BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Select Brazilian Cherry Prefinished Solid Hardwood Flooring

What makes Bellawood so Unique? We carefully hand select each species from regions across the globe that are known to produce denser woods and that exemplify the species' finest qualities. That's why we say, "It's more than hardwood. It's Bellawood."

Brazilian Cherry is one of our most popular woods because of its ideal balance of rich beauty and proven durability. Its majestic colors range from a yellowish tan to reddish brown when just milled, and it deepens significantly to an exquisite deep cherry brown as it ages. For spaces that demand durability year after year, residential or commercial, Brazilian Cherry is an excellent flooring choice.
This product is proudly finished in the USA.

About "Select Grade" Flooring
Select Grade has the most uniform color with no large knots and the longest average lenght of planks. Also referred to as First Grade.

It Taber Tested "the Best." When subjected to the industry sandpaper abrasion test, known as Taber Testing, Bellawood's durability results were more than double most comparably priced floors. There's good, there's better?and then there's Bellawood.

We caught up with real Lumber Liquidators' customers who volunteered to discuss their floor shopping, buying and installation experiences. In no way did these customers receive compensation for their kind words. (They're speaking straight from the heart.)

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

Saved up for this floor after spending over a thousand dollars on Stanley Steemer to take care of existing carpets. (We have had two pets die recently with accompanying poo, pee and vomit and I could not wait to be rid of the filthy carpet.)

We did all the work ourselves to save money and it took us most of the month of March to complete. We did the entire upstairs to match the floors downstairs. But boy was it worth it! The house looks beautiful and we can clean up after pets very quickly and easily now.

The cons were that we picked up the wood ourselves in a U-Haul. It was incredibly heavy and probably not worth the money we saved. Also, this floor comes in strips and takes much longer to lay than floor that comes in planks. The first room took forever but we got the hang of it and things were much easier after that.

We took back our excess wood and underlay. The staff (Jenee and Matt) at the Cherry Hill NJ branch of LL were very easy to work with. The floor was on sale and relatively cheap (as wood floors go) and all in all we have been very pleased with everything about this transaction. The renovation was a month long nightmare but, like childbirth, you forget and the end result made it all worth it.

Finally, I cannot say enough about the quality of this floor. The color is beautiful and everyone who has seen it has been impressed! We also used the LL brand soundproofing. This seemed to me skinny and insubstantial but it is working like a charm and there is no more noise with the wood floors than with carpet.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

We had Bellawood Brazilian Cherry installed almost two years ago. I wanted to wait before posting a review so that I could comment on how well it held up.

First of all, it's absolutely beautiful flooring, and it has held up remarkably well in a household that includes three kids and a dog. We have it installed in our family room, so it gets a lot of use.

We had it installed by a professional, and I don't think it was easy flooring to install.

My one complaint is that the finish is pretty shiny, and it shows dirt pretty easily. It's easy to clean, though, but I can definitely notice smearing and dust.

Once I have the money, we'll rip out the old carpet in the living room and dining room and replace it with more of this gorgeous flooring.

      Service and delivery comments:

The delivery was a mess. It took a week of work on my end just to get the delivery company to agree to deliver the material. They were late, came in the rain, messed up the floor and rolled their eyes when asked to clean up. While stressful, I was pleased the LL took off the delivery charge.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

I installed two rooms at the same time, a 420sqft family room and a 130sqft office. Both rooms came out just beautiful! I have a large German Shepard puppy with a lot of energy, so I wanted a hard floor that would resist wear from his nails as best as possible. I was told this floor would do the trick. I keep his nails short, so when he goes to stop on the floor, there is no issue – he just slides. We have to be careful so he does not try to "get out of the gate" while on the floor or he can leave a small mark that is usually able to be buffed out with little effort.

The only true problem I have with the floor is when he drops one of his larger hard toys or soup bones on the floor. I was not prepared for this, nor did I ask the salesman, but it will leave a "dent", or in some cases, it actually "chips" the clear coat finish. The wood itself remains undamaged. Needless to say we had to eliminate these items from indoor use – dog is not happy. For this reason I would not recommend this floor in a kitchen, dining room, or any other area that is prone to objects dropped from any kind of height. The first time it chips it will make you sick!

The salesman forgot to mention to me about buying extra flooring to compensate for waste and unusable boards. He told me to keep the lot number from one of the boxes, and if (or when) I needed more that they could use the number to locate another box, but it was up to me to go get it? Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to find there are very few unusable boards. Some have imperfections on the finished side, but other than that they were all good. Fortunately for me, in my large room there was less than an inch of waste on a run if I planned my lengths out diligently. In the smaller room I was able to take the cutoff piece from one end, and use it to start the next run most of the time. Turned out I did not need another box of floor to compensate for waste, but actually had leftover.

The floor was super easy to install, and now that I look back on my accomplishments, I wish I could just keep doing more! My #1 tip would be that if you have the ability, open all the boxes (or as many as possible) at the start of the project and separate the lengths of board. Some boxes have a ton of 12" pieces and some have more long lengths. If you do one box at a time you might not get that seam flow you are looking for. The more product you have laid out and available to choose from, the better you can mix up the colors and lengths to get the best looking floor.

I miss the ability to "knock around" on the old carpet floor, but the kids are older now, my house is no longer a playground, and the look of the hardwood is nothing short of classy. No more worries of mud tracked on to the carpet; very easy and quick cleanup during all types of weather. If you have a dog, or big puppy in our case, be careful going from carpeting … they are used to flying into the room and our guy slipped one time, wiped out and yelped. They could really hurt themselves until they realize it is no longer a racetrack!

