboo ourselves as a floating floor. This floor creaks pretty much every step you take. Is there something we should have done to prevent this? If this is how floating floors are supposed to work, I doubt we will ever install another one. The floor is beautiful, just noisy.

Yes this product can be refinished. To restore the original shine of a solid hardwood, bamboo, cork, and engineered floor a screen and re-coat may be needed or a complete refinishing. A professional sand and finish expert would have to make the determination on site on which sanding process will be needed or which can be done to restore the floors shine. Not all engineered floors can be refinished because of having a thin veneer layer.

I am installing 1/2" X 5" strand bamboo,(#10023754) and the installation guide says to leave 1/2" expansion for 1/2" product. Is that 1/2" on all sides or 1/4" on all sides for 1/2" total?

Leave 1/2" to any verticle obstruction, that is 1/2" on all sides.

Cupping is generally a permanent condition that can be remedied by replacing the damaged boards. Instructions can be found on Flooring 101 - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101

                                      Use keyword "replacement".

Considering bamboo in our fellowship hall, kitchen, and hallways in our church. There will be a lot of traffic, moving of tables and chairs, etc. Would scratches be a big problem creating an ongoing problem of repair or would you recommend another product?
We now have vinyl tile over cement floor.

We're going to install #100237654 in our home. We have a plywood subfloor and a climate controlled basement below that is mostly storage so noise isn't a concern. What underlayment should we use? Working on a budget so we're hoping the low-end one would be sufficient.
