BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

What makes Bellawood so Unique? We carefully hand select each species from regions across the globe that are known to produce denser woods and that exemplify the species' finest qualities. That's why we say, "It's more than hardwood. It's Bellawood."

Unique and durable, Australian Cypress is a stunning wood with a variety of tones, ranging from cream to honey brown. Its intricate grain and exquisite dark knots make it a great choice when you want to create a rustic feel. As for hardness and durability, Australian Cypress is renowned.  It suits virtually any high-traffic area from busy living room to bustling boardroom.

About "Natural Grade" Flooring:
Natural Grade flooring has some color variation, mineral coloring and small knots. It can also be referred to as #2  or Third Grade. Natural grade flooring will have a slightly longer average plank length compared to Rustic grade products.

This product is proudly finished in the USA.

It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better and then there's Bellawood.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5-1/4" Natural Australian Cypress:

It was simple to put in after that first row, but the edges got beat up quite a bit when trying to tighten the fit. The pull bar helped reduce, but not eliminate the damage.

  • Q:

I have tried everything to clean these floors. Everything leaves a film, streaking, etc and they never look clean, including the Bellawood floor cleaner. Suggestions?
Asked on 2/8/2013 by Miss Kay from Lyndon,Ks

      A:

Our Bellawood floor cleaner does not contain any polishes ,wax or anything that will build on the surface and is recommended to be used on all our flooring products. I do hear of this scenario often enough and it always prooves out that there was another cleaning product used previously on the floor that is reacting to the Bellawood cleaner. Most likely once the residue is removed from the original factory finish the floor can be maintained easily. Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

Love the floor but it scratches really really easy. Is there anything that we could use to apply over the finish to harden the finish and make it more durable?
    Asked on 4/13/2012 by Anonymous

      A:

Why doesn't the warranty cover scratches and dents?
Scratches and dents are not covered because individual use can vary. Also, most manufacturers do not guard against wear conditions driven by consumer use of a product, including flooring products. Scratches and dents are beyond a manufacturer's ability to control.
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
You could reseal prefinished flooring after it is installed, but this would void the finish warranty on the flooring and create extra expense for you after already buying a new floor with a 50 or 100yr finish warranty. It is best to only add a new finish when the old finish starts to wear more than you like or if you have a lot of scratches you want covered up. We recommend that you use a professional sand and finish expert if you did decide to add a new finish to the flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

I love my aust cypress, can I use that new shark steamvac on it? Shark specifies it must be a sealed wood.
Shark manufacture says it leaves surface dry, what does Bellawood suggest?
Asked on 1/25/2012 by Linda from suffolk va

      A:

We do not recommend steam mops or Roomba Scooba robots on our laminates or on any of our wood floor products. Although appropriate for kitchen sheet vinyl or ceramic tiles, wood, laminate and cork floorings have raw seam edges that can swell or cup with use of these cleaning methods. We recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

I was planing to install 3/4" x 5 1/4" Natural Australian Cypress in my lake cabin in Alabama but I have been advised that the 5 1/4" Cypress will "cup" over time and that I should use 3 1/4" Cypress instead. As this will be going in a large room I wanted a wider board. Will the 5 1/4" Cypress "cup"
    Asked on 12/21/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

All wood flooring species will cup regardless of the width if it is exposed to excessive moisture.
Narrower boards will show less cupping than a wide board. the key is to keep the flooing dry.
      JOB SITE INSPECTION
For best performance, wood flooring should be one of the last items installed. Heating and air conditioning systems should be fully operating and running at least 7 days before the installation. To prevent moisture related issues such as board edge cupping, all wet work involving water or moisture (plumbing, ceramic tiles, drywall finishes, painting, etc.) should be finished with ample time allowed for complete drying prior to wood floor installation. New concrete should be cured and at least 60 to 90 days old. ACCLIMATION/CONDITIONING OF THE FLOORING
All wood products are affected by environmental conditions especially prefinished materials. Acclimate the new flooring in the areas to be installed to normal lived-in conditions while in the boxes. If products are protected in plastic, only open the ends of the boxes. To prevent board warping, twisting or bowing, only cut the outside plastic support packaged bindings when ready to install. Length of acclimation time is not the determining factor. The goal is to reach an indoor equilibrium or environmental balance between the “core” of the new flooring with its surroundings before installation. This balance could be achieved in as little as 1 to 5 days, or longer for some exotic species. For best performance, condition the flooring to consistent indoor temperatures of 60°-80° F and indoor humidity levels of 30% - 50%. Very dry or humid regions of the country usually require extended conditioning. Recommended acclimation levels maintained even after the installation will help to minimize board movement, excessive squeaks and gaps. Proper jobsite conditions, acclimation and moisture testing the subfloor and new flooring and all work together for the success of the installation. This is the responsibility of those overseeing the project.

We are wanting to install in a two story condo unit and wondered if this is good choice to put on stairs?

      A:

3/4" hardwood can be installed on stairs along with the matching nosing.
Different counties have codes regarding changes in the rise of steps in relation to each other and with the landings at the bottom and top of a stair case.

  • Q:

Can this wood be installed in a kitchen?
Asked on 4/14/2011 by Bella from Unicoi, TN

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Yes. Hardwood, engineered, laminate (higher warranty laminate is better in high traffic areas like kitchens), cork, and bamboo is acceptable for installation in a kitchen, but we highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink because an excess of water can damage any floor. Also you will need to wipe up any water as soon as possible.
