Better than expected

By Ohio Pete

from Bellefontaine OH

Pros

  • Attaches well
  • Great Value
  • Looks great
  • Water Resilient
  • Wears well

Cons

  • Too much glue on some

Best Uses

  • Basement
  • On concrete

I laid down 9 boxes in a basement that gets damp and this stuff is great. Completely water proof and holds well if the base concrete is clean.
However, the second set of 9 boxes; about half of those is difficult to pull the backing off in one piece. They tend to rip in little pieces and there is too much adhesive so the pieces stick all over, extra glue oozes up between pieces and it's gets on your hand (which means in gets on the next tiles you lay.). Only acetone cleans it up well.

Amazing look and price

After ordering a box for our downstairs bathroom my husband and I fell in love with the look and price of product! It immediately updates the look of any room. We have also installed it in our entrance way right over the existing laminated flooring and now our entrance isn't freezing cold to walk through anymore which was an added bonus that I wasn't expecting. We love this product so much that we are planning to add it to our entire upstairs as well as our office downstairs.

        Looks good, but scratches easily

I definitely think prep is key! We replaced our living room and dining room carpet with this vinyl flooring. It was very easy for my husband and I to install and we've never done a floor project like this before. We spent a lot of time sweeping and mopping the subfloor, patched cracks and holes and bought a floor primer to add additional adhesive. We also turned the A/C down very low and had no problems with the plank sticking or the backing peeling off. The floor looks beautiful and was a good replacement from the carpet we had. One disappointment was its inability to hold up to my 85lb. American Bulldog. Even with trimmed nails, he's scratched the surface all up! It's only visible in hard lighted areas, but still disappointing after having it down just two weeks. :( If you can live with that, then this is the flooring for you!

I was a little hesitant to put down "vinyl floors" in our new house, but this isn't like the vinyl floors of yesterday.... This is fantastic Luxury Vinyl Planks! You would be shocked at how many people have walked in and thought it was high end Laminate/Engineered Hardwood. Installation was fairly straight forward just FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! I would absolutely use this product again and have already recommended it to my parents who are going to put it in their kitchen. Thanks Lumber Liquidators!

I am a woman in my 50's and I put it down myself. Over 500 square feet. It took me nine days. Those of you that had trouble with the paper were not doing it right. I used one foot to place pressure on the black of the tile and would move my foot down has I slowly peeled the back off. Keeping the weight or pressure on the back has you peel makes it very easy to get off. They don't recommend this but I also used a tile grout to keep it water proof. just wipe it off ASAP. I also used extra glue and then cleaned it with old English polish when I was finished.

Amazing beauty, looks just as good or better than natural wood. The wood patterns do not give you the look and feel of a regular tile, very little repetition. I love the knots in the wood, hence the name knotty oak. Other than some of the tiles having too much adhesive, this is an incredible product for people on a budget.

                    Service and delivery comments:

We received a $90.00 discount on six boxes of tile because some of the boxes were damaged. We received six boxes for $200.00! So far we have found only one tile that was split! The sales associates at Lumber Liquidators were very helpful and they have won a new customer.

                          A:

This solid vinyl product would not be affected by moisture but the adhesive on the back will be.
Unfortunately for our natural wood products it is not recommended and will void your warranty.
You could reseal prefinished flooring after it is installed, but this would void the finish warranty on the flooring and create extra expense for you after already buying a new floor with a 20, 30, or 50yr finish warranty. Adding a new finish won’t prevent all moisture from going into the seams. Wood will expand and contract with climate changes. If the flooring were to contract later and create seasonal gapping, a spill can cause water to get into the gaps. It is best to only add a new finish when the old finish starts to wear more than you like or if you have a lot of scratches you want covered up. We recommend that you use a professional sand and finish expert if you did decide to add a new finish to the flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.
