Lisbon Cork- 13/32" x 11-5/8" x 35-5/8" Rossio Cork Flooring

Quick Highlights:

DURABILITY - 25 year warranty same as traditional hardwood.
DESIGN - Architects, Designers and Home Owners love the color pallet and fashion patterns of cork.
COMFORT -  Cork is resilient which relives stress in the back and legs when standing on our floors.
WARMTH - Cork takes on the temperature of the room. Great for warm or cold climates.
QUIET - Cork is great for sound deadening due to the honeycomb cell structure of the bark. This reduces sound within the room as well as between floors in multi-level structures.
EASY MAINTENANCE -  Just sweep and spot clean for many years of use.

Lisbon Cork Co. Ltd. Fine Cork Flooring combines the beauty of a natural material with the comfort of a cushioned surface. It is durable, acoustical, and a great insulator.  The bark of the cork tree is peeled without destroying the tree and it grows back within nine years, ready to be harvested again. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a joy to live with. Cork is considered a green product because the same tree can be harvested numerous times.

        Beautiful Alternative to Carpet!

        By Rock the Money Doc

        Pros

        • Soft Under-foot

        Cons

          Best Uses

The product is beautiful and was easy to install. It is an excellent alternative to tile, and is much softer under-foot than tile. I would recommend this to a friend. My only negative comment is regarding the "T" molding/trim. I omitted it from the installation because it was too high in profile. I wish LL had a product that was more "flush."

Awesome floor but tricky to install!

              • Tricky to install

              Best Uses

Make sure to start with a solid straight edge, whether it be the wall or nailed in board. To hammer in, use a scrap piece of floor, click it into the floor piece that you are installing and knock on the scrap piece with the block from the tool set. This eliminates breaking the piece you have installed. We also found that if you use some silicone spray on the tongue it helps to slide it in easier and will not hurt the floor if you get it on it. Wipes right off. Take your time. After you install four rows, pull the floor away from the straight edge (remove nailed board, if using one) and slide back to the appropriate distance from the wall for expansion and keep on going. The corners of the board pieces may need to pulled off in order to assure an even fit. You will note that these may look broken but are not. If you find the corners are not flat, remove piece and check to see if this corner piece is causing the corner edges to be uneven. It is beautiful and attractive. We removed our carpet and are extremely happy with our decision.

                Service and delivery comments:

The staff at the Sun Prairie/Madison store were very helpful, friendly and encouraging. The product arrived promptly. Out of 8 boxes, only 1 board was damaged and couldn't be used.

The Rossio Cork flooring is beautiful. Unfortunately the panels do not fit as snuggly together as other floating floors I've used. Now that I look at pictures online I can see this is a common problem. I would not buy this again.

                        • Living Or Bedroom

Your existing floors need to be perfectly flat even with underlayment fabric. Tapping is required to join and seat the joints, and if you tap to hard, it destroys the cardboard mating surfaces of the interlocking joint. You have to scrap the entire plank then. Some joints work perfectly, but a majority did not. Installation took way to much effort. Big disappointment.

                            - Use a fine tooth table saw blade for all cuts; reduces chances of chipping which may ruin the whole use of an individual piece.

This was put in 3 bathrooms and the laundry room. It feels warm to the feet and is easy to clean, simply dust mop. A little concerned about getting water on it.

Once you got the hang of it, it was fairly easy to put together. Be careful when cutting out doorways. Suggest taking off all floor moulding before starting. It takes time, be patient!

Beautiful flooring. Great price. A bit of a bear to work with at first. The substrate is not quite as hard as other 'laminate' floor types. But once you get the hang of working with it, it goes down well. The color is quite unique. It is somewhat remeniscent of stone, a little. Recommend using a sealer in kitchen. We will use gloss Waterlox. Make the floor really POP!

Cork flooring like wood flooring requires humidity at 35% to 55% constant. A hot tub from may be too much.

We have 2 very active dogs 40-60lbs and occasionally our daughters dog which is 80lbs. I want to use cork flooring for our stairs going up to the guest rooms and also on the upstairs landing area.
Will the cork flooring hold up to the dogs nails when they are running across the cork and playing on it? I also want to put it in an office, will cork hold up to chairs on wheels?

Since this is soft and cushiony, how does floor hold up with furniture on it? wouldn't the furniture leave marks or indents on floors from the legs?

Yes it could, I would recommend purchasing furniture floor protectors to help minimize permanent denting to the cork flooring.

We are replacing carpets in a bedroom because the dog has been peeing on them. They were very dark, and we couldn't see to clean it properly. If the dog pees on the cork flooring, will it ruin the flooring? Or is it safe enough if cleaned up? How porous is the surface?

It's not porous but rather sealed with 7 coats of water-based urethane finish.

We are considering cork flooring for our summer cabin. The cabin is closed for the winter with no heat as we can't get to it due to all the snow. Will cork flooring hold up to dry summer climates and freezing temps in the winter?

All of our flooring products are designed and recommended for interior use only.
Being a natural product it will be subject to the effects of temperature and humidity. If proper heat and humidity levels are not maintained your flooring may shift, shrink, expand, gap or buckle.

I would recommended having four strips of 1/4" x 4' x 8" luan boards to roll the fridge out on to prevent damaging the cork flooring.

We'd like to put this flooring in our 3 bedrooms; the rest of the house is oak. Will it match up nicely with oak? Also, one family member uses an electric wheelchair which weighs about 200-250 lbs., plus the person-never mind her weight! The chair makes quick turns, pivots and stops. Will this floor stand up to this type of wear and tear? Our present carpet is pulled loose and saggy in the walkway. Sometimes water gets spilled. Will it cause a stain and if so, could we replace the damaged square(s)?

It would match oak nicely however, being in a heavy wheelchair myself, I'm not sure I would use cork. Hardwood or a high warranty laminate flooring may be a better choice.

If you happen to spill water on your floor, clean it up as quickly as possible. Use area rugs where necessary. If massive amounts of water leak out onto the floor, such as a refrigirator or dishwasher that has leaked , it might damage the floor to the point where it would need to be replaced. Most homeowners insurance companies would cover the repairs needed if this were to happen.

When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
