BELLAWOOD- 1/2" x 3" Natural Hickory Prefinished Engineered Flooring- 100 Year Warranty!

Hickory is distinguished by its amazing color variation, superb graining and outstanding durability. Being the hardest of all North American woods, it's perfect for those who want beauty and durability in high-traffic areas. Its colors run the gamut, from light tans to deep browns with reddish tones interlaced. And its stunning knurled grain is just as appropriate in a modern city loft as a rustic country cabin.

- Better resistance to humidity and moisture changes (Virtually eliminates buckling and twisting)
- Attractive long length planks (up to 86") for the traditional hardwood look
- Variety of installation methods - can be nailed, glued or floated.
- More environmentally responsible use of woods.

Best of all, Bellawood Engineered Hardwood Floors feature a Lifetime Structural Warranty and 100 Year Bellawood Finish Warranty!

      ENGINEERED WOOD FASTENER SELECTION
Special nailers, shims, shoe accessories or fasteners are usually required to accommodate engineered flooring
Note: Only use flooring machines that are fully adjustable and that engage the top profile over the tongue at the appropriate angle.
Make sure that the base is smooth, in good working condition and seats properly against the board to prevent top edge and surface
dimple damage. Test and adjust the air pressure to ensure proper setting of staples. Always install in good lighting.

  • Q:

Can this product be used over infloor heat? Any special cautions?
    Asked on 8/6/2012 by steve

      A:

Radiant Heat Systems (all installation methods)
General Precautions and Recommendations Always use moisture barriers.
Engineered flooring can be successfully applied over in-floor radiant heat. Know the species you intend to use and how it may interact with radiant heat. Not all species are recommended for this installation, choose species highest in stability ratings for this application. Brazilian Cherry is not recommended.
Because of the wide array of systems on the market, each with its own features, please consult with your radiant flooring provider for recommended installation methods. Hydronic systems must include in-floor temperature sensors and an outdoor thermostat that allows the system to adjust the water temperature according to anticipated heat loss. Radiant heat contributes to the drying out of all woods. Use of a humidification system may be required to maintain the proper humidity level. The indoor relative humidity must be maintained between 30-50% year round. Failure to do so can result in edge cupping, squeaking delamination, splintering, or face checking.

  • Q:

Once the floor has been installed, do I need to worry about when to put down rugs on the floor? Or is there a period of time of how long I need to wait to put down rugs?
    Asked on 3/25/2012 by Anonymous

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Wood products can be dramatic in appearance, especially the exotics. Only factory made products such as tile, vinyl, and wallpaper will have uniformity of color. Keep in mind that wood and corks are natural product and no two installed floors will be identical. Variations in appearance are completely normal and are a desired characteristic. As your floor ages, color or shading called “patina” can occur. This process can be rapid the first 3 months, less in 6 months, then finishing off in about I year. Moving the furniture and rugs around helps to even out areas that were not exposed to light. Try to avoid large area rugs for the first 3 months.
All wood species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes.

  • Q:

How durable is the product to high traffic areas like kitchens, entry ways, children, large pets and water?
    Asked on 3/17/2012 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

Due to the excessive moisture present in a full bath we cannot recommend any of our natural flooring or laminate products for this application, I would suggest one of our vinyl Tranquility products. We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4mm click together product that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.

  • Q:

I have 2 questions: 1.)What protective coat and how many does the Bellawood Engineered Hickory have? 2.) Does the protective coat contain UV protection? Thank you.
Asked on 2/9/2012 by Anonymous from Albuquerque, NM

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! (The exact formula is propietary information)
The average dry film thickness for Bellawood is about 3.65 mils – one of the highest in the industry.
Maintaining the appearance of any wood floor requires close attention to in-door climate controls during seasonal changes.
There is no UV protection in our finish.
      Thank you for your inquiry.
