  • Q:

My laminet floor thickness is 0.575". The thickness of the Bull nose, with spacer, is 0.555". That's a difference of almost 1/4". That means the bull nose is lifted and is sitting at an angle with the overlap very suseptable to heavy foot pressure. It's a little more than 1/8" thick.
Why is the bull nose designed this way?
I am in the process of installing the bull nose now and am trying to re-engineer the whole thing. Do you have any possible solutions?
Also, the laminet flooring has a hard surface. The bull nose is a piece of paper glued on a backer material. The bull nose sees a lot of heavy shoe traffic and moving shoes. That means a lot of scuffing with maximum wear and tear. I think this is a very poor design. I just can't believe you would release this product to the public.

You can use extra shims (paint sticks work great) to build-up to make this nosing sit level.
The vast majority of laminates in the "industry" use this same material for their matching transitions.

      A:

Laminate stair nose can be used for a step or two, full staircases are generally not recommended. If used the parts need to be fully glued with 100% urethane adhesive without padding.
