Flooring 101The Floor Finder
Here are some pictures of our new floor. Its Spice oak. It went down pretty easy except it got a little tricky around the fire place., but I just took my time. Didn't have much waste brought back two boxes.

Thanks

Comments about Casa de Colour 3/4" x 5" Spice Oak:

We replaced a 25 year old carpet with this product and we love it. In some of the reviews I have read about being too many small pieces, but we were able to use them in closets and distribute them about the floor as we worked. One thing we did do was when we got to the end of a row we tried to find a board that wouldn't have much waste. This took more time, but worth it. Cutting around doors is a pain because you can't see under the door casing so that takes time. but once you are clear of the door you move along. This was my first flooring job and it has been fun.

The Case De Colour flooring comes with a micro bevel edge on the short and long sides of the planks. The wood is covered with a water base finish with added aluminum oxide for better durability and wear resistance.

              Hello!
I need to buy around 1000 square feets of 3/4"x 5". I wonder is that the thickness off all 1000 square feets would coming exactly the same 3/4" ? This Spice oak by Casa de Colour are USA'product, is it right ? What kind of the material to stain the wood surface?
              Thanks a lot.

                A:

This is a USA harvested, milled and finished product (natural grade).
                The milling tolerences are;

                Natural/Rustic Grade: ≤0.025”

Please note, any visible gaps/overwood less than the maximum tolerances above are not considered defects and do not apply to the 5% defect/waste allowance based on the species guidelines. Pieces that exhibit gaps/overwood in excess of these tolerances should be culled at the time of installation. Installation constitutes acceptance. Only those visible gaps/overwood in excess of these tolerances apply to the 5% defect/waste allowance.
NOFMA/NWFA clearly state that due to the dimensional change due to exposure to environmental conditions, milling tolerances are only valid at the time of original milling at the factory. You cannot measure the width or thickness of a board after that time and compare to established milling tolerances. It is not a valid measurement.

For the purposes of determining acceptability at the time of installation (assuming proper acclimation under controlled conditions), the installer must use the tolerances for visible gapping/overwood. To do this, the product must be assembled tightly according to good installation practices (not less than 6” between the ends of adjacent boards, no two adjacent boards can be the same length, etc.). Assuming proper acclimation and good assembly/installation practices.
                The finish process is propietary.
                Thank you for your question.

I am so glad you asked.
We do not recommend any soaps, oils, or polishes on our products.
we recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes.

What is actually covered by the 25 year warranty? The wood should last a lifetime.

The finish is warranted against any defects with the eception of normal wear, scratching and denting that can occur after the floor is installed. It will also cover any defects in the milling of the product such as high/low edges, tongue and groove, etc...

                A:

What you probably need is called a "slip tongue" and should be available at your local Lumber Liquidators, if not they can order it for you.
