  • Q:

What type of sanding system (equipment plus type of sandpaper or sanding screens and grit progression) would you recommend to remove the original Bellawood finish? I understand the traditional refinishing systems do not work well because of the original finish hardness.

  • Q:

I see that the estimator adds 10% wastage to this product, but for the hickory odd lot it adds 30%. Is this deliberate or is it normal to add 30% for odd lots and 10% for standard installation.
20% of 1000 sq feet is a chunk of money :-)

Odd lot material will have more material that you may not want to install due to its grade; may have defects including, but not limited to: splits, misgrading, unfinished areas, rough finish and mismilling.

What I would recommend is finding a Lumber Liquidators that is local to you that has this product in stock so you can see it before ordering.
Please call our Customer Service Dept. @ (800) 366-4204 to help locate a location near you.
Odd lot SUMMARY/DETAILED: Odd-lot flooring is factory seconds sold as-is. All sales of odd-lot products are final –product returns are not permitted.

NOTE: This grade description is intended only to provide general characteristics of the identified wood grade, and is not all-inclusive. Specific wood characteristics and acceptance criteria may vary by wood species.

  • Q:

This is an odd lot... Does that mean that its basically all unfinished or is it almost as good as normal flooring with just a few spots that probably wont be discernable?

  • Q:

is this wood more durable than oak and would u purchase it in place of oak flooring

      A:

Ash is a little more durable to denting than white oak and red oak because it has a higher janka hardness rating. The finish on the Bellawood Ash is the same as what is on the Bellawood oak flooring, so the finish would have equal durability between them.
