Great idea, poor quality

Comments about Dream Home Laminate Installation Kit:

The small pry bar work great for those small places. I was very disappointed with the tapping block. It seemed to chip the laminate a lot more then I like. That being said this is not my first laminate flooring install and I switched back to my trusty rubber block.

Comments about Dream Home Laminate Installation Kit:

Bits of the tapping block fell off within minutes of using this, and completely fell apart by the second row so I've ended up using a piece of wood instead. To be fair I've read the same about pretty much all tapping blocks. The pulling bad has a curve in it so it's not too great either but I don't have any alternative but to use it. Spacers seem to work well though.

the block used to 'tap' the laminate broke. Had to replace 3 of them. I found that it is more than a 'tap' to join the lengths together. I would recommend the kit, because I see no alternatives.

The pull bar was essential to a good installation, but the tapping block cracked after about 6 boards, and shattered completely about 8 boards later. A chunk of hardwood, after a little detail work replaced it and was far easier and more durable. Spacers did their job. If they sold the pull bar separately that would be better.

I bought the kit hoping to use all of the contents. The pull bar was excellent - a must have for installing laminate floor. The taping block broke halfway thru installation so we used a piece of discarded laminate flooring, which worked a lot better. We did not use the spacers since there were not enough of them. I had leftover wood from another project which worked a lot better.

You cant install Laminate with out a block and hook and spacers. But this kit is cheap.
The block cracked after about 2oo sqft. Spacers are too light and move too much.

                          A:

Floating laminate flooring is ideal over concrete slabs. Concrete must be flat and level with no more than 3/16" in 10' variance or 1/8" in a 6' radius. Concrete slabs also require a moisture barrier. A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4-6" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall. Then lay an approved underlayment for floating flooring (unless you have padding attached laminate).

It is very demanding covering that much area when you are 70 yrs. old. I also use a professional dry mop to dust the floors daily. Can you recommend an easier way of cleaning it?

You are doing the right thing, however the cleaner is only necessary about once or twice a month.

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.
