        Surprisingly Messy, But Effective

        • Gets the job done
        • Provides good coverage

        Cons

        • A little stinky
        • pretty messy
        • Residue Requires Clean-up

        Best Uses

        • Concrete foundation

Although the glue-down method may be less expensive than the sub-floor & nail-down method, it is probably more messy. The professional installers spent a lot of time cleaning up glue residue after the installation, noting that nail-down was definitely an easier, cleaner installation method.

Works as intended. Very messy stuff!! The best tip I can provide is with the glue process: instead of trying to pour out of the 4 gallon bucket and not pour too much each time we used cheap ladles bought at the dollar store. This worked so well because we didn't have to lift heavy bucket and it gave us better control of how much glue we used for each section.

The container size was 1 gallon less than the container/brand suggested by the installers, but he did say this is by far a superior product. Fights moisture and reduced the clacking noises...I'd recommend this to everyone. Remember to justify for the 1 less gallon per container

Recommended trowel was not found at 3 different hardware stores. Closest thing I could find was smaller teeth which led to hard spreading but thinner spread and each can lasted longer than expected. Save $150 by returning the last can. Blisters will heal.

I purchased this product for my floor installers who were installing engineered hardwood floors throughout much of my home. It was used as both a glue and a moisture barrier over less-than-perfect concrete. The installers had nothing bad to say about it and they used less than estimated.

Asphalt based adhesive are considered a bond-buster in the industry and unfortunately there are no adhesives (to my knowlege) that are compatible with it.
You will need to remove the old "cut-back" adhesive before proceeding with a glue down installation. Be aware that old adhesives can possibly contain asbestos.

We do not recommend gluedown of ¾" flooring over concrete subfloor. ½" inch or under solid or engineered may be, but ¾" can have failures. Except for Shorts or certain Virginia Mill Works floors that are 36" and under; these can be adhered.

Concrete needs to be dust free. Thoroughly clean with a floor scraper, broom and if necessary damp sponge mops (let thoroughly dry if you do this and check moisture content of concrete according to flooring manufacturers instructions). If it is powdery/chalky concrete or gypsum do not install with adhesive. Either lay a plywood subfloor over cement (instructions found at http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101 keyword "cement" ) or use Elastilon Self Adhesive Underlayment to install the flooring; easy, quick, and extremely effective.
