Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury. Quick Highlights: Strand To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure. This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty. And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision. It's simple... OVERALL OPINION: Elegant appearance; surprisingly strong and durable; easy installation. One of the best buys/price for bamboo that I've seen.
USES: living room and bedroom, (residence: Edwardian, urban.)
INSTALLATION: over concrete, "floating." If you have time, and don't mind taking measurements/cutting the planks, it's like doing a big puzzle.
LIKE: Kobra Klic Bamboo is one of the few flooring products that we investigated online, which actually looks much better in person. Underfoot, it feels great - better than we imagined. The dark brown color is rich - and subtly multi-toned (not reddish.) It's classic-looking and simple - perfect for Victorian, Urban, and Feng Shui decor - traits that might make it look out of place in house with rustic or country decor.
DISLIKE: Personally, there's nothing about this bamboo floor that I dislike. It's elegant, simple, and "green" - and depending on your furniture, it can be formal or casual.
P.S. Contrary to comments about other bamboo floors that I read, Kobra Klic doesn't emit a smell of any kind (!)

Holding up very well with 2 dogs running around. Dark wood shows dirt. Sweep up with Swiffer and looks beautiful.

This was, by far, the best decision we made! The flooring fits tightly together and looks great. Already, I can see the difference in the hardness of the bamboo; I have big dogs, and there's not a scratch on it -- and I just installed a practically black color! Love it!
Interlocking makes to install as fast and EASY as possible! Two hours and we were done! And, who would of thought bamboo in the bathroom would look THAT GOOD!! Looks incredible!! And at a great price!

I put this product of the majority of my 4,300 sq/ft house (excluding kitchen and bathrooms.) It looks very nice and clean. I went with the floating option because we wanted it to be a little softer underfoot thanks to my 3 and 5 year old running around. It is softer but still feels solid which is nice (subfloor is concrete downstairs and wood upstairs - we floated both). We have had some challenges with the amount of swelling with this wood due to the humidity in Florida (particularly upstairs). It swells a great deal more than most wood and as such will buckle at the click joints. The problem appears to have been rectified by cutting even more space than the typical 1/4 of inch around the outside of the floor. This has proved tricky at door frames where baseboard doesn't cover fully. Hiding that gap has been a creative challenge. You also have to use T-moldings and the like anywhere it meets tile or other material because of this issue. It has only been a short period of time but it appears to be holding up from scratching well even with my 2 80lbs labradoodles (the Austrialian Cypress I had bought from Lumber Liquidators previously was demolished by these same dogs' toe nails). However, when it does scratch there is a noticable white line. Because of the dark color it does show dirt quite easily but that was to be expected. The biggest challenge with this floor is that I was unable to get some of the accessories in a timely manner. Just as in my last two experiences purchasing from Lumber Liquidators, the dates of arrival for matching accessory items seems nebulous to never at best and forced me to purchase some of these items elsewhere.

This bamboo looks wonderful once it's installed (pretty easy install), but once you start walking on it, it doesn't look so great. The dark color shows all traffic and dust. The finish is cheap and scratches easily. The scratches are in the top coat and are bright white and don't buff out. Also already have a couple of dings past the top coat, into the wood itself. We've had to take out half of the installed floors to replace several broken pieces we found and all the planks were bowed and were difficult to put back into place. There ended up being a lot of broken planks in our 1200 sq ft lot. (We didn't buy too much extra as the sales guy said there are rarely bad pieces from this brand. Not so.) I love the color variation from box to box, very subtle and gives it a great overall look, but I'm so disappointed with the quality I wish I could take it all up and return it for something else. We are not happy with this product.
Used in a large closet. 15x18 The color variation does not change one shade box to box. the color is either a 6 light and the others are 10 dark. No good way to mix them up. Large area rug covers most of the room so border looks good.

I used this product all over my downstairs--1000 square feet. It looks wonderful and was easy to install. I can't comment on wear because I haven't moved in but I have noticed it scuffs easily. However, I have been able to remove scuffs with moist soft towels and elbow grease.

Does the Morning Star Clic 1/2" x 5" have a Janka Rating?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Bamboo has an average hardness of some 1320 PSI when compared with Northern Red Oak at 1290 PSI, the standard as tested according to the (Janka) testing standards of the National Wood Flooring Association. Bamboo is a very dense grass and is therefore not held to the same hardness standards of solid wood. I bought and installed the very dark shade of this bamboo flooring, am a little worried on how to maintain my floor with out ruining its great finish. So what is the best way to maintain my floor?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.Q:
I've read a lot online about people saying this scratches easily which confuses me because everything else touts how hard this material is. Can you explain?1 answer

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.Q:
I live in a townhouse with particle board as the sub-floor, can this be installed with this type of subfloor? If so what material do I need to buy?1 answer
