BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Brazilian Cherry Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

We Redefined Quality, Again. We set the quality standard by introducing a groundbreaking finish so tough it allowed us to offer one of the first 50 year warranties. Others followed. So, we raised the bar again. Now Bellawood is backed by a Certified 100 Year Transferable Warranty that covers you and generations to come.

Brazilian Cherry is one of our most popular woods because of its ideal balance of rich beauty and proven durability. Its majestic colors range from a yellowish tan to reddish brown when just milled, and it deepens significantly to an exquisite deep cherry brown as it ages. For spaces that demand durability year after year, residential or commercial, Brazilian Cherry is an excellent flooring choice.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

Beautiful, tough wood

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Brazilian Cherry:

We had this flooring installed in our master bedroom. Our contractor said the wood is very tough to saw through (3/4") but because of this he feels it will last and be durable for a long time. The flooring was just finished being installed today, so can't respond to durability, yet. It looks beautiful, though. We were warned that the wood will darken over time, esp in areas where the sun or light shines on it most (means the floor will be lighter under where furniture will sit). Because it is real wood, we had to acclimate it to our room for 10 days before being installed, so that put us behind on moving into our room. But we don't care because in the long run, we know we have quality flooring and it is worth the wait.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Brazilian Cherry:

The Brazilian cherry product from Bellawood has to be the hardest floor surface I have ever experienced next to bamboo. I've accidentally dropped my carpenter's hammer on the floor and had one heck of a time finding the miniscule dent that it left.

please give some clear guidance can your 3/4" X 5" Brazilian cherry by Bellawood be glued directly down to "above grade" concrete slab with the use of a moisture barrier, without having issues or voiding warranty

          A:

We do not recommend gluing 3/4" solid flooring direclty to a concrete slab. You can use our Elastilon self adhesive underlayment and float the floor over the concrete slab. • Q:

        Hello,

The instructions for this wood indicate 18 ga cleats, however, my nailer uses 16 ga L cleats. Would this be a problem or are the 16 ga cleats too large for this wood?

Also, I saw that there is an installation method for the 5" boards that would add wood glue toward the groove end. Question there as I would be installing over 3/4" tongue & groove subfloor. My thought was given the tongue and groove subfloor, I would defnitely want felt underneath to minimize any subsequent squeaking. This install will be in a kitchen, so I wanted to know whether you thought it more important to glue the back ends vs. laying down a felt underpad.

        Thanks in advance!

FLOATING INSTALLATION – Flooring not attached to the subfloor
The Elastilon Installation System allows the floating installation of solid wood flooring over wood and concrete substrates. To maintain your warranty follow closely the Elastilon installation guidelines found on the Lumber Liquidators website. Note recommendations for moisture barriers.

How dent and scratch resistant is cherry wood flooring. Compared to other hard woods is it the hardest
Asked on 9/17/2013 by none from Center Harbor NH

          A:

Brazilian Cherry ( Trade Name: Jatoba) has a Janka Rating: 2820 compare to red Oak @ 1290.
It is not the hardest flooring available.
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
This product question would be better answered by our Sales Department, they are more familiar with all of our flooring products and can better assist you with your questions.

CAn you use a steam mop (no chemicals) to clean the floor
        Asked on 5/18/2013 by noelle

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.

      • Q:

Many installers say that Brazilian Cherry 5" width must be nailed down and glued down together. They say that if it not glued down, the board is much more susceptible to change in humidity and can display wide gaps. I did not see glue down requirement in installation guide. So should I go for glue in addition to nails? Thanks!
Asked on 5/12/2013 by DG from NJ

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Normally hardwood, the width sizes of 2"-3 1/2" are referred to as strip floorings. Widths sizes 4"- 6" are referred to as boards and 8"- 12" are refereed to as Planks.

Because wide planks are subject to center splits, it is recommended to also secure the flooring from the top with additional fasteners, either screw and plugs, or a decorative exposed top-nail.

Strip and board hardwood generally only need to be blind nailed at the tongue. Board installations can benefit from additional back gluing. This is done by omitting the felt building paper and applying urethane adhesive (1/4" thick bead in a tight snaky pattern) with a caulk gun to the back of each board, then nail.

          Type "Wide" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101
and select Wide Plank Flooring installation Tips (pdf)

Some installers recommend gluing tongue and groove ends only for 4" or wider boards. I've done it myself without issue.

Could rhis be used in Bathroom
Asked on 3/25/2013 by shel from Dayron Oh

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Wood flooring can be installed through out the home, but there are concerns about installation in bathrooms. Bathrooms are areas of high moisture. With full baths there are concerns with water spills, high humidity due to steamy showers, and toilet over flows. Elevated moisture in a full bath can create finish issues, board warping, and buckling. When installing in these areas extreme caution is advised and it is recommended to choose wood flooring with high stability. Make sure you have good air flow and use mats to absorb moisture when coming out of the tube or shower. Many wood floors will not be warranted in a bathroom application. An alternative would be our Tranquility vinyl Click flooring. The Tranquility vinyl click flooring looks like real wood, but will not be affected by moisture like wood floors.

is the flooring normally installed under cabinets
Asked on 12/13/2012 by Bob from MA

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Flooring should be installed AFTER cabinets are installed. This is because flooring needs to expand and contract freely. Expansion gaps are needed around perimeter and around any fixed vertical obstructions. Quarter Round molding or shoe molding is used to cover the expansion gap.
