Morning Star Bamboo - 5/8" x 3-3/4" Prefinished Qing Xiamen Strand Bamboo Flooring - 30 Year Warranty

Morning Star Bamboo Flooring is one of the best bamboo floors on the market today. It is produced from old growth bamboo reeds that are at least 4 years old, thereby increasing hardness. Morning Star Bamboo Flooring creates a naturally beautiful and ecologically friendly product that evokes a feeling of luxury.

Quick Highlights:
- Real Bamboo
- Eco-Friendly
- Low Emission Adhesive
- Glue or Nail Down
- Premium Finish
- 30 Year Warranty

Carbonized
Steamed bamboo, caramelizing the sugar within to change its color.

Strand
Twice as hard as oak, strand bamboo is an optimal choice for busy homes when durability is needed to stand up to the wear and tear of family foot traffic, active kids and even pets.

To make strand bamboo, shredded bamboo fibers are compressed under extreme heat and pressure.  This manufacturing process yields flooring that is even harder and more dense than traditional bamboo floors. Available in a variety of colors to complement and décor, all Morning Star strand bamboo products are finished with premium coating and backed by a 30 year warranty.

And, since bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest, you can feel good about making an environmentally friendly flooring decision.

We undertook a major renovation in our ranch style home this year. We gutted the kitchen, living room & hallway and made an open floor plan. This floor was installed on June 11, 2013, the contractor had to bring in a heavy duty compressor as the product is very dense wood to nail through. It dulled 2 saw blades! Writing this on Thanksgiving night (11/28/13) 5 months after installing it, I continue to love this floor more and more.

Anyone entering the home comments on the floor first, not the granite counter tops, or new cabinets, but the floor. It is very durable. Our 4 year old 90 lb golden retriever runs about like a maniac and has yet to scratch it. The sun has darkened up the flooring bringing out dark highlights and a beautiful character.

Downfall, it scratches easily by moving furniture. I strongly suggest adding felt glides to the legs/ feet of chairs, furniture to protect the finish. Since adding the glides, we haven't experienced any more scratching.

All in all, I want to continue this flooring into the 3 bedrooms instead of the original 43 year old oak flooring that is in the bedrooms.

      A wonderful product, 5 star rating here ! *****

Strand Bamboo In & Carpet Out!

      By HK

      Pros

      • Hard And Durable
      • Very easy to clean

      Cons

        Best Uses

We replaced all the carpeting (1000sq ft) on our second floor with strand bamboo. It is so tough that the carbide blades had to be sharpened, make sure to have spares available.

Three months after the installation, it still looks beautiful! Due to a dark / red color, dust can be more visible. That's how it is, but way much easier to clean compared to carpet. No regrets at all and would do it again.

          Service and delivery comments:

The folks at store #1056 and #1090 were great in asnwering all the questions, taking the order, and coordinating the pickup.

Lumber Liquidators's referred contractor and team were very professional. Minimal mess during and after the installation.

I bought stair noses & built up stairs. This was extremely tough. The bamboo is tough to face-nail to make stair risers. It is expensive & difficult for steps.
Not all boards were the exact same width. I ended up with some gaps that were tough to avoid. When trying to fix gaps, I ended up damaging quite a few boards. At LEAST 15-20% of the boards had blemishes I wasn't willing to use. I cut those areas out & used the boards to start or finish a row. That was disappointing. However, the finished product is beautiful. Everyone who sees the floor now makes a comment about how amazing it looks. I'd say it's worth the trouble!

We installed this in our 9 year-old son's bedroom 1 year ago and it STILL looks amazing. It has withstood every hazard that a group of kids could subject it to (dogs, gravel, dirt, sand, toys, giant toy boxes scraping along the ground)with very few scratches. Very little waste, absolutely no warped boards, and very worth the price. We will be instaling this in the rest of the house!

We are installing this in our second floor and it is gorgeous! I think the color is darker and redder than the online picture- more like the Qing Scorpion. We are glueing it down, due to the hardness, and that took some getting used to, but is easy once you get the hang of it. Mineral spirits removes the excess glue without damaging the wood. Very little wasted wood. Does show dog drool and dust. We couldn't be happier!

                    A:

Natural products such as this bamboo are not waterproof and will react to moisture.
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
Thank you for your interest in our flooring products.

                    A:

Bamboo flooring should be cared for like hardwood flooring. For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.

Bellawood Cleaner works well (use as directed),

In addition, Bona Kemi makes a decent hardwood flooring cleaner.

Do not use oil-type cleaner or wax of any kind.

Bamboo and Hardwood Engineered has a dimensional stability recommended for glue-down on flat and level tile or concrete. Troweled on Moisture Barrier is recommended if subfloor is on or below grade concrete. Always use the same manufacturer of moisture barrier and adhesive or combo type adhesive moisture barrier.

You can glue to well secured flat level ceramic tile or concrete free of contaminates, moisture and sealers.

What should I use to clean my bamboo flooring? Is Murphy's Oil Soap ok?

                    A:

NO OIL SOAP. These cleaners work well with some finishes but not water-based aluminum oxide finish urethane.

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.

Bellawood Cleaner works very well, find it here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/catalog/section.jsp?categoryId=19

In addition, Bona Kemi makes good and safe hardwood flooring cleaner.

No particular endorsements no. Bamboo is a naturally sustainable grass that re-grows spontaneously after harvest.
