Color did not match

By JohnDoe

from Arkansas

Comments about Prefinished Brazilian Koa T-Molding:

This transition has a nice finishing but even when it was labeled the same color as the floor I bought, in reality it was darker.

Comments about Prefinished Brazilian Koa T-Molding:

If you do not get your measurement from subfloor to top of laminate exactly right it will separate from channel to top. Once it is pushed into place you can't remove it without replacing it.

      Cons

        Best Uses

Comments about Prefinished Brazilian Koa T-Molding:

Layed this floor with the help of my uncle and installation was pretty simple. I highly recommend getting the kit LL sales that has the spacers, pulling tool and tapping block. Made the work much easier. I would caution to be very careful while tapping the planks in place. I ruined a couple planks on the corners by either tapping too hard or not positioning the block well. Other than that I'm very satisfied with my floor & the service I received at the West Chester store

nice product, looks great and matches floor well. It could be about a 1/2" wider and come in 8-10' pieces, would be nicer and result in less waste for customer

Do you have a flexible T-mould that will transition carpet to wood on a curve?

                  A:

Although we do not offer flexible Pre-fabricated moldings to fit curved walls, corners or a stair radius, these products can be found in flooring supply catalogues such as McGraw & Hill, Mercer, Johnsonite, in Bookstores, libraries or searched online.

About to start putting 12mm brazilian Koa in a room adjacent to a room that already has it. What are the dimensions of the T-molding? How much space do I leave between the existing floor and where I start the new room?

                  A:

The T-molding is 1 5/8"W x 1/2"H plus the track, leave a 1 1/8" space between the two floor edges.

              • Q:

I will be installling the Brazilian Koa in a long room, 40 feet. I understand I need an expansion joint to avoid runs over 27 feet. Do I use the T-molding? Also how much spacing do I leave for the expansion joint for 12 mm laminate?
Asked on 6/9/2012 by Ken from Pittsburgh, PA

                • Staff Reviewer

                  A:

Yes T-molding is the way to cover the extra expansion space.
Alllow 1/2" expansion at all vertical obstructions.

What is the required distance between the sub-floor where the track lies to the top of the finished floor? Does the molding snap into the track from the top, ie, push it down?

It depends on the thickness of your laminate.

Is it best to screw or nail the T molding in place?

                  A:

The track will get secured with screws to the subfloor first and then the T molding will snap into the track.
