Great idea, but flawed design

By Mike the Brewer

This molding requires drilling sub-floor and installing posts to hold the molding in place. The problem is there are not enough posts provided to securely install the molding. It is so lightweight that it flexes and pops out when walked upon in step-down transition, especially when transitioning from tile that may not be perfectly level. Drilling for mounting posts has to be precise if you intend to miter corners of transition molding. If not, the miters will never meet and leave sharp edged plastic toe-catchers. We finally tore up the moldings and glued them down with clear Powergrab adhesive caulking. That provided more contact area holding the molding, sealed the edges from trapping dirt, and accommodated slight imperfections transitioning to tile flooring. I'm still annoyed this multi-purpose molding is the only option.

Service and delivery comments:

Took weeks before my local store could get delivery and that caused problems with contractors in other phases of our kitchen remodel. If not in stock, order with PLENTY of lead time to have it on site in time.

We needed some type of flooring at the bottom of our split level entry. Carpet would have been to hard to maintain and I didn't want to install actual wood on top of cement. Luxury Vinyl was the perfect fit. It was a close match to the maple stairway and was easy to cut and install. I was pleasently surprised by how nice it turned out!

Multi Trim is cheap plastic

This trim is lightweight, cheap plastic. Poor quality upon installation. We'll see how it holds up.
