Service and delivery comments:
No delivery, I picked the wood up myself. Only problem was they sent me home short 1 bundle after I had asked if I had it all. Just one more trip back to the store. They were very sorry and gave me a jug of wood floor cleaner for free.

Q:
First, I have refinished some hardwood floors in the past and can use the belt sanders. I am thinking that I would not have to use a belt sander, just the orbitting type floor sander for finish sanding. Am I correct in my thinking/planning, or would it need both, a light grit belt and then finished sanding.1 answer
A:
The suggested sanding sequence for Brazilian Cherry according to the National Wood Flooring Association is to start your first cut with a belt or drum sander using a 50 grit paper. This first cut should be at a 7 to 15 degree angle with the grain. The Second cut using a 60 to 80 grit on a belt or drum sander should be straight with the grain. The third cut will be with a 100 grit paper on a belt or drum sander straight with the grain. The belt and drum sander is used for big areas and an edger should be used around the walls and tight spaces that can't be reached with the belt and drum sander. Edging should be done after each cut with the belt/drum sander using the same grit paper that was used on the drum/belt sander. Last a buffer is used with an 80 grit screen paper over the entire floor. Place a 100 grit screen paper on the buffer and go over the flooring one more time. Clean up and vacuum all of the dust and you are ready to start the finishing process. It is always best to have an experience professional to perform this type of work.Q:
