This was recommended to use in an attic storage conversion that will not be temperature controlled. It looks great and does not run the risk of expanding or cracking when the weather changes.

Laid it in the kitchen. We have had this floor installed for 1 year now and there are specific places the seams keep coming apart. You can push it back together, but eventually they come right back apart. Nothing out of the ordinary when laying the floor, but now, after 1 year, I have to go back and replace about 5-6 planks that refuse to stay together. So much for the interlocking system.

Bought a bunch of this to redo floors in a 32 cabin boat I'm fixing up to live aboard. 4mm makes it thick stable enough to stay in place, and 4 foot length makes it easy to plan & place.

                    • Light Use

This flooring is beautiful. It looks better than I could have imagined. BUT. We got this floor because we have 4 dogs, 3 over 50 lbs, and we needed something that could stand up to them. Wood would have been destroyed by their toenails in no time. Laminate was not a good option because of the potential for moisture damage if one of the dogs has an accident. This stuff likely isn't going to be damaged by water or pee, but it was scratched within a few days of installation.

My dogs are maniacs and they run and play in the house, so I wasn't very surprised when I noticed light scratches right away. They aren't noticeable except in certain lighting. This was evident within days of finishing the floor, though, so I'm not sure what it'll look like in a few months or years. The only other option would have been tile, and although it would have lasted longer, this flooring is much more comfortable. It's not really cold like tile. It's kind of soft when you walk on it--not like most hard floors. We used the eco-whatever underlayment which I suppose adds to the softness. Overall I'm definitely happy with it--but don't expect this to be scratchproof or even very scratch resistant.

We had our contractor install this wonderful flooring. I watched them and it looked so easy...they used a small piece of 2x4 to click the flooring in place so it got a good seal. It looks just like wood and is very quiet.

                        • Basement

I'm a suburban mom with two teen boys and we were able to easily install this stuff with just a tiny bit of help from an experienced friend to get started. You can score and cut this stuff with a box cutter, so no power tools are required. It clicks in place and creates a perfect, tight seal. Just what we needed for a basement solution to seal out moisture and for easy clean up. I prefer hardwood in the main level of my home, but this is ideal for the basement. It seems fairly durable for light use, but the fact that it can be scored and cut so easily might be a problem if you think it might be subjected to abuse that might cause scratches or gouges. Theoretically you can replace damaged pieces, but I think that would be a major pain once the whole floor is installed.

One reason to get the vinyl is my new converted outdoor porch is now an enclosed porch and has lots of windows and in the past, I've forgotten to close them during rain storms, etc. This will not be damaged unlike wood. The sub-floor will rot before I would need to replace it.
PLUS, there is variations of temps. and humidity so this was a good price and choice. And the subfloor has imperfections and seams that would be noticed in the 1-2mm vinyl. Not with 4mm or 5mm. Thx.

I bought this product thinking it would be a time saver. Do not be mislead into thinking this is an easy install. Hardwood or laminate would be easier in my opinion.
The product is flexible and some planks are not square and true. Any imperfection in the floor may result in the plank not aligning correctly.
Overall result is good if you take your time and are careful.

TRANQUILITY may be installed with or without an underlayment. For extra sound proofing and insulation we recommend using the TRANQUILITY LVT underlayment.

I'm curious to know the dimension of the planks. Are they 6" x 48" ? What is the coating? Aluminum oxide? how many coats? What is the wear layer thickness?

Ultimately I'm looking to use this product in a basement den, bathroom and laundry room...

We are installing new flooring in a 100-year old home. We have leveled the floors as best we can, but they are still uneven. Some have new subfloors, others have old linoleum we want to cover. The home will be used for guests, so not always occupied. It is in southern Mississippi where high tems and humidity are common through much of the spring/summer/fall. We thought about vinyl planks, but do you have a different recommendation?
