Besides Red Oak, White Oak is another extremely popular flooring choice in American homes.
The heartwood is a light brown color and some boards have a pinkish tint or a slight grayish cast.  The sapwood is white to cream.
White Oak's grain is open, with longer rays than Red Oak and occasional swirls and burls.

What is "Rustic Grade"?
Rustic Grade has larger tight knots and the most color variation. Also referred to as #2 or Third grade. It is the perfect choice when character marks and contrasting appearance is desired.

Please note unfinished flooring sold in open, strapped bundles and not sold in boxes.

      Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 3-1/4" White Oak:

Great selection of grains and colors. Durable after applying finish coats. When ordering instead of getting 10% get 15% or more, lots of tongues or grooves missing. That made the job harder to complete.

      Service and delivery comments:

The sales team was helpful in describing product and we were able to order at one store and have delivered to another. When picking up the associate was helpful in loading. Asked what type of nails, did not have the first selection but checked to see if another gauge would work and it would.

        Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 3-1/4" White Oak:

I had to order this wood as a fill-in. I started this project using reclaimed 3/4" x 3-1/4" white oak. I ran out of the used lumber about 130 sq ft shy of completion. This wood is AWESOME!!!!! I only scrapped one piece that was terminally split. This is supposed to be rustic grade, but is as nice as some #1 flooring I've seen at other places. This stuff was all equal dimensions, and all t & g, with very very few imperfections. In retrospect, I probably should have ordered utility grade to match the reclaimed flooring I already had laid. This stuff was much nicer. Had I known how nice, and inexpensive this flooring is, I would have burned the reclaimed stuff, and ordered enough of this to do my whole house. I'm a fan. Nuff said.

          Comments about R.L. Colston 3/4" x 3-1/4" White Oak:

using this flooring on my entire first floor, mixed in some utility grade for more knots and pits. I was going for a dark rustic floor, and this was by far my best choice. Given the price of this flooring, I probably will do my second floor at some point. I was afraid to attempt something like this originally, but it turned out to be far easier than I thought.

The wood looks beautiful, but I was not able to use any of the long boards, and very few of the medium length boards because they were too badly bowed.

I did not install b/c I have never done it before, but my fiance is a builder and he had NO problem installing it. It's a great product and I would add pictures, but we haven't quite finished laying it all down and we are waiting until spring to sand and finish. Eventually I will add some before & after photos. I like that although the flooring is rough....it is ok to have down on the floor just the way it is w/out sanding it for a few months - it's not so rough that you can't walk on it!

A buddy and I installed over 3,000 square feet of this product in my new home. The millwork was very good, which made installation easy. Very little waste for a "rustic" grade. A little bit of filling, and fairly easy sanding. Wound up with a beautiful finished floor that everyone who sees it raves about it! You can't get a better floor for the price! I was going to buy a more expensive grade, but the manager of the local store in Columbus said I should "check out" the rustic grade...good call by him!

                        A:

There are only two basic installations for this product on a concrete floor. One is to use a plywood sub-floor and the other is to use Elastilon.
