Flooring 101The Floor Finder
Lumber Liquidators-

I love the Brazilian cherry floors! I used the 5/16 x 2 1/4 Select Brazilian Cherry. I was skeptical about using the 5/16 at first, but the wood is so hard that you have to use a glue down installation! The floor came out great and I love the variation. I cant wait to use this floor on my next remodel. I remodel "flip" houses and this home sold to the first person that walked in- the floors really made a WOW!

Thank You!

BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Cherry Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

Unsurpassed Beauty, Generation after Generation. Each Bellawood Prefinished Hardwood floor now comes with a Certified 100 Year Transferable Warranty. Sure, we know few people stay in their home for a century. But isn't nice to see a company so confident in their flooring's finish they're willing to guarantee it for that long?

Brazilian Cherry is one of our most popular woods because of its ideal balance of rich beauty and proven durability. Its majestic colors range from a yellowish tan to reddish brown when just milled, and it deepens significantly to an exquisite deep cherry brown as it ages. For spaces that demand durability year after year, residential or commercial, Brazilian Cherry is an excellent flooring choice.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Cherry:

This has transformed our house. I am 100% satisfied with this flooring. We covered about 700 sq feet using elastilon beneath. It went SO well. There were very few warped boards (usually the darker toned ones). I don't think we had even 5% that was unusable.

I liked that the boards were lighter in weight than the thicker boards boards available. And, they clicked into each other very well.

The color is not too dark, and not too light. It's a really HARD wood. And I think it's a VERY fair price.

Also, we have a 100 pound dog and he hasn't come close to scratching it. Love. It.

The product is gorgeous!!! However, the wood is extremely hard and the installer had difficulty nailing it in. The job took four days longer than expected because they had to have a special nail gun, and it already busy on another job.

I had this flooring professionally installed today and I must say I'm glad I did. If you don't have patience get it installed professionally. The wood is absolutely beautiful and it blends nicely with my furniture. It does attract dirt from your shoes easily though. I suggest you buy the felt sliders to place under the legs of your furniture. For what I paid for the wood I refuse to get it scratched unnecessarily.

          Service and delivery comments:

Check your order very carefully before you leave the store. I used the installers from Lumber Liquidators and they were good.

We have it in our office and living room. We have a ton of scratches on it from our 2 medium sized dogs and the office chair scratched it in front of our desk. The floor in front of the bath room has a spot on it where the clear coat is coming up and there are a couple other spots where the clear coat is coming off from light mopping.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Cherry:

Floors look amazing, but this wood is just too thin. Spend the extra money and get thicker wood. Thicker flooring makes it easier to install and is less prone to crack and warp. I can walk around my house and find cracks that weren't there when the wood was installed. Because it's so thin it's prone to more movement, thus it cracks much easier than thicker wood. We've had some warping when the humidity levels are very high during the summer, but nothing major. I did have to face nail a few boards that started to warp and pop up a bit. The thin wood also makes it very difficult to install. This wood does not slide together easily and needed to be "assembled" piece by piece and tapped in with a hammer before nailing down. Overall I would recommend going with a thicker wood. I would recommend this particular wood, just in a thicker variety.

I like this product very much my wife loves it. My only complaint is the 5/16ths will not work with my nailer so I had to drill and hand nail very time consuming but well worth it. I have replaced two rooms of carpet and have seven more rooms to go.

                  A:

Scratches and dents are not covered because individual use can vary. Also, most manufacturers do not guard against wear conditions driven by consumer use of a product, including flooring products. Scratches and dents are beyond a manufacturer's ability to control.
                  WHAT’S COVERED
Your Bellawood floor is warranted against finish wear from normal household conditions resulting in the exposure of the bare wood.
It is also warranted against grading, finishing and milling defects in excess of the waste factor. Waste factor is an industry term that refers to an allowance for manufacturing and natural defects in flooring and is represented by a percentage. While board selection may vary according to personal preference, waste is determined by NWFA standards. Accordingly, it is warranted that no more than 5% of the total square footage of your purchase of a domestic species and 10% for exotic species will exhibit any manufacturing or natural defects.
                  WHAT’S NOT COVERED
Moisture (or Lack of Moisture): Damages caused by moisture (such as leaking pipes, spills, wet mopping, pets, relative humidity, subfloor moisture, etc.) are excluded. Moisture (and dryness) can cause issues such as checks, cupping, crowning, warping, buckling, peeling, twisting, or gapping.
Other Site and Environmental Conditions: Defects or damages resulting from extreme indoor conditions (such as extreme heat, radiant heat, or exposure to sand); indentations and scratches (caused by pets, furniture, appliances, tools, heels, toys, etc.); improper maintenance and accidents; misuse and abuse; and any wear that conflicts with the care instructions on www.bellawood.com are not covered.
Gloss reduction: Fading or loss of gloss is not finish wear and not a product defect.

