BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Select Brazilian Cherry Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

Unsurpassed Beauty, Generation after Generation. Each Bellawood Prefinished Hardwood floor now comes with a Certified 100 Year Transferable Warranty. Sure, we know few people stay in their home for a century. But isn't nice to see a company so confident in their flooring's finish they're willing to guarantee it for that long?

Brazilian Cherry is one of our most popular woods because of its ideal balance of rich beauty and proven durability. Its majestic colors range from a yellowish tan to reddish brown when just milled, and it deepens significantly to an exquisite deep cherry brown as it ages. For spaces that demand durability year after year, residential or commercial, Brazilian Cherry is an excellent flooring choice.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

About "Select Grade" Flooring
Select Grade has the most uniform color with no large knots and the longest average lenght of planks. Also referred to as First Grade.

Crafted to a Higher Standard. Every board is milled to precise specifications to ensure ease of install and topped with our industry-leading scratch-resistant finish. In fact, quality control engineers walk over 12 miles a day inspecting each board, before and after the finishing process.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

This was the 5th room that I have finished with Brazilian Cherry - - - love the look, color, durability. Recognizing that it is a very hard wood, I had no real problems with the installation. Assuming I have a chance to installI another wood floor, I will definitely use Brazilian Cherry again.

This is the 1st time I have used Bellawood andI was very disappointed in the quality of Bellawood - scratched boards, damaged grooves / tongues, inconsistent board width and color and probably the most frustrating was an orange paint on the edges of many boards. As others have noted, based on the cost, I expect a high quality product and unfortunately Bellawood quality is not up to par and did not meet my expectations.

Finally, is it a 50 year warranty or 100 year warranty? Carton states 100 year.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

Overall we love our new floor, but there are a couple of things I learned while installing it. First, I did get several boards that were a very strange yellow color. We planned for about 10% extra, so it was not a big deal to cull these out. More importantly, I would caution anyone installing this flooring to be on the lookout for pieces that are a slightly different width from the rest. I would expect this on a lower cost flooring, but not on a floor that costs what we paid for this. I want to stress that there were only a few pieces that had this problem, but once you lay one, the rest around it will be effected and you will have small gaps. My advice is to take your time, plan for this and cull these pieces out before you nail them. You'll be able to see them if you look closely at the board next to it or run your finger across the end joint. Finally, I would not recommend using a nailer larger than 18 gauge, which is what is recommended in the instructions. I experienced very little tongue splitting with the 18 gauge, but with a larger gauge nailer it would have been a nightmare (I know this because when I face nailed the first course with a 15 gauge finish gun, nearly all of the boards split so I re-did it with a 2" brad nailer- success!). When I rented the floor nailer, I had two different people (not at LL) tell me I need to use a larger gauge nail. I'm glad I read the instructions and ignored their "advice".

These floors were Beautiful when first installed a year ago and I do mean beautiful. We were really disappointed by how easily they scratched. A pan falls from a bottom cabinet and it dents. A kitchen chair etc. The floor is still looking great in the formal living room but not holding up in the frequently used ares of our home. I am recommending this flooring if you dont plan on using it in your living areas. If you are using it in kitchen and family area look at something else. Although this was supposed to be high up on the hardness scale it is not that durable!

Excellent product -- worth going with the Bellawood line. Staff at LL was helpful but not pushy -- great transaction. Ordered 1114sf, installed 986sf and then returned five unopened boxes (113.75sf) -- waste was minimal. Great color, darkens rapidly after installation. Looks even better a few weeks later.

We've now installed this floor in a library, dining room, hallway, and parlor. We are currently installing it in the main hallway. The flooring is simply beautiful! It adds so much character and elegance to a room.

The wood is very hard and you will go through a few saw blades during the process but it is worth it. Also, be sure to use flooring nails rather than staples. Staples did not set reliably when we tried them. We switched to flooring nails and have not had any issues since.

We really love the look of this floor. The only complaint I have with it was the amount of small pieces that were under 2 feet which I didn't want to use. It was about an extra box worth of waste which isn't cheap.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

I installed Bellawood select maple in my 30x20 living room and used this Bellawood Brazilian cherry to make two parallel courses of contrasting accent strips around the perimeter. I knew going into it that it would be a challenging project, as butting long grain and end grain always is, but the milling of this product and the color variation made it all the more difficult. First, the milling - you would think that all LL Bellawood product would be milled to uniform specs, but the cherry T&G didn't come close to matching the maple, and the cherry was 0.03" less thick than the maple. This meant I had to re-rout the T&G on both edges of every single cherry board, and I had to plane the excess thickness off the back of every single maple board, to bring them down to 0.72". The maple was generally excellent, uniform quality. The cherry was all over the map: dark red, light red, orange, pink, some with an oakish kind of grain; cracked tongues, knots that caused warp, milling burn marks, some sapwood mixed in with the heartwood. I bought an extra box to achieve a more uniform appearance; will use the misc leftovers for some non-flooring project I guess. OK, now for some favorable aspects: The aluminum oxide finish is very tough; the moisture content of both species was within tolerance right off the bat after adjustment for specific gravity ratings; and the price at LL is very reasonable. Yes, you can buy higher quality from another source and pay twice the price and save some headaches. On balance, which is better? I don't know. For me, in retrospect, it would be a close call. For a smaller room, I think I'd pay the higher price. The installation turned out just fine in the end, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay myself by the hour.

