      Used the riser for my basement stairs. Stained them to blend with my Brazilian Koa (Tigerwood) floors. The stairs are beautiful and add character to the basement. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

      Comments about 48" Red Oak Riser:

      I used 5 coats of floor grade satin polyurethane to finish the risers. Water based polyurethane was recommended, but I could only find the oil based polyurethane in the floor grade. A natural bristle paint brush is recommended with polyurethane. Each coat took 6 hours to dry, so I completed the finish in a weekend.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            The difficulty of installing these oak risers will of course depend on the skill level of the individual installing them and the experience with hand tools; such as hammers, nails, using construction adhesive, and power tools, saws, etc..
