Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

Handscraped
Handscraped or distressed floors have a natural or worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.

great danyang

By nate the weekend warrior

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • Almost No Scrap
  • Bamboo
  • Danyang
  • Handscraped
  • Low odor
  • Solid
  • Sounds Very Solid
  • Stranded
  • Tongue And Groove
  • Very hard
  • Very high quality

Cons

  • Need Quarter Round Trim
  • Thinner Than My Old Floor

Best Uses

  • Everywhere
  • Perfect For All Apps

Sounds great installed with nail down and tar paper. Dogs and furniture don't scratch it, if you do get a scratch, just use a wood marker. Totally vanishes and covers nail putty spots in corners. You can't sand and refinish this product but this has a 30yr warranty so I'm not sure why you would want or need to. By then you will want a different plank size or material anyway. We are VERY satisfied with the quality, look, ease of installation, and sound of this product. Does not sound clicks like some thin laminates do. We went from 3/4" builder grade oak skinny planks and this looks and sounds better.

Nice bamboo

By TimL

from Greenville, SC

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • Looks great

Cons

  • Finish scratches easily
  • Tongue Splintered Easily

Best Uses

This bamboo looks great once it is down on the floor. The friends I brought over to look at the finished floor were very surprised when I told them it was bamboo as it doesnt look like a typical bamboo floor.

I bought this to put into a rental home as I thought it would be durable. However I noticed right out of the box that the tongues were breaking much easier than I would have expected. The finish on the floor also scratched much easier than I expected. SO I hope in year I dont walk back into the house and discover the floor is ruined.

    So far, so good

    By Onion1

    from MI

We had this flooring installed throughout our entire lower level. It is beautiful installed, every plank is like its own work of art. They are all different, but that adds to the character of the wood. We purchased this floor for its hardness and that appears to be what we got, I haven't noticed a single scratch mark in the month we've had it and we have two cats and a dog that are very active. The one downside to this flooring would be that dirt shows up everywhere, but I guess that comes with the territory of darker wood. The installer said that it went in very easily.

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

You can glue to well secured flat level ceramic tile or concrete free of contaminates, moisture and sealers. When sealers are suspected you can have false bond issues; either abrade, scarify, or bead blast the finish or remove the existing tile.

    • Q:

Can this be used in a bathroom?
Asked on 12/18/2012 by phil from Charlotte,NC

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Under ideal conditions i.e. well ventilated, spills toweled immediately and throw rugs bathroom installation is possible. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink and tub because an excess of water can damage wood or any floor for that matter. Also you will need to wipe up water as soon as possible. However a full bathroom that is showered in everyday may not be the best location for bamboo and hardwood. Often there is too much water on the floor or humidity that can be absorbed into the flooring resulting in board edge cupping. Engineered floorings are most recommended for these areas.

    • Q:

HOW DO I INSTALL THIS FLOORING? MS HS STR DANYANG BAMBOO 3/8" X 3-3/4"
Asked on 12/14/2012 by RICO from EWING NJ

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Strand bamboo flooring can be glued or nailed. Troweled on Moisture Barrier is recommended if subfloor is on or below grade concrete. Always use the same manufacturer of moisture barrier and adhesive or combo type adhesive moisture barrier.

Nail-down requires an appropriate subfloor. Strand bamboo also requires a proper nailer. The model 50P from POWERNAIL will work for 3/8"-5/8” thick bamboo as will our Norge 18 gauge Floor Nailer (or equivalent nailer) , these shoot 18 gauge cleats which will work on all bamboo including Strand bamboo. Because of strand bamboo's hardness an 18 gauge cleat is necessary.

Bamboo flooring like wood flooring should be installed in climate controlled rooms. It is recommended that the rooms that will have wood installed be climate controlled with temperatures of 50 to 80 degrees F., preferably 65 to 75 degrees F. humidity of 35% to 55% maintained. In addition, the rooms should not be closed off from a normal air flow.

Asked on 7/16/2012 by KIMBERLY from PASO ROBLES, CA

      1 answer

      • Staff Reviewer

        A:

I do hear of this scenario often enough and it always prooves out that there was another cleaning product used previously on the floor that is reacting to the Bellawood cleaner. Most likely once the residue is removed from the original factory finish the floor can be maintained easily. Lumber Liquidators recommends the Bellawood floor cleaner for cleaning our hardwood, laminates and cork products
Because of the many different cleaning products available each with its own specific application methods, Lumber Liquidators cannot recommend a particular cleaning product by brand name. When selecting other cleaning products ensure it is compatible with urethane finishes. Read all precautionary/warranty labeling information.

In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wetjet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.