We have dogs in our home. How well does this product stand up to them running around on the floors? Obviously, we expect some wear, but will it be scratched up in no time, to the extent where this would be a really poor choice? If so, what would be a better product for a home with pets?

Bellawood products will offer you the most durable and resistant finish in the market. In addition, harder species of wood like Brazilian Walnut, Brazilian Cherry and Brazilian Teak will offer you more resistance to denting. Feel free to contact our product specialists at 800-476-0007 with any additional questions or to further discuss your project. Thank you for your inquiry.

Lumber Liquidators is committed to responsible business practices as a central operating philosophy of our company. To that end, our lumber sourcing complies with U.S. laws and regulations including the Lacey Act, which prohibits the illegal trade of wildlife, fish, and plants, including lumber.

In addition, we work directly with a select group of vendors and mills with whom we have cultivated long-standing relationships to ensure the legal and environmentally-responsible sourcing and production of our products. Our suppliers agree to comply with our Supplier Code of Conduct with Respect to Environmental and Social Responsibility which requires, among other things, that their operations and the products they supply to us comply with all national and other applicable laws and regulations for the countries in which they operate.

We visit our suppliers’ mills and forests and assess their adherence to our code of conduct and its protocols concerning environmental, labor and health and safety matters. In the past, we have stopped using certain suppliers because we were not satisfied with the credibility of their responses to detailed questions about compliance issues and we regularly decline to pursue business with potential new suppliers that cannot provide evidence of compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

All of our Brazilian suppliers are members of the government-sanctioned Sisflora system which tracks harvesting plans and timber sources for the timber industry in Brazil. Thank you for your inquiry.

Solid hardwood is a solid piece of wood where as engineered is plywood layers with a quality veneer wear layer.
Multiply the length x the width for each area and add a 10 % waiste factor for this exotic species.

What size staples are recommended for installing this floor?

                  A:

I would not use a staple for this species of wood
                  (5/16” to 5/8”) LOWER PROFILE
Special nailers, shims or shoe accessories are usually required
CLEAT NAILER (example) 18-20 gage cleats
                  Powernail Model 200p/250m/50p/50m (Pneumatic) Cleat nails 1”- 1 ½ ” long
                  [EXOTIC WOOD NAILING TIPS]:
 Tongue fracture and surface dimpling during installation is common and can be minimized by (1) Installing the flooring in
proper lighting (2) using the correct nail thickness, (3) using the recommended shoe adaptor, or (4) changing the angle of
                  nail entry.
 To further reduce the occurrence of surface dimpling and tongue fracture the use of flooring nailers with a thinner 18-20
gage cleat nail may be needed for the harder exotics species. In addition, many installers will sometimes temporarily adjust
the nailer angle by applying layers of duct tape to the bottom foot plate of the nailer. The use of an over-size base or foot
plate to distribute the nailing force is encouraged. If however, surface dimpling or tongue fracture occurs when nailing the
denser species, drilling pilot holes and hand nailing may be required.
 Use caution when fastening the harder exotics with Staplers. The drive bar in Staplers are wider and if fasteners are
overdriven can act like a wood chisel, splitting tongues. Do not mix fasteners when nailing. Staples and cleats hold differently
when mixed can result in irregular seasonal gapping and or movement. When face or top nailing, pick areas of the grain or
pattern that would best hide touch-up fillers.
 If nailers prove difficult fastening the lower profile 3/8”or 5/16” floors, many installers will use 100% urethane wood floor
adhesives rather than nailers, especially with the more brittle species like; Australian Cypress, Brazilian Walnut, Teaks.
