While we admit we are amateurs at installing a laminate floor it's not rocket science. We found that this inexpensive floor chipped very easily as well as the tongue and groove interlocks damaged easily upon install. Maybe it was because we received product that had sat in the warehouse for 3 years (the production date was stamped on the bottom of the boxes) don't really know. All in all the final floor did look nice and most of the flaws were hidden by rugs and furniture. In retrospect, when we have more to spend we will fix the flaws and possibly buy a better quality flooring. I am going to recommend this to a friend but it really depends on the circumstances and where they are putting their floor.

I installed the 8mm padded floor in my basement. Because it was below grade, I used a padded underlayment (Quiet Walk) to help moisture control. If I were to do it over, I would have used unpadded laminate. The built-in padding and the Quiet Walk gives the floor a bit of a spongy feel.
Overall, the floor looks better than I expected. Easy to put in after I got the hang of it. Be sure to look for the installation video for tips. Very helpful.

Looked so good we decided to do another room. Was worried about color match, should not have been. I think there was one or two pieces that had slight damage on edges out of 800 square feet, not bad at all!! The attached foam backing was great. I had put down Pergo in another house with seperate backing and it was a little aggravating. The Pergo had a hollow sound when you walk on it, this stuff sounds & looks like real hardwood. Have since drug a few things across floor and no scratrches yet. Could not be happier with this floor. You won't go wrong here.

Quiet Walk Underlayment w/Moisture Barrier. It is well worth the extra investment. We had a water leak after we laid the new floor and this padding asborded a large percent of the water and we only had min. damage!! This also makes a huge difference when you walk on your floor. We only have the thin plastic underlayment in the bedrooms and you can really tell the difference. We will certainly use the Quiet Walk next time we replace the bedroom flooring.

I would recommend this to a friend with the same cautions mentioned above. Lots of choices at good prices. Don't forget to cut the door frame molding higher so the flooring goes underneath.

We are happy with the flooring so far, it was just installed for us last week. The only negative I have is about Lumber Liquidators return policy. They charge a 20% restocking fee on un-opened flooring that we returned and had only purchased it 5 days prior. Walking from the front counter to the back room behind the counter should not count as "re-stocking" especially since the purchase and return was within the same week.

We had the product installed by a Lumber Liquidators-affiliated contractor. They were able to install about 700 sq ft in one day.

Q:
Hi1 answer
A:
Due to the excessive moisture present in a full bath we cannot recommend any of our solid natural flooring or laminate products for this application, I would suggest one of our vinyl Tranquility products. We have a 2mm peel and stick and now a 4mm click together product that can go in full bath areas or where moisture is a concern. Thank you for your inquiry.Q:
There is a 3mm pad attached to the flooring I am looking at. I was told an additional layer of underlayment would help, but other places I have looked say the contrary. In an application over a wood subfloor, do I need additional pad?1 answer
A:
It is not required.Q:
I have a white congoleum flooring in my dinning area & kitchen can i lay the lam over it?If so can i continue on were the congoleum ends and once was carpeting only about 1/16th thick.1 answer
A:
Yes you can!Q:
What is the finish like on the Auburn Walnut flooring? High gloss, matte, hand scrapped, etc? Thank you!1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It is basically a semi-gloss, not as dull as matte or shiny as high gloss.Q:
will this hold up to scratching the finish from large dogs1 answer
A:
This material is a good product, of course the higher the MM on our laminates the more durable the material - the key to any flooring is to keep the nails trimmed on the petsQ:
We have no experience laying a floor. Is it easy enough for someone who is not a handy man to do it?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Some carpenter skills are generally needed for installing our flooring. There are some basic videos, tip guides, and comprehensive instructions, remember videos are generally a quick guide and should not be taken as a replacement for manufacturers instructions. Video can be helpful as general information.Q:
Is this product phase 2 compliant? I looked at Flooring 101 and the specifications sheet does not give any environmental information.1 answer
A:
The adhesive that is used in bonding our Bamboo, Cork, Engineered, and Laminate flooring products contain very low amounts of Urea Formaldehyde. We feel that our products are very safe and most meet California CARB Phase I or California Phase II regulations, which is listed on the boxes. We also list MSDS sheets for most of these products on the Lumber Liquidators website “Flooring 101”.Q:
What does a float floor mean?1 answer
A:
It means that it is not attached to the subfloor in any way such as a nailed or glued down product would be.Q:
I have an apartment that features awful thread-bare carpet and stained concrete. Due to the "floating" nature of this laminate flooring can it be installed on top of the carpet and/or concrete? Perhaps, with additional padding the underlying floors will be intact for future tenants? I just wanted to know before I pitched the idea to management. Thanks very much for your time.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Carpet and pad needs to be removed for floating flooring installation because the locking mechanism will fail if not on a solid subfloor surface. It can be installed over flat and level concrete. A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below Grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall.Q:
in regards to the AC rating... is an AC3 rating adequate to stand up against pets? dogs and cats....I can see my dog spinning her paws on this daily. will the product resist that sort of daily scratching and abuse?1 answer
A:
In reference to AC ratings, 5 is the highest AC rating you can get and that is a commercial grade rating so the 3 you are speaking of would work well for you
