      A:

15lb Felt Paper is a good vapor barrier but NOT a moisture barrier. A 6 to 8 mil poly sheeting moisture barrier should be laid for floating floors for an On or Below grade Concrete subfloor. Overlap seams 4-6" and tape with duct tape. Overlay perimeter 3-4" up wall. Then lay an approved underlayment for floating flooring. Foam Underlayment, Eco Silent Sound, Bellawood Premium Underlayment, or Quiet Walk underlayment for floating floors.

  • Q:

Why would one use this over 15# Felt? Felt is a little thicker while this Kraft Paper feels like rosin paper and could rip easily.

I'm curious why my local Lumber Liquidator store said this has replaced you 15# felt.

Yes this will work. White silicone paper may be better since it will be heated.

      A:

This is tar paper that could be used to control moisture over a wood subfloor but does not provide cushioned support to the laminate.
