1/2" x 3-3/4" Prefinished Ming Strand Handscraped Bamboo Flooring - 25 Year Warranty

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- 25 Year Warranty
- Glue, Nail Installation

It's the first time ever we have seen random length strand handscraped bamboo. The random lengths will give the floor a more natural look. This is a great product at a great price!

Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

Handscraped or distressed floors have a natural or worn appearance. They look like floors from the days when floors were finished by hand.

This product was installed in my home recently by a couple of DIY'ers (myself and my husband)in our kitchen living room combo. After reading many reviews I was worried that it would be extremely difficult to install and hard to find the right tools. I rented a ProNail P50 first...cleats broke the tongue. Purchased a Norge 4 and 1 Brad Nailer and it worked like a charm! However I wouldn't use the nailer on your first row near a wall. When it shoots the Brads it will leave a mark in the top of the wood that looks like a staple was put in...and the top may sometimes crack. Simple solution? Use a finish nailer. Absolutely beautiful product. As for underlayment...we used 15 lb. roofing felt. No squeaks...and no movement in the flooring. Highly recommend!

    • Q:

Does bamboo scratch easily? How durable is it?
Asked on 4/7/2013 by MALENA from ALPINE, CA

      1 answer

Bamboo will have the same scratch resistance as any oak or maple refinished flooring. Tips - Strand Bamboo will dent less easily because of it's hardness and light colors will hide scratches better than dark.

    • Q:

Can this be product be used in a small second bathroom
      or any bamboo
      Asked on 1/10/2013 by Anonymous

      1 answer

Bamboo is acceptable for installation in a bathroom, but we highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink and tub because an excess of water can damage wood or any floor besides tile.  Also you will need to wipe up any water as soon as possible. For a bathroom that is showered in everyday, especially by children, there is often just too much water on the floor as well as  variance in the temperature and humidity for solid wood floorings. Good ventilation is a must.

There are concerns about installation in bathrooms. Bathrooms are areas of high moisture. With full baths there are concerns with water spills, high humidity due to steamy showers, and toilet over flows. Elevated moisture in a full bath can create finish issues, board warping, and buckling. When installing in these areas extreme caution is advised and it is recommended to choose wood flooring with high stability. Make sure you have good air flow and use mats to absorb moisture when coming out of the tube or shower. Many wood floors will not be warranted in a bathroom application. An alternative would be our Tranquility vinyl Click flooring. The Tranquility vinyl click flooring looks like real wood, but will not be affected by moisture like wood floor

Does this product emit any odors? I've read about problems with formaldehyde odors from bamboo floors.

The adhesive that is used in bonding our Bamboo, Cork, Engineered, and Laminate flooring products contain very low amounts of Urea Formaldehyde. We feel that our products are very safe and most meet California CARB Phase I or California Phase II regulations, which is listed on the boxes. We also list MSDS sheets for most of these products on the Lumber Liquidators website “Flooring 101”.
I am sure you have concerns with the Bamboo as some people do.
Bamboo does have a distinct pungent, odor that is somewhat unpleasant when you are not used to the smell of Bamboo flooring. If you add in the fact that it sits for quite some time in a ship hold, boxed and wrapped in plastic. So its only natural that it release an initial smell from the finish as does any product that has been pre-finished and boxed up in this manor for this length of time.
However the good news is it should quickly dissipate by airing out the room(s).
I assure you Morning Star Bamboo meets and exceeds any and all European and United States standards. The Morning Star has a Free Gaseous formaldehyde of less than 0.75 ppm, which is less than 0.1% which is significantly lower than the requirement set forth by the controlling councils.
