Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:

I purchased this butcher block to use as a countertop for base cupboards that were added after my kitchen renovation, and matching laminate countertop could not be found. They coordinate beautifully with my maple cupboards and give the kitchen a unified look.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:

I'm doing a partial kitchen renovation to a galley kitchen. I wasn't able to match my granite counter top, so decided to go with oak butcher block and coordinate with wood shelving between my cabinets. The salesman suggested upgrading to the maple because it is a harder wood and was on sale. So glad that I took his suggestion. It's absolutely beautiful! As others have mentioned, there is a lot of variation in the tone. Don't oil it if you want it to stay lighter and uniform in tone. I personally like the variation and use walnut oil to make it a little darker. Highly recommend.

        Service and delivery comments:

I wish my local store kept this in stock or delivery between stores was a little faster. Regardless, everyone on the Lumber Liquidators team has been a pleasure to work with. I really can't speak highly enough about the customer service.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:

I purchased this counter top for my basement wet bar project. I used a hardened maple bowling lane as the bar top but didn't have enough bowling lane to use as the counter top for on top of the cabinet area. I obviously wanted maple to match the bowling lane material. This maple butcher block counter top looks great now that it is finished but does not have the same look as the bowling lane (not a big deal). There is a lot of color variation between pieces of wood (dark and lights) on this counter top which I think looks good, but some might not like the look. I want to point out that the wood that you get needs to be sanded and finished before use. It does not come ready to use out of the box. The counter top I received did have a few imperfections in it so those areas took a little more time to get the desired look. The steps I used to get the counter top ready was a preliminary sanding of 80 grit to bring it down, then 150 grit and then 220 grit. I then used pre-stain conditioner, followed by two coats of natural stain and finally three coats of satin polyurethane. The look after these steps make the counter top really pop. I really like the look of it.

Comments about Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. 1 1/2" x25" x 8 lft Maple Butcher Block Countertop:

This was pretty straight forward to install. Needed to sand down the top and front, cut to length, and apply a finish. We have this as our main countertops, with a sink, but also wanted a food safe finish. I have soaked it with mineral oil several times, and will continue to do so over the next few months. It looks great, we get lots of compliments on it, but there is a lot of color variation. We happen to like it, but the picture is a bit misleading in case you wanted the all light colored maple. I also know some of the pieces are not maple, and not actually solid wood either, but plywood. On some of the end cuts you can see laminated strips. Again, not really an issue, but this isn't 100% solid wood construction. Just thought it was worth mentioning. We are happy though, and the pice was right.

Order was ready to pick up about a week and a half to two weeks after I placed the order.

we wanted an economical counter top replacement. We looked at all the options and decided on butcher block as the most economical. on line searches led us to L.L. and the quite good price, but only available only in 8' and 12'.
Boos Block comes in a slew of widths at twice the cost.
One face side is unusable due to divots knots and blemishes. only one edge is sorta even and neither end is square to that side.
unless you are really good with a skill saw your not getting a square edge so I hope you have some serious wood working chops if you plan on making any kind of join with this product

Made new countertop for old kitchen renovation with this slab. Took a few measurements, carted it over to Master Dave's woodshop where he cut a nice rounded sink hole and beveled the edges to make a perfect fit over old dingy laminate. Glue and screw - kitchen looks like a million bucks for less than $300. Beautiful maple butcher block countertop. How can you go wrong?

Williamsburg Butcher Block Co. Pure Food-Grade Mineral Oil
Butcher Block Mineral Oil is a safe way to keep your butcher block countertops, cutting boards, wooden serving trays and wooden bowls looking like new.
Protect the surface of your butcher block by applying a coat of Williamsburg's food grade mineral oil monthly or as often as needed.
                  1. Make sure the butcher block is clean and completely dry.
                  2. Using a soft clean cloth wipe the oil over the entire butcher block.
                  3. Wait 20 minutes for proper absorption and then wipe off any oil that did not penetrate into the surface of the block or wood surface.
                  4. For new or worn surfaces, apply a second coat.
The use of this oil also helps prevent the wood from shrinking and cracking, a common occurrence with butcher blocks and other wood products used in food preparation.
Unlike vegetable oils, our Kosher certified, vitamin E enriched pure mineral oil effectively inhibits bacteria growth and provides longer lasting protection.

Hi there - in answer to a previous question you indicated that the individual strip width vary from 3/4" to 1".

Does that mean that in one 8lft length piece there are varying strip widths, or are you able to order a specific strip width for one piece?

Unfortunately you cannot order a specific width of the strips in butcher block.
The strips are relatively consistent @ 7/8" wide within a countertop, but bear in mind that these are produced from "trimmings" in the wood milling industry and it will vary depending on the availability of material.
