"Darker floors mean constant cleaning"

By Instructor

from Clinton, MO

Pros

  • Better then carpet
  • Cleanup is easier

Cons

  • Dogs slip and slid
  • Rooms echo

Best Uses

Comments about Imperial Teak Laminate Stair Nose:

This flooring was suggested by the dealership as a type we may want to consider since we have dogs in the house and since our sub floor was particle board instead of plywood. We agreed. What we have found out is that the darker the floor the more you will need to dust and clean it. I would choose a lighter color if I had it to do over again. The rooms echoed a lot until we put down area rugs, which I might add were quit costly as we needed them in all the rooms. I am very pleased to be rid of the nasty carpet that we had before however my dogs do slip and slid alot. This will hopefully get better as they adapt. I would have preferred to have hard wood but this is the next best thing. I would recommend Lumber Liquidators to anyone.

        • Q:

can these be installed on concrete steps? Also would you put laminate flooring on there as well? How do you secure the laminate to the stairs?

            A:

Laminate flooring can be used to cover a set of stairs but due to the overlap design of the stair nosings it would not be my first choice for a full flight of stairs.
We sell replacement stair treads, retro-fit treads and risers. Thank you for your inquiry.

            A:

You could use the laminate or a painted pine board to cover the riser or if you are referring to a trim piece; shoe molding or scotia trim.

        • Q:

What are the dimensions of the stair nose. I'm waiting for the stair nose to be delivered, but would like to install the floor up to where the stair nose will go. How far from the stair edge should I leave the end of the flooring?

I would recommend a 100 % urethane construction adhesive and pre-drilling then securing with finish nails or finish screws, set & putty.
