I love the look. I have many antiques in my home, all a different type of wood. This flooring is perfect since it has multiple shades. Very sturdy, already had a friend drop a glass of wine and it cleaned up beautifully

After many hours of investigation on proper installment, it still proved to be rather difficult. However, once layed it's a beautiful floor

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Teak:
I wish I could give 2 different ratings for appearance and installation.
The floor looks stunning. It gets more beautiful with time too, after about 6 months the grain has become more apparent and looks gorgeous. The wood is quite varied in color which could be considered a plus or a minus. I love it because it matches almost any other wood we have in the house (trim, furniture, decor).
This floor is also quite durable. We have a 100 lb dog, a cat with a penchant for knockings things to the ground and a clumsy cook (me). There really are no scratches anywhere but the kitchen and even those are few and aren't noticeable unless you really look for them.
HOWEVER, the installation gets a negative star rating. To be fair i was warned glue-down would be a mess but i went ahead anyway. It was the most exasperating, stressful and messy thing I've ever done. I cannot express strongly enough how much i do not recommend people do this themselves. Either hire someone or buy different flooring. Despite how much i love the floor it was still not worth it.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Teak:
I had this flooring put down over a concrete slab in my foyer, living room, and dining room. The many different tones in the teak are absolutely beautiful. The floor was professionally installed - although a do-it-yourselfer, after watching the guys install the floor by glueing it down after various sealing and skim-coats, I am SO glad I did not attempt to install the floor myself.

Easy to install and great for first timers installing it themselves. My wife and I installed this floor by ourselves and it looks great!

While the shiny surface shows beautifully for open houses, it shows smudges and shadows easily and requires regular cleaning with water and mild detergent. The Bona System does not work well on this surface.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Teak:
We were originally going to install carpet in our living and dining room areas. I am so glad we didn't. The color variations in this wood is stunning and looks very elegant. We constantly get compliments on the floor. We have a 2 year old son and the floor has held up well with the exception of a few superficial scratches which should be able to be buffed out. The only downside, as others have mentioned, is the install. It takes a little longer and the glue is a little messy, but the end result is worth it! Word to the wise, CLEAN THE GLUE AS YOU GO. The manufacturer of the glue makes a remover that works well, but it is VERY difficult to get off the wood once the glue has dried. However, it can be done with some patience and time.

This floor is awesome in our dining room. Very attractive, a little difficult to install due to tounge splitting. Make sure you use a Powernail Model 200 and 1 1/4 cleats. Watch out for the splinters! I amy never lay carpet again, this floor is great!
Service and delivery comments:
Ordered online and arrived a week early, everything was in great condition. Customer service at lumber Liquidators is a great asset, I called three times and every time they were very helpfull.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Teak:
This looks like it will be a nice floor when I'm completed with my project. Barely got the boxes out of my truck before I got this review request, so my opinion could change. The varied grains and colors is very attractive and I'm getting anxious to get more down so that I can see the contrast. Overall, I'm happy with the product so far.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 5/16" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Teak:
I had this installed on the entire ground floor of my condo, except the bathroom and kitchen. It is breathtaking. One caveat- the narrowness of the boards make it a bit more labor intensive. My installers weren't the greatest, so i'll be rubbing off glue smudges for some time to come. it was glued directly to the foundation with an adhesive that also serves as a moisture barrier.
I chose it because of the hardness of teak- much harder than oak. Caveat: I love the natural variation in color of the unstained wood. There is quite a range of coloration, so if you want more of an even tone, you will want something else. I love the idea that the color is solid through and through, and the finish seems to be very durable! Quite a gloss to the finish- more than I expected, but beautiful.

Bellawood Installation Instructions - www.lumberliquidators.com/assets/images/installation/bellawood.pdfQ:
Can this floor be installed over an existing 2 1/2" pine floor? If so can I install parallel or must it be perpendicular?1 answer
A:
It is recommended to run the new wood flooring perpendicular over the old (or add a 3/8" minimum CDX first).Q:
I know that this is one of the hardest woods available, but i'm wondering if the thinness of this wood affects it's resistance to denting. I know that very often with engineered floors even the hardest woods dent and scratch extremely easily. I realize this wood is thicker than an engineered but it is still significantly thinner that a 3/4 plank. So despite the JANKA rating being the same i'm wondering if realistically there are some disadvantages to a thinner plank1 answer
A:
I suppose that this thinner 5/16" low profile product may dent easier than a full 3/4" product but will perform better than an engineered product with a thin top veneer.Q:
Can this product be used on walls such as wainscoting? I have another idea for you. Fabricate a 1/2" wide or so piece of holly (T & G) to install beside each plank to give a teak and holly look. Thanks.1 answer
A:
Yes it could be used in this way but is considered experimental and cannot be warrantied for this application.Q:
When you glue this product installed over concrete, do you glue the tong and grove or to the fllor?1 answer
A:
This flooring will be glued directly to the concrete slab.Q:
We have personally installed this flooring in 2 bedrooms so far. We are about to start on the Master Bedroom, which has a small office area with computer. What type chair mat is best to use to prevent the rolling office chair from marring the floor surface? What types should be avoided so as not to discolor the wood?1 answer
A:
I would just google chair mats for hardwood floors to find a recommended type to protect your wood flooring.Q:
I want my shower floor to look like a spa. Is this the kind of real teak that can withstand moisture ? And, can I lay it on top of existing ceramic tile? Is this real teak ? Thank you, Fran1 answer
A:
This is indeed real Teak wood but this pre-finished solid wood flooring is not designed to be installed in a shower or wet area.Q:
For the top nailing of the boards near the wall we used a Porter Cable finish nailer with 2" 16 gauge nails (FN16200). Even though the nail was in the center (width-wise) and a couple of inches from one end, it split the board. Not all the way up to the surface but still noticeable. Is it common to use a thinner gauge nail/top-nailer on these boards. I'm using a 20 gauge cleat floor nailer and that only occasionally splits a tongue.1 answer
A:
Yes it is. I always recommend pre-drilling and hand nailing on exotic species to prevent the boards from splitting.