                      A:

Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location.
                      The following cleaning principles are recommended for all of our products -Hardwood, Laminates, Corks, Bamboo and other Exotics. Outlined are examples of the reasonable and necessary maintenance to be performed; this is only intended to be a basic list;
                      • Immediately after installation, be certain that the flooring is completely cleaned and dry as described below. If you must protect the flooring from traffic, use only “craft” paper, brown, red or white, this will allow the flooring to “breathe”. Do not fully cover the flooring. NEVER lay plastic of any kind or any other non-porous material over the flooring as this can trap moisture, harm the flooring or fade the finish.
                      • Sweep or vacuum regularly, since built-up dirt, grit and sand can damage the surface of the wood. If using a vacuum, use a soft brush attachment -NOT A BEATER BAR ATTACHMENT. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. When using a broom be certain that bristles are soft. You can also use a dry mop.
                      • Because of the myriad of cleaning products available and methods of each application, Lumber Liquidators cannot endorse or oversee the use of any Brand Name of floor cleaner. We do recommend cleaning products safe for urethane finishes such as our Bellawood floor cleaner.
                      • The use of a changeable terry cloth type system to clean the floor is highly recommended; apply cleaning solution to the terry cloth not the floor.
                      • NEVER use oil soaps, liquid, or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, Tung oil, silicone, or ammonia on pre-finished flooring. The use of these products will harm the long-term performance and appearance of your floor and may affect future re-coating. (Damages caused by non-recommended cleaning products are not covered by warranties). NOTE: This also includes the use of vinegar and water solutions as water can damage wood. Vinegar is an acidic element that can have an oxidizing, caustic effect on the finish.
                      • In an effort to clean hardwood floors, many have experimented with a variety of cleaners on the market and end up with a new problem. “How to remove the build-up of cleaning products revealing the original surface"? If this is the case with you, we recommend consulting with a professional cleaner local to your area because they can best see the details involved and make the most accurate recommendations. If you choose to remove the layers of build-up yourself, use cotton rags instead of a mop to control the amount of liquid used.
                      • NEVER wet-mop, damp-mop, swab or flood your floor with water or any other product. Moisture can seep into the seams causing edge-cupping damage. Urethane floors do not require wet mopping. Natural floors are water resistant, not water proof. Remove all spills promptly using a soft, slightly damp cloth
                      • STEAM CLEANERS OR WET-JET swiffer; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend "Water brooms" "Wet-Jet Swiffers or steamer type cleaners on laminates, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in warped or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk.
                      • Do place protective mats at entry doors to keep dirt, grit, sand and moisture from being track in from the outside.
                      • Do use area rugs in heavily traveled areas and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.), especially if you have a large family or indoor pets.
                      • When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish.
                      • Take reasonable precautions; use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects such as furniture and appliances.
                      • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents. Check and replace wore pads regularly.
                      • Keep pet’s nails trimmed, and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains.
                      • Scratches, dents and cupping are site related, not considered a manufactured defect.

We bought our flooring two years ago. We didn't protect the wood where our computer is and the computer chair, consequently, has ground dirt and grit into the flooring. The area appears almost milky white where the chair rolls around. How should we fix that? Should I sand and refinish or polish or what? The area is about 4' x 4'.

If your floor becomes scratched, repairs can often be made using our "Blend Stick" floor repair putty. Other Options; our "Scratch Away" works well for general wear and tear like you describe and is easily applied (SKU 10021566)

Note: when using chairs with casters, swap out the casters with urethane casters for hardwood flooring. This way the chair won't bugger-up your flooring.

If it needs a total refinishing, hire a refinisher experienced in pre-finished flooring.

We love this flooring from LL. But every time I clean them, the spots of water sit on the top with a cloudy film. I went out and got a Bona Mop and tried using a pail of water and vinegar to cut the film. But now I have huge water spots and film. What do I use to clean these floors to bring them back to their beautiful sheen? I have Bona spray and have tried that also. Have not used just the Bona spray and mop. If the mop is put in a bucket of water it seems to be worse. Could use some advice on this.

You may have a build up of cleaner that will need to be rubbed out with a clean damp cloth. Avoid excessive water on any hardwood flooring. Don't use vinegar.

For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often. Only use cleaners that are formulated for water-based finishes with aluminum oxide.

Bellawood Cleaner works well, find it here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/s/flooring-molding-tools-accessories/floor-care-products

Be sure to use the cleaner as directed or a buildup can show dullness. Polish out buildup with a clean and damp, but not wet cloth.

Do not use oil-type cleaner of any kind.
