Virginia Mill Works Co. - 7/16" x 4-3/4" Potomac Plank- Easy Click - Prefinished Handscraped Engineered Flooring- 30 Year Warranty

Give your home a touch of that same simple elegance our ancestors cherished!
Colonial American homes were built with wooden floors that were sawn using basic hand-held tools. The hand-crafted workmanship that went into those floors can be found in Virginia Mill Works handscraped floors. Virginia Mill Works with easy click installation engineered flooring is constructed with a real hardwood handscraped veneer atop a moisture-resistant HDF (high density fiberboard) core which is made from real wood fibers that are compressed into a dense, impact-resistant format. In addition to providing extra protection against denting, the HDF enables the most precise milling of the locking profile to enhance ease of use and long-term durability.

Quick Highlights:
- Superior strength and stability in any room, including basements.
- Type of installation: Floating and made even easier with Easy Click installation system!
- Beautiful Hand Scraped finish
- 30 Year Warranty

Great product that was really very easy to install. The only time consuming part was cutting the end pieces to length, and cutting around doorways etc. It looks great, was relatively affordable and will add a lot of value to our home. The only problem we had is the sale price when we were looking went away a week later and we were stuck paying a slightly higher price. Still well worth it.

I used this flooring for a basement project, the installation could not have gone easier, with little to no waste. The floor definitely looks great... when it is clean, probably my biggest issue is shows every spec of dust but I guess that is to be expected with this color option. If you do not enjoy cleaning the floor every two days this one is not for you.

      Service and delivery comments:

I was told two to three weeks delivery and would be notified when the shipment arrived. I waited over three weeks but had to notify Lumber's Liquidators myself. They couldn't tell me how long the shipment had been there. Not satisfied with the "Delivery".

This floor was ridiculously easy to install. One person did a ~120 sqft room in a half a day. It looks gorgeous! It's stunningly beautiful. I can't speak to how it wears yet, but I'm hopeful. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is not knowing how well it will wear. The room hasn't been moved into yet, so I don't have any idea how it will hold up.

Comments about Virginia Mill Works 7/16" x 4-3/4" Potomac Plank - Quick Clic:

After installation, I was extremely disappointed in how soft the flooring was. Take a sample and run your fingernail softly across it and see the dent it leaves. Simply pushing a new mattress across the floor will leave a long dent from the stiff part of the mattress. I also had to replace all the flooring in the kitchen due to rolling a new empty refrigerator over ridged cardboard. If you want to set any chair, table, or appliance on it w/o denting the floor you have to install thick felt on the bottom or put down some luan over top of the floor to move an appliance. Everything I set on the floor left an impression. Other than that it is beautiful. But for the price, I would have rather just went with natural hardwood. The laminates I have used in the past were beautiful as well and very durable, never would they dent or scratch like this product. Avoid this product. I believe it is because it was engineered. The wood on top is just so thin that it succumbs to any shape that lands on it.

We did the floating over glue for installation and if I had to do it over again I'd test the glue method of installation. The click joints on wood floor do not hold up well and creaking a lot. It may be just Virginia Mill Works's but the pieces were hard to get together.

I'm curious as to whether this product holds up well with medium to large dogs? Also, in addition to that, how well does this flooring mask footprints? We stained our deck a darker Behr redwood color and it constantly has doggie prints on it. Hoping to avoid that with a medium-colored stain.

                A:

Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.

              1 answer

              • Staff Reviewer

                A:

Hardwood, laminate (higher warranty laminate is better in high traffic areas like kitchens), cork, and bamboo is acceptable for installation in a kitchen, but we highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink because an excess of water can damage any floor. These floorings are water resistant relative to normal spills but not water-proof. Any soaking spills will destroy any flooring with the exception of ceramic or stone tile. Thank you for your inquiry.

                A:

Floating engineered flooring require expansion gaps for anything over 30' or you risk the integrity of the installation. This center expansion allows the heavy weight of the total floor additional center movement or relief if needed, preventing possible center buckling of the floor. Often this can be employed at doorways or at the start of a hallway. Also, ensure the proper perimeter spacing for your product; this is normally the thickness of the flooring being installed.

Yes this product can be installed below grade on concrete. Yes a moisture barrier is required. We recommend using 6 mil poly sheeting for a vapor barrier and a underlayment to support the locking system and absorb sound.

                • STEAM CLEANERS OR WET-JET swiffer; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.

2 questions , in this Q&A ,asked for wear layer thickness. Your answer is 2mm , both times.
In your specs, you mention "Veneer Thickness: 1.6 mm".
              1) So what is the diff between veneer and wear layer thickness.
              2) What makes the 0.4 mm diff??
