Q:I've had the floor for 5 months and I'm already noticing numerous scratches and dent that penetrate past the day stain into the light natural birch color. Any best practices or care instructions for masking these?
A:Wood floors like furniture will scratch and dent if not properly protected. It is recommended to use furniture pads (included in our cleaning kit) under the furniture legs. Pet nails should be kept trimmed and sharp objects (including high heels) kept away from the floor. Often scratches can be adequately repaired using liquid scratch covers. Dents and nicks can be filled using wood floor repair kits available at your local home store. If your floor is severely damaged please consult a professional about refinishing, an individual board replacement may be all that’s needed.
Q:I'm having concerns about cleaning the deep groove between the boards. Any best practices?
Q:Hi, we were preparing to order this product along with the matching stair nose, however we can't find treads & risers for this flooring. We would like the treads and risers to match the floor. Should we just purchase additional flooring to complete our project on the stairs? Thnx.
A:We do not have matching treads. This can be installed on stairs with stair nose.
Q:how many layers of wood (i.e., 7, or 9) and what type of finish I.E., aluminum oxide and how many coats?
A:This product is composed of a plywood core, itself made of cross-bonded wood veneer (7 ply) and a 2mm surface wood wear layer. The wear layer is finished by 7 coats of polyurethane coating manufactured by Treffert or Klumpp. Thank you for your inquiry
Q:Is this flooring scratch resistant?
A:This product is scratch resistant but not scratch proof. Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
Q:how durable is this product for dogs?
A:Despite today's advanced technology, water spills, dirt and other abrasive substances can damage a wood floor's finish. Location, traffic patterns, how often the floor is vacuumed and cleaned, children and/or pets are all factors that influence wear and durability.
Q:We just received our engineered hardwood flooring and were going over installation instructions and read not to install over particle board sub-flooring. We have 2x6 T&G sub-flooring with 1/2 inch particle board underlayment to even out flooring, since we have solid wood sub-flooring and not particle board can we install our wood over it without issue.
A:Please call our Tech and Installation Dept. @ (800) 366-4204 for a detailed answer to your question. Thank you for your inquiry.
Q:Can this and or any of these hardwood engineered floors be sanded down and refinished say 10 or 15 years down the road?
A:Handscraped can theoretically be refinished but not with conventional sanding machines. In practice it would be very laborious. One point about our handscraped, it has an excellent finish (very durable) and when the rustic profile gets beat on the flooring still looks good.
Q:is this a "click" type flooring? Or is it a tongue in groove?
A:This has a straight tongue & groove.
Q:What type of finish is on this floor? Shiny, glossy or non gloss?
A:This has a semi-gloss finish.
