Comments about Clover Lea 3/4" x 8-7/8" x 8' New England White Pine:

Love the way this floor turned out. The millwork is not perfect, making it harder to install without cracks. Many factory edges were not square. However, with a little elbow grease and TLC, we have a beautiful floor. Just beware, this wood is SOFT. It will dent and mar, but that's the look we were going for in our 1850's farmhouse.

I'm an Interior Designer and decided to use this product for my own house to obtain the farmhouse look. We absolutely love it! The color and knots are perfect. We hand-scraped the edges to add more rustic character. Highly recommend.

Comments about Clover Lea 3/4" x 8-7/8" x 8' New England White Pine:

We finished our entire guest house with this flooring--great room, studio, bedrooms, baths, entry, kitchen, everything. It is a soft wood so if you're looking for impenetrable, try stone. This floor will age with you. It's a unique look at a very affordable price.

One of my favorite parts: the knots hide dirt. So even though it's a lighter wood which typically would show quite a bit of dirt, it all blends in with the beautiful knots. It's a great compromise for getting a lighter Scandinavian look with the practicality of everyday living. It's also a great compromise for my husband and I: I get a light-colored house, and he gets some knotty wood.

We did order about 20% extra material for waste. Had a decent amount left over, however, the extra material offered us a wider variety of board lengths. We took the time to pull out the long boards and used them in strategic locations. The rest we could use shorter boards for.

We sealed the pine with a water-based poly and could not be more pleased. Yes, it scratches and dents. We like to think of it as character: a record of our life here at the vineyard.

Comments about Clover Lea 3/4" x 8-7/8" x 8' New England White Pine:

We put 900 sqr feet of this pine and another narrow width in a random pattern on the floor of the great room in our lake house. It looks fabulous! We were going for a rustic industrial look. We stained the pine a dark brown custom color with blue/gray undertones and topped it with 2 coats of satin urathane. It looks natural and weathered. The imperfections and knot holes are all part of the appeal.

                Service and delivery comments:

I ordered off the website which inferred that the product was immediately available. Once I called the store to arrange pick up it was disappointing to learn that it had to be shipped on a train from a wharehouse somewhere else and that it would take over 2 weeks! Then it must sit and acclimate to the new environment for about a week prior to installation. Plan way ahead and perhaps call the local store for personal guidance. Once the bulk of the flooring arrived a miscellaneous trim piece was still on back order. It didn't come in and we made do with something we got at a hardware store. The return was as easy as a phone call to the local store. The guys at the local store were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful in every way.

So far we have used these boards in a bedroom and a bathroom as wall boards. They install quickly and sand easily and stain beautifully. We will definitely purchase more in the future.

We were pretty casual about installing the floor. We used regular nails to face nail the planks (after blind nailing) and did not rent a sander. After a DIY installation, we applied a white oil stain. After a few days we started applying a water based poly finish from a box store. We lightly sanded the grain with an orbital sander and 220 grit after the 3rd coat, then applied 2 more coats, let it cure for a week and moved in.

Yes, however you may want opt for a natural tung oil penetrating sealer such as waterlox as these types of finishes expand and contact easier with the pine wood and can be easier to maintain.

No. Generally you would use 15lb felt or White Silicone Paper. However this is a wide plank flooring. Normally hardwood, the width sizes of 2"-3 1/2" are referred to as strip floorings. Widths sizes 4"- 6" are referred to as boards and 8"- 12" are refereed to as Planks.

Because wide planks are subject to center splits, it is recommended to also secure the flooring from the top with additional fasteners, either screw and plugs, or a decorative exposed top-nail.

Strip and board hardwood generally only need to be blind nailed at the tongue. Board installations can benefit from additional back gluing. This is done by omitting the felt building paper and applying urethane adhesive (1/4" thick bead in a tight snaky pattern) with a caulk gun to the back of each board, then nail.

                                Type "Wide" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101

would this floor be recommended for a coastal home/more humid environment (indoor use)? Would this be in line with the look for a rustic beach cottage decor? Thank you.

This flooring would be a very good selection to create the look you are trying to achieve. As far as the environment, as long as the flooring is installed and finished as well as the humidity and temp are controlled you will be fine

These are measured by the board, each board will approximately 5.92 square feet and weigh in at 0.48 lbs.

I believe a penetrating oil finish helps to harden the wood fibers versus a topical coating.

This solid wood product is not designed for a glue down application (I would stick with the engineered products).
