                            A:

A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for a Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4-6" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall. Then lay an approved underlayment for floating flooring (unless you have padding attached laminate which requires none). Foam Underlayment, Eco Silent Sound, Bellawood Premium Underlayment, or Quiet Walk underlayment for floating floors. For padding attached laminate use Bellawood Platinum, Bellawood Premium, Quiet Walk or the Eco Silent Sound underlayment.

The product will be installed in first and second floor living spaces. No kitchen or bath install planned.

                            A:

This underlayment is approved for use under laminate flooring with no attached padding. This is not a moisture barrier. A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4-6" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall. Then lay an approved underlayment. Do not lay poly sheeting over wood subfloor.

We just purchased 400 sq ft of 12mm padded laminate from Lumber Liquidators. We are installing this over 100 year old wood floors. Some slight highs and lows in wood. Very little. What type of underlayment should I use before I lay flooring. Plywood or foam? One room is 10' x 25'.

Unfortunately there is no MSDS sheet available for this undelayment.
Regarding Voc emissions there are more concerns with products in a volatile or liquid state such as; glues, sealers and coatings rather than with dried, cured solid components.
This product is safe in its purchased form.
