BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Select Brazilian Cherry Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

We Redefined Quality, Again. We set the quality standard by introducing a groundbreaking finish so tough it allowed us to offer one of the first 50 year warranties. Others followed. So, we raised the bar again. Now Bellawood is backed by a Certified 100 Year Transferable Warranty that covers you and generations to come.

Brazilian Cherry is one of our most popular woods because of its ideal balance of rich beauty and proven durability. Its majestic colors range from a yellowish tan to reddish brown when just milled, and it deepens significantly to an exquisite deep cherry brown as it ages. For spaces that demand durability year after year, residential or commercial, Brazilian Cherry is an excellent flooring choice.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

About "Select Grade" Flooring
Select Grade has the most uniform color with no large knots and the longest average lenght of planks. Also referred to as First Grade.

Crafted to a Higher Standard. Every board is milled to precise specifications to ensure ease of install and topped with our industry-leading scratch-resistant finish. In fact, quality control engineers walk over 12 miles a day inspecting each board, before and after the finishing process.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Brazilian Cherry:

While the product is pleasing to the eye, it was my installer who made the product work. It took an
extra week to install and there was a great deal of wasted material because the product was mis-milled. I do not recommend the Brazilian Cherry because it took so much extra material, effort, and time to complete the job. This was an expensive and serious disappointment.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 5" Brazilian Cherry:

I recently installed this in our master bedroom. I was really looking forward to doing this product as it is very beautiful. However, it came with many headaches. The board widths were not a consistent size. This resulted in several gaps where one board would be about 3 or 4 mm narrower than the board it was joined up with. Once I realized what the problem was, (half way through the floor), I then started arranging the boards one row at a time by comparing their widths to ensure that they would all have a common edge for the next row to join up with. Of course this slowed down the project considerably and also resulted in several boards that are unusable due to not having enough to complete an entire row with.

All in all, I can't believe that Bob Vila would recommend this product if he is getting the same quality product that I received.

We just got these floors installed in over 1600 sq. feet in our house, including two sets of stairs and we couldn't love them any more! The color is gorgeous, and the wide 5" planks make it look very modern. It instantly updated our house when it replaced the 1990's pine thin-planked wood floors and yarn carpet. Highly recommend this color and style.

I installed over 700 sq ft. of 3/4"x5" Brazilian cherry this weekend and there was one (1) board that had a slight manufacturing defect. we basically picked the boards from the box and installed. The installation was flawless and the flooring is beautiful. Looking forward to the floor getting it's beautiful red patina.

an excellent product, 3/4" thickness, ensuring it can be refinished multiple times, if the need arises.

use a professional to install this product.
widths were consistent among the planks.
used an underlayment on which the product was installed.

            Service and delivery comments:

delivery was prompt, in good condition.
the driver dropped off the boxes inside the house. each box (23.3 sq feet) weighs about 90 lbs.

my only beef is that the email I received from Lumber Liquidators shows an order date of 07/01 when the actual order date was 07/15.

                    Hello,

The instructions for this wood indicate 18 ga cleats, however, my nailer uses 16 ga L cleats. Would this be a problem or are the 16 ga cleats too large for this wood?

Also, I saw that there is an installation method for the 5" boards that would add wood glue toward the groove end. Question there as I would be installing over 3/4" tongue & groove subfloor. My thought was given the tongue and groove subfloor, I would defnitely want felt underneath to minimize any subsequent squeaking. This install will be in a kitchen, so I wanted to know whether you thought it more important to glue the back ends vs. laying down a felt underpad.

                    Thanks in advance!

Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.

Many installers say that Brazilian Cherry 5" width must be nailed down and glued down together. They say that if it not glued down, the board is much more susceptible to change in humidity and can display wide gaps. I did not see glue down requirement in installation guide. So should I go for glue in addition to nails? Thanks!

                    • CUSTOMER CARE

                      A:

Normally hardwood, the width sizes of 2"-3 1/2" are referred to as strip floorings. Widths sizes 4"- 6" are referred to as boards and 8"- 12" are refereed to as Planks.

Because wide planks are subject to center splits, it is recommended to also secure the flooring from the top with additional fasteners, either screw and plugs, or a decorative exposed top-nail.

Strip and board hardwood generally only need to be blind nailed at the tongue. Board installations can benefit from additional back gluing. This is done by omitting the felt building paper and applying urethane adhesive (1/4" thick bead in a tight snaky pattern) with a caulk gun to the back of each board, then nail.

                      Type "Wide" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101
and select Wide Plank Flooring installation Tips (pdf)

Some installers recommend gluing tongue and groove ends only for 4" or wider boards. I've done it myself without issue.

                      A:

Wood flooring can be installed through out the home, but there are concerns about installation in bathrooms. Bathrooms are areas of high moisture. With full baths there are concerns with water spills, high humidity due to steamy showers, and toilet over flows. Elevated moisture in a full bath can create finish issues, board warping, and buckling. When installing in these areas extreme caution is advised and it is recommended to choose wood flooring with high stability. Make sure you have good air flow and use mats to absorb moisture when coming out of the tube or shower. Many wood floors will not be warranted in a bathroom application. An alternative would be our Tranquility vinyl Click flooring. The Tranquility vinyl click flooring looks like real wood, but will not be affected by moisture like wood floors.

                      A:

Flooring should be installed AFTER cabinets are installed. This is because flooring needs to expand and contract freely. Expansion gaps are needed around perimeter and around any fixed vertical obstructions. Quarter Round molding or shoe molding is used to cover the expansion gap.
