Q:
What is the best process for cleaning birch wood floors? (oil-based, water-based, dusting unless absolutely necessary to deep clean?)1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.Q:
What is the length of the product?1 answer
A:
This is a random length wood product that comes 1’ to 3.5’ in length, the average length is about 2'.Q:
Could this be used in a commercial type office application? How would you compare the wear and tear of this product to an AC4 grade laminate?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
This flooring has it's good points for your application one of which is a very durable finish, however because it's handscraped, future refinishing would be difficult, In addition the uneven surface would be a problem with office chairs (soft urethane chair casters are recommended for any hardwood flooring). A Bellawood floor, light to medium in color and harder than red oak can work very well. Laminate flooring is good if you can get AC 4 but they can never be refinished if damaged.Q:
I'm planning to use the nail-down approach to install the hardwood floor on the second floor of my house. However, the moisture level of the plywood subfloor is 11% while the hardwood is 6%. Is the difference of 5% too high for the installation? It seems so according to the Warranty Statement. If so, will a moisture barrier, such as the 6mil poly sheeting help?1 answer
A:
Yes it is too high, for this wider board it needs to be within 2% difference.Q:
What is the best way to install wood flooring over a concrete floor with radient heating?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
When looking for solid flooring over radiant heat installations it's important to look for wood with a high stability rating or engineered flooring. Radiant heated flooring can expand and contract more than usual. This floor is Birch which is a poor performer because of a low stability rating. For details about what to look for with radiant heat installs type, "Radiant" here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/custserv/aboutus.jsp?pageName=Flooring101Q:
can be install on ceramic tile1 answer
A:
Yes it could be installed as a floating floor using our Elastilon product.Q:
Had this floor installed on concrete using the sealing glue recommended by Lumber Liquidators. What is the best method for cleaning dried glue residue? I'm concerned with using harsh chemicals as I don't want to harm the finish.1 answer
A:
Please note this is ONLY a helpful recommendation that is not guaranteed to work (but who worth a try!!!)Q:
How would you install this flooring on concrete.1 answer
A:
There are 3 ways to install this product over concrete. One is to glue it down over the slab. The second is to install a floating plywood subfloor system. The third is to use our Elastilon underlayment.Q:
Can this be nailed or can it just float? THis is going on a second story and I planed on putting down 1/4 inch luan over the existing floor to give me a smoother surface.1 answer
A:
The Virginia Mill Works Cocoa Birch can only be installed as a nail down or glue down application. To float this product you would need to use the Elastilon underlayment. It is not recommended to nail over Luan board, instead use a 1/4" plywood or just level the orginial plywood or OSB subfloor. The floor should not be nailed into particle board. Is this an engineered wood product?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
This is a solid floor.