        Service and delivery comments:

I ordered the floor on the last day of the sale, December 31, 2012. I was not in a rush because I had other things to get done before I was ready to install the floor, so when I was told the floor would not be in until January 26th, I was okay with it. The end of January turned to February 2nd before I paid my bill, and when I heard nothing I called on the 2nd and was told they don't even get deliveries in on Saturdays? The salesman did some research and called me back about six hours later with a ship date of February 6th.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2-1/4" Brazilian Cherry:

This went in pretty easily. Two of use worked with a bostich air stapler, and a chop saw with one stapling and one cutting. We had a couple of bad board (warped, or cracked tongue, or just would fit) in approx 140 sq ft. Maybe 10 times in the course of the job a staple missfired and wouldn't seat all the way. Sometimes they would just kind of twist into a wire mess that would have to be pulled out. I would also recommend a pull saw to cut the jambs. We tried a multi tool and it was very slow. Amazingly the room ended on a full width board with no need to rip a board. We also had a very square room and we started even and ended even. Some of the boards are heavier and harder than other sand some just flat out fit together tighter than others. from set up to finish it took us 10 hours of work. It looks great and changes the whole look of the room. Next I have a hallway and then two more bedrooms to do.

Great product for color and rich tones. Best in a traditional setting. Get a profesional to install at least the first column squaring the room.

              Service and delivery comments:

Stock of this item is very low at most stores. we had to drive 200+ miles to get sufficient quantity to do our whole floor. Guys at the Lorton store were great. I may drive the 4 hours to get the next batch of wood.

Lumber Liquidators offers flooring brands that practice responsible harvesting. People that make their living in timber know the importance of sustaining healthy forests. Without a well-planned growth cycle, they simply are out of business. Tree cutting is monitored very carefully within a selective cutting and replanting strategy. At Lumber Liquidators, we believe hardwood flooring is a natural, healthy choice—for both you and the environment.

What is managed forestry? Flooring mills must submit harvesting plans to the local government for approval. As a part of this process, they map and grid the land affected and take an inventory of the trees (size and species) in each grid. The government will then approve the plan and the mills must cut to it. There are limitations on the number and size of each species that can be harvested from each grid and then they must move to the next grid. Once a grid is harvested, they cannot go back there until 30 years has passed. Most mills will participate in re-foresting (planting new) even though they are not required to. • Q:

I have 1100 sq. ft of the Brazilian Cherry Lite (purchased a little over 2 years ago) and have been extremely disappointed in how difficult it is to keep clean due to the finish. EVERYthing shows, including bare footprints. It looked good for about 2 days, and now it just looks dull and dirty all the time. Not to mention many of the boards are now flexing/creaking, due to non-uniform width. Very dissatisfied :(
Any help you could give me to help with the finish of the floors would be great.

Recommendations for maintaining your flooring. For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often. Only use cleaners that are formulated for water-based finishes with aluminum oxide.

Bellawood Cleaner works well and for dulled flooring due to general wear and tear use Scratch Away, find here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/s/flooring-molding-tools-accessories/floor-care-products

Be sure to use cleaner as directed or a buildup can show dullness. Polish out buildup with a clean damp but not wet cloth.

In addition, Bona Kemi makes a decent hardwood flooring cleaner.

Do not use oil-type cleaner of any kind.

I am getting ready to do my whole house in Brazilian Cherry. I am trying to decide if I should use the 3/4 inch or 3/8 inch. Is the only benifit of the 3/4 inch the amount of refinishing you can do or is their other benifits to 3/4 inch (i.e. more solid sound or such)

                        A:

Absolutely. Hardwood, engineered, laminate (higher warranty laminate is better in high traffic areas like kitchens), vinyl plank, cork, and high warranty bamboo (Morning Star) is acceptable for installation in a kitchen, but we highly recommend you put a throw rug by the sink because an excess of water can damage any floor. Like hardwood flooring, spills should be toweled dry promptly.

I plan on installing a brazilian cherry hardwood floor in the not too distant future. I really need your recommendations for the tools that I will need (I have not purchased any yet, but would like to start buying them). Also, I know that I will need some type of saw to be able to cut/trim pieces as needed; your recommendation? I am a disabled female so I will need to be cautious of tools that may be too heavy for me. Your help is greatly appreciated!

We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.

What tool and what fastener (type and length) do you recommend I use to install Bellawood 3/4" x 2-1/4" Brazilian Cherry flooring over a wood subfloor (1st and 2nd floor of house)? Also, what fastener should I use for the starter row (I have "typical" 18ga and 16ga nail guns)? Thanks!

Cleat nailers rather than staplers are recommended as they have an easier time penetrating the harder exotics. Better chance for  3/4"  may be a POWERNAIL nailer. 18 gage cleats w/model 50P and a 3/4" adapter plate can work best on very hard exotics.  Or equivalent nailer like our Norge 18ga. Floor Nailer . Use 1-1/2" to 2" cleats.

                        Not directly;
Particleboard, Luan or Masonite: is not recommended, remove or cover with 3/8” plywood.
                        • Minimum of 3/8˝CDX panel thickness is recommended when used as an underlayment over an existing subfloor.
                        • Avoid pressure treated plywood for interior use. These can have elevated moisture or latent with rot resistant chemicals.

This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.
But can be installed over other substrates using our Elastilon underlayment.
