Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Maple:

This is the 3rd floor I have installed. I was very disappointed this time with the engineering of this floor. It was virtually impossible to get the boards to form a nice close seam on the ends. The lengths were fine most of the time. It was also frustrating to find that some of the grooves were not entirely cut out making the boards difficult to set together without me having to router out the groove. I was very disappointed this time especially with what we paid for this floor. Plus, even though we purchased Maple Select (3/4" X 5"), there were clearly boards that had no business being in that grade. I was overall very disappointed.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Maple:

I've done about 1/2 of my house with the 5" Select Maple, and just love it. The closest I could come to a complaint is that maybe 2% of the planks come with chips, defects, broken tongue and grooves, etc. Just be sure to inspect it as you put it in, and save the defective ones for walls, corners, etc.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Maple:

I love the maple I used it in my Kitchen. Its so easy to clean and looks beautiful against my Cherry cabinets. One of the floor boards did crack and we are going to have it fixed. Other than that it has held up great especially with a 3 year old.

                A:

We do not recommend either when over concrete. You can however use Elastilon as your installation system to achieve this. Elastilon Self Adhesive Underlayment is a good option for any flat subfloor. You can use up to 3/4" thick or thinner solid or tongue and groove engineered flooring (works best with 1/2" or thicker). Floating with Elastilon needs to have an expansion break for spans over 33' on it's width, but not length.

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

                All pre-finished flooring has a micro-bevel.

Today's hardwood finishes are most durable and are applied in a quality controlled environment. We offer several pre-finish coatings, whereas most site-finished floors -sanded and finished at the job site- would only have two or three coats applied, then these must be air dried.

There are more advantages than disadvantages of pre-finished materials. Nearly all pre-finished hardwood floors will have beveled edges to some extent. On the other hand, site finished flooring will have a flawless uniform appearance when sanded. Many people with health concerns or respiratory issues choose pre-finished floors because these are installed without the usual sanding dust and fumes commonly associated with site finished floors. Another benefit is that these can be installed and walked on the same day!

Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! Maintaining the appearance of any wood floor requires close attention to in-door climate controls during seasonal changes.

Therefore, whether you choose one of our many “pre-finished” or “un-finished styles, we will have a floor for you. Let us know how we can help with your selection.

              • Staff Reviewer

                A:

Full refinishing will take slightly under a 1/32” off the veneer of the wood flooring. The thickness of the veneer and how much wear and dents a floor has will determine how many times it can be refinished. Solid hardwood that is ¾” thick may be refinished 4 to 7 or more times depending on how much wood was taken off on each refinishing. We recommend that hardwood floor refinishing be done by a professional and if your not sure if you can refinish your flooring have professional sand and finish expert come to your home and evaluate your flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

Can this be installed on above grade concrete?

                A:

This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.
But can be installed over concrete using our Elastilon underlayment.
What you should know about Elastilon Strong
An Elastilon-backed wood floor is much faster to install than traditional nail or glue-down methods.
Elastilon Strong can be installed on new concrete floors, handling up to 3.9% moisture content. A vapour barrier of at least 6 mil PE should be used below grade and on newly poured concrete above grade where the moisture content is above 3.9%.
Laid down with a 5/8” (15 mm) expansion gap, Elastilon Strong creates a dynamic, floating floor that expands or contracts naturally with the hardwood.
Elastilon Strong has no odor and is free of volatile materials.
                Elastilon Strong gives cushioned comfort.
1/8” (3 mm) thick Elastilon Strong has ratings of IIC 62 and STC 54.
                Thermal resistance: R _ 0,15 (m K) / W
Elastilon Strong carries a 70-year limited warranty. Thank you for your inquiry.

The 3/4" products are designed as a naildown product only. However there is a product called Elastilon that will allow the floor to be installed over concrete or withouth using nails or glue.
I would suggest contacting our Tech and Install Dept. at (800) 366-4204 or for complete installation instructions; Please go to our Website @ LumberLiquidators.com and at the bottom of the page click on Flooring 101, enter Bellawood solid instruction, enter, then click on the PDF to open.
