I laid out this paper as a vapor barrier for a bamboo floor. This paper is very substantial. It's not cheap, easily torn or wrinkled paper. The slick waterproof layer on top of the paper allows for planks to be slid easily on it and completely prevents it from being snagged or tearing.

Reading through these questions and answers, i was getting more confused. I want to install the Schon 3/8" Chocolate Red Oak and will be nailing it down. I am on a very tight budget and wanted to know what underlayments can i use on a second level 3/4" plywood sub floor?

White Silicone Paper or 15lb felt will work. Building paper is fine for second floor as you do not require vapor barrier. Specialized underpayments can be used if you require sound absorbing properties.
