          Comments about 1/2" x 3/4" x 6.5 LFT Brazilian Koa Shoe Molding:

I predrilled and used hardened steel MAZE nails.
But I always do that with shoe moulding or quarter round to reduce splitting that many times comes with an air tool on hardwood.
Its a perfect match for the flooring and a wonderful transition piece that goes nicely with the golden oak baseboards, door and window trim that I reused.
The oak is thru the rest of the house and using it again in the rooms with the brazilian koa floors ties the entire house together very nicely.

What type of sanding system (equipment plus type of sandpaper or sanding screens and grit progression) would you recommend to remove the original Bellawood finish? I understand the traditional refinishing systems do not work well because of the original finish hardness.

I see that the estimator adds 10% wastage to this product, but for the hickory odd lot it adds 30%. Is this deliberate or is it normal to add 30% for odd lots and 10% for standard installation.
20% of 1000 sq feet is a chunk of money :-)

Odd lot material will have more material that you may not want to install due to its grade; may have defects including, but not limited to: splits, misgrading, unfinished areas, rough finish and mismilling.

Ash is a little more durable to denting than white oak and red oak because it has a higher janka hardness rating. The finish on the Bellawood Ash is the same as what is on the Bellawood oak flooring, so the finish would have equal durability between them.
