Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury. Quick Highlights: Strand To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure. This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty. And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

Comments about Morning Star 5/8" x 3-3/4" Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo:
Flooring looks perfect in my almost 100 yr old home! Provides elegance & style - from kitchen to dining room- have 2 medium size active dogs, no scratches - exceedingly easy to clean
Minor comment - some of the boards seem to have a slight bubble on the side. - my installer doesn't think it will cause any trouble, but this keeps me from rating the flooring as a 5

I have this on my living room floor holding a 90 gallon aquarium. This stuff is really nice and unique. I had it profesionalyy installed and he commented on how tough it was. You can use a damp mop with water to clean it.

Comments about Morning Star 5/8" x 3-3/4" Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo:
Purchased 600 sq ft of the zebra strand bamboo to do the kitchen and adjoining room. Installs fairly easily with the Norge 18 gauge floor nailer. Only issues I had with the product were - dark tongues would tend to split when nailing and one box of the flooring had no finish on about 1" of the side of each board.
Make sure you have some good drill bits for hand nailing the first and last boards, as well as the 1/4 round. This stuff is hard and makes the bit smoke.

We order the 10% extra and had very little extra. The boards we did have extra, my husband cut it into baseboard for areas in which we needed more than just the cove. Also wear gloves!

Comments about Morning Star 5/8" x 3-3/4" Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo:
This is our first install. We put this in the kitchen which can be a difficult install for first timers with having to go around cabinets, islands move appliances, etc. Installation went smoothly with the Norge 18 ga flooring nailer but when it comes to the parts that need to be hand nailed, we couldn't find a pneumatic finish nailer that would do the job. Called Lumber Liquidators and was told by the install team that you have to hand nail those boards that you can't get to with the flooring nailer because the strand bamboo is so hard, so that's what we did. The floor looks great. Not sure about durability as we just put it in but we are very pleased with the way it looks and installation was doable for first timers!

Comments about Morning Star 5/8" x 3-3/4" Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo:
Product looks great, I would buy it again. Only issue I had was that the darker areas seemed softer than the lighter areas (not uncommon) and my stapler would crack off the tongue occasionally when I drove on those spots. I also had some staples curl up and out of the top surface.
Even with these issues, the floor looks fantastic and I would buy this material again.

Comments about Morning Star 5/8" x 3-3/4" Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo:
We did about 1100 Sqft of this and it looks great. The only thing I can recommend is you need to get the 18ga floor nailer (with 1 1/2 nails any longer and they start to turn over on themselves) and stay away from the 16ga. The 16ga tends to split the tongues and leave dimples when installing. The problem is 18ga nailers are very few and far between and the nails are hard to find. Luckily it wasn't too expensive to rent one. If you want to price match I paid $120 for a weeks rental. It looks as if lumber liquidators are starting to carry these guns do to the popularity of stranded bamboo and the lack of availability of guns.

Used professional installers, they finished the job in 2 days and did a superior job. The best thing about the flooring is the reduction of allergens in our atmosphere. The flooring updates our entire house. I love, love, love the ease of cleaning.

This floor turned out gorgeous! We did have to pre-drill holes before using brads when face nailing but had no problems following that with the install. The pieces come together with ease anD our large dog and 3 kids have yet to leave a single mark in it. It is different than any other strand bamboo i could find with regards to shading and i have absolutely no regrets with this product!

Love it and it looks great, but it was difficult to install, I'm glad we went with professional installation as it does splinter easily.

Q:
Can I screw this down instead of nail it down. I know the process is longer but it seems like it would be down better.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Strand Bamboo needs to fastened with 18 gauge cleat nails. Screws should not be utilized for nail down flooring installation.Q:
What is the best way to clean this floor?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.Q:
Can I install 5/8" x 3-3/4" Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo by Morning Star in my below grade basement? I have read because it is a solid bamboo it should not be used but have seen on other sites that all bamboo's are ok for basements.1 answer
A:
Unfortunately not.Q:
I have floor heating, under concrete, can I glue this on top of the concrete? Would it warp the wood?1 answer
A:
Unfortunately this product is not recommended for this application.Q:
I would like to use Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo in a bathroom/spa, but for wall accenting (for 'warmth' of wood) and not on the floor. The room will be humid, and the product glued to the 'green' drywall board. I'm somewhat concerned about the expansion spacing as it would be nice to butt up against the tile floor. Does the product come pre-finished or will I do so with a polyurethane? Would this product be a practical application as planned?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Bamboo is acceptable for installation in a bathroom, but an excess of moisture can damage the flooring. For a bathroom that is showered in everyday, especially by children, there is often just too much of a variance in the temperature and humidity for solid wood or bamboo floors. Good ventilation is a must and will need to be regulated. Expansion may be a problem as well as adhering to Greenboard. This being an experimental installation it is difficult to guaranty success. This flooring is pre-finished with water-based urethane. If you are using it in small areas or short spans, expansion may not be a problem.Q:
What lengths does this flooring come in?1 answer

do I need padding with this floor1 answer
A:
No padding required.Q:
I live at 9000 feet in Colorado. Very low humidity, cold temps, burn a woodstove 7 months of the year. I have a dog and active lifestyle---not the take-off-your-shoes kinda guy. I've narrowed it down to Schon Strand Eucalyptus Engineered, Morningstar Golden Zebra Strand Bamboo, Schon Natural Acacia Engineered, or Dreamhome St. James Golden Acacia Laminate. Which of these would be best taking my situation into consideration?1 answer
A:
This product question would be better answered by our Sales Department, they are more familiar with all of our flooring products and can better assist you with your questions.Q:
We have two mini pins/jack russell dogs and we need to know what kind of lumber (solid hard wood, engineered hardwood, bamboo & cork, laminate & vinyl)that would be good for us.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
I have a Bellawood floor that holds up extremely well to our Hound Mix, Pit-Boxer, and another young mutt and a cat. Not to mention nieces, nephews, and work shoes. Excellent finish. It's not scratch free but no wood floor could be with these dogs. Harder floors like hickory (41% harder than Red Oak) or exotic floors will dent less easily. 3/4" hardwood can also be refinished several times. Light colors will hide potential scratches. Remember nothing is scratch proof but some do better than others.Q:
Is this flooring stable enough to hold a 90 gallon aquarium. If not what type of flooring is recommended to withstand the weight of a large fish tank1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Absolutely yes. As with any furniture, especially heavy, use felt floor protection. Larger the protecting felt pads the better. Caster Cups are another good option. Keep drips or spills toweled up.
