Q:
I plan on installing American Walnut on my lower house level on a concrete slab. I plan on using a vapor barrier on the concrete floor then nailing stringers and inserting my insulation and sub floor heating in between the stringers. Then over the stringers I will be nailing plywood and then the flooring. Will the American Walnut be adequately protected and if I heat the floor gradually to reduce stress on the floor will it reduce warpage and cracks?1 answer
A:
Thank you for writing in! I would be glad to help you with your questions.Q:
I'm interested in matching our "character grade" American walnut that includes knotholes and other imperfections. Does "natural grade" include a fair amount of such imperfections?1 answer
A:
Yes our natural grade would have such characteristics and the rustic grade would have even moreQ:
Can you install this over an existing oak hardwood floor with the grain going in the same direction? Do you need a vapor barrier between the old and the new? Best to glue or staple/cleat?1 answer
A:
You will need to install the new floor perpendicular to the old or install a layer of 1/2" CDX plywood first.Q:
What is the length of the Bellawood American Walnut?1 answer
A:

This is my choice based on look and color, but not for hardness rating on scale, what would be the closest match to this look in hardwood but with a higher rating? Brazilian Walnut?1 answer

Does this flooring dent or scratch easily? We are thinking of putting it in our log cabin kitchen.1 answer
A:
Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factor that influence wear.
