Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Easy Floating "Click-Together" installation
- Natural Grade
- Backed by a 30 Year Warranty

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

It's simple...
Eco-Friendly. Beautiful look. Beautiful price.

    Easy to install & Beautiful!

    By Kim

Once I finally made up my mind to use this product, the hard part was over. I put it in my kitchen and foyer to my garage. I should have bought enough to do my dining room too! We are remodeling a house that we just bought - great house but a time warp: it is completely stuck in 1976. We just HAD to change the flooring from the 1970's linoleum that came with the house.

Installation was easier than I expected. My husband and I put this down in a day and a half, which was way faster than anticipated due to the number of cuts around cabinets and corners and doors we had to make. Neither of us are professional DIY'ers. I had only one bad board in 300ft2.

I absolutely love the color - it's almost like a naturally aged cherry, beautiful "graining" - you can't tell it's bamboo. It appears to wear very well, and not too much seems to permanently stick to it (meaning I was able to scratch a smear of caulking off of it after it dried). I love it and truly believe I made the right choice with this floor.

We installed this flooring in our family room, foyer, office and dining room. I love it, love it, love it! It took me quite a while to decide on this floor, mostly because there are so many choices and deciding on floating vs. glued, types of padding, colors, etc, was just overwhelming. My husband asked me on a scale of 1-10 what I thought, and I gave it 100! Love the way it looks, it completely warms up the space. All of the boards in the boxes were in good condition, we had no problems with ordering the product. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I just installed 400 sq. ft. of this floor in the front three rooms of my house (dinning room, office, and foyer) and it looks great! It was easy to install all by myself. Everyone who has been to our house says it looks great and my friend wishes he would have used it in his house instead of the engineered wood he put down. I am very happy with this product.

            A:

I am sure you have concerns with the Bamboo as some people do.
Bamboo does have a distinct pungent, odor that is somewhat unpleasant when you are not used to the smell of Bamboo flooring. If you add in the fact that it sits for quite some time in a ship hold, boxed and wrapped in plastic. So its only natural that it release an initial smell from the finish as does any product that has been pre-finished and boxed up in this manor for this length of time.
However the good news is it should quickly dissipate.
It is also important to realize that some people are hypersensitive to certain odors and chemicals that the majority of us do not.
The Morning Star has a Free Gaseous formaldehyde of less than 0.75 ppm, which is less than 0.1% which is significantly lower than the requirement set forth by the controlling councils.
All of our laminates, "composite" wood and engineered products are all CARB Phase II compliant and is stated so on the outside packaging. Starting January 1, 2009, California began regulating the formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products (particleboard, MDF, and hardwood plywood) sold in the state or used to make finished goods offered for sale in the state of California. The Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) is known as the "CARB rule." All products containing composite wood products must comply with this regulation.
So to answer your question, in a word. Yes; It is a absolutely safe for you and your family.
For complete MSDS information; Please go to our Website @ LumberLiquidators.com and at the bottom of the page click on Flooring 101, enter (MSDS) Materials Safety Data Sheets, , enter, then click on the PDF to open. Thank you for your inquiry.

Instructions indicate "apply glue to board ends only" with some additional detail on edge gluing short fill in boards or last row...just to clarify, does EACH board need to be glued on the ends? Do only short fill in boards and the last row of boards need to be glued along the length? What is the concern with gluing each board along the length?

            A:

Only short fill in boards and the last row of boards need to be glued along the length.
You could glue all the joints but would make repairs difficult in the future.

We had Fuyang Bamboo flooring installed in Oct-Nov of 2012. We allowed a week of acclimation time prior to install. We are now experiencing gapping between planks. Installer has done many floating floor installs, and not sure of what may be causing this. Overall..we are very pleased with the look of the flooring, but really need to look to resolve this situation with the gapping. Any help is appreciated
          Asked on 1/9/2013 by Anonymous

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

All wood and bamboo products are affected by environmental conditions especially prefinished materials. Acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If products are protected in plastic, only open the ends of the boxes. To prevent board warping, twisting or bowing, only cut the outside plastic support packaged bindings when ready to install. Length of acclimation time is not the determining factor. The goal is to reach an indoor equilibrium or environmental balance between the “core” of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some exotic species. For best performance, condition the flooring to consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Recommended acclimation levels maintained even after the installation will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks and gaps. Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing the subfloor and new flooring and all work together for the success of the installation. Excessive squeaks and gapping can result from poor or no acclimation or very low humidity. Increased humidity can return flooring to normal. Seasonal gapping is normal when humidity drops due to heating.

          Can strand bamboo be refinished?
          Asked on 1/7/2013 by Anonymous

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

If needed, bamboo flooring can be fully re-sanded and finished about three times as any other species

A typical floor sanding involves using a special (drum) floor sander, edger, and a buffer/ polisher with a disc attachment for holding sand paper and buffing pads. The sanding procedure starts with a course of medium grit sand paper. After sanding the entire floor, repeat with a medium grit and complete sanding with a fine grit sand paper. This produces a fine surface and is ready for finishing.

However, because bamboo is a grass it tends to get “fuzzy”, “burns” or heats-up faster during sanding. Using a medium grit paper, approach sanding at a slight angle to the grain direction then graduating down to fine course, similar to sanding soft yellow Pine.

In most cases, a full sanding is usually not required, just a “buff & re-coat” or “screening & re-coating”. Buff & re-coat is light sanding using an industrial type buffer that removes surface scratches, cleans, and prepares the floor for new top finishes. This procedure really depends how the floor was used or abused. In general, high traffic areas; kitchen-dinette would need to be re-coated sooner than a bedroom or formal dining room. If your floors have been treated with any “non-hardwood friendly products” such as; waxes or has heavy wear patterns, or has lots of dents, then it would need to be fully refinished (Sand & Finish).

The techniques of sanding and finishing bamboo do require higher skills and are best left to professionals.

We plan to use the product in an old structure that does not have a perfectly straight sub-floor. Can we use a product like this that comes in 6-foot lengths or do we need to look for something that comes in 3 or 4 foot lengths (tavern style). If so, do you have any recommendations.

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. Thank you for your inquiry.
In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wetjet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

On the Janka Chart where does this product rank?
Asked on 10/27/2012 by Picky from Arnold, MO

          1 answer

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

Engineered Hardwoods are not tested using the Janka Scale.
The Janka scale chart is not to be considered an absolute; it is designed to help people understand which woods are harder than others.
The Janka Hardness test is done in accordance with ASTM D 1037-7 testing methods. Lumber stocks tested ranges from 1" to 2" thick. (Resulting Jank Hardness Numbers are an average.) It important to note no testing is done on flooring.
The Janka hardness test measures the resistance of a type of wood to withstand denting and wear. It measures the force required to embed an 11.28 mm (0.444 in) steel ball into wood to half the ball's diameter. This method leaves an indentation. A common use of Janka hardness ratings is to determine whether a species of wood is suitable for use as flooring.
Other factors that affect how flooring performs: type of core for engineered flooring like: pine, hdf (high density fiber board) , poplar, oak, birch....etc.. When choosing an engineered floor (other than the species) consider grain direction and thickness floor or top wear surface of the product, engineered hardwoods with thicker wear layers (more actual hardwood) will offer more resistance to dinging than ones with much thinner wear layers. The hardness ratings should not be the only deciding factor when selecting any hardwood floor.
            Thank you for your inquiry.
