BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

What makes Bellawood so Unique? We carefully hand select each species from regions across the globe that are known to produce denser woods and that exemplify the species' finest qualities. That's why we say, "It's more than hardwood. It's Bellawood."

Hickory is distinguished by its amazing color variation, superb graining and outstanding durability. Being the hardest of all North American woods, it?s perfect for those who want beauty and durability in high-traffic areas. Its colors run the gamut, from light tans to deep browns with reddish tones interlaced. And its stunning knurled grain is just as appropriate in a modern city loft as a rustic country cabin.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

About "Natural Grade" Flooring:
Natural Grade flooring has some color variation, mineral coloring and small knots. It can also be referred to as #2  or Third Grade. Natural grade flooring will have a slightly longer average plank length compared to Rustic grade products.

It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better—and then there's Bellawood.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory:

We put this beautiful floor in our dining room, living room and master bedroom - about 750 sq ft. The quality of the wood was amazing. None of the wood was wasted because of quality. We did reject a couple small boards because they were darker than the rest, just a personal preference. It has made our rooms so much brighter because of the reflected light from the windows. It gives the rooms such a warm homey feel. Walking on it barefoot is so comforting. Wish we had done this years ago. We no longer have squeaky floors, and the noise transfer from basement to main floor is deadened. Lumber Liquidators professionals installed this floor for us. It took 2 days and 2 hours. They were very quick, tidy, polite and skilled. Very pleased with the results. Would recommend to family and friends, and will always have wood floors in our homes.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory:

We purchased this Hickory from Lumber Liquidators after searching around our local dealers for other Hickory and finding the cost to be over twice the price of the Lumber Liquidator prices. We did have to travel about 700 miles to pick it up and get back home but, for over 900 square feet, it was a small price to pay for superior quality Hickory. We had it professionally installed and the installers remarked about the quality of the wood and uniformity. After they were done, they told us that they only had to discard four or five pieces of over 900 square feet they used. We did have three small pieces that had to be replaced after we closely inspected and cleaned the flooring the first time. I would very much recommend Bellawood Natural Hickory purchased from Lumber Liquidators.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3" Natural Hickory:

The vast majority is of optimal size, however watch for under size boards to keep the seams tight. Watch for plainsawn boards with surface defects. I allowed about 5% for drop and culls. The display in the showroom where I purchased the flooring looked less than ideal with ugly gaps between boards, but don't let that scare you. Careful attention when installing will pay off big time. This flooring is pretty darn good but you have to do your job as installer to fit it correctly. Personally I would not use it in a kitchen or bath as it is prefinished and not as water resistant as a sanded in place floor. Remember hardwood flooring is tough as nails but one thing that will surely defeat it is water. Yes I would use it again, but cannot comment on durability.

                        A:

The formula for the Bellawood finish is a custom mix that has a 50/50 gloss. The sheen you get is shinier than satin, but not as shiny as semi -gloss.
Our Bellawood floors are factory pre-finished with an aluminum oxide water-base urethane using a multi-step application process. (8) coats are applied to most domestic and exotic wood species and each coat is hard-cured using Ultraviolet (UV) light. Bellawood pre-finished flooring offers superior wear resistance and is backed by a limited 100-year warranty! (The exact formula is propietary information)
The average dry film thickness for Bellawood is about 3.65 mils – one of the highest in the industry.
Maintaining the appearance of any wood floor requires close attention to in-door climate controls during seasonal changes.

                        Unfortunately not.
This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.
But can be installed over concrete using our Elastilon underlayment.
What you should know about Elastilon Strong
An Elastilon-backed wood floor is much faster to install than traditional nail or glue-down methods.
Elastilon Strong can be installed on new concrete floors, handling up to 3.9% moisture content. A vapour barrier of at least 6 mil PE should be used below grade and on newly poured concrete above grade where the moisture content is above 3.9%.

                        A:

As with many hardwoods Hickory can split if the proper installation tools are not used.
                        Fortunately we do address these specific concerns in our installation instructions in detail;
                        [EXOTIC WOOD NAILING TIPS]:
Tongue fracture and surface dimpling during installation is common and can be minimized by (1) Installing the flooring in proper lighting (2) using the correct nail thickness, (3) using the recommended shoe adaptor, or (4) changing the angle of nail entry.
To further reduce the occurrence of surface dimpling and tongue fracture the use of flooring nailers with a thinner 18-20 gage cleat nail may be needed for the harder exotics species. In addition, many installers will sometimes temporarily adjust the nailer angle by applying layers of duct tape to the bottom foot plate of the nailer. The use of an over-size base or foot plate to distribute the nailing force is encouraged. If however, surface dimpling or tongue fracture occurs when nailing the denser species, drilling pilot holes and hand nailing may be required.
Use caution when fastening the harder exotics with Staplers. The drive bar in Staplers are wider and if fasteners are overdriven can act like a wood chisel, splitting tongues. Do not mix fasteners when nailing. Staples and cleats hold differently when mixed can result in irregular seasonal gapping and or movement. When face or top nailing, pick areas of the grain or pattern that would best hide touch-up fillers.
If nailers prove difficult fastening the lower profile 3/8”or 5/16” floors, many installers will use 100% urethane wood floor adhesives rather than nailers, especially with the more brittle species like; Australian Cypress, Brazilian Walnut, Teaks. Do not use significantly bowed, crooked or twisted boards. Use a wood spline or slip tongue whenever a change of board direction
is needed, wood splines should be both glued and nailed into place. Forcing or pounding floor boards together with a rubber mallet during assembly may burse or damage unprotected board edges.

How would this product work on slab-on-grade? Our century old 3-story rowhouse has a street elevation lower level. I’m planning on floating floors once the slab is leveled. We don’t have any moisture issues, but I would still use some type of barrier. I prefer not to have a plywood subfloor.

In order to install this 3/4 solid product over a slab our Elastilon #10002503 product would be required.

                        A:

The formula for the Bellawood finish is a custom mix that has a 50/50 gloss. The sheen you get is shinier than satin, but not as shiny as semi -gloss.
