    Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2 1/4" Brazilian Walnut:

Had someone install it on the 2nd floor. Very happy with the result, in terms of the colors and finishing. I had Brazillian Cherry (from Lumber Liquidators too) in my previous house and got tired of the red tones. Brazilian Walnut definitely upgraded my house.

    Service and delivery comments:

Very satisfied with the LL staff at East Brunswick, NJ, who were responsive and provided helpful advice. Prompt delivery too.

    Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2 1/4" Brazilian Walnut:

Great product and very durable. I have 4 dogs and the floor is amazing. Easy cleanup. Agree install harder than I expected but again it is a hard wood. Over all very pleased with the look it has given our home. Goodbye builder grade laminate. Now looking at pre eng floor same colors for bathroom vs linoleum.

      Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2 1/4" Brazilian Walnut:

Beautiful hardwood floor. Lots of "character" boards in each box. Love the variations in color. Definitely have to know how to install a hardwood floor. Recommend using several boards to practice with the compressed air powered floor stapler. Make sure you have enough boards for mistakes--there will be some! (Re: picture--not quite finished yet--still have to install quarter rounds and T-moldings)

          Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2 1/4" Brazilian Walnut:

This wood is very hard which can be a tremendous advantage once it is installed but it does take some skill to get it installed well. The color variants makes the choice (Brazilian walnut) an excellent one when blending with other woods all ready in the room.

          Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2 1/4" Brazilian Walnut:

We replaced carpeting that was about 25-30 yrs old with Brazilian walnut - about 1150 sq. ft. throughout the main floor of our home. The wood floor is beautful - the variation in color between the planks adds to the look. If you want a floor all the same color, Brazilian walnut is not your best choice. If you want a floor that will go with any type or color of wood in your house or your furnature, this is the floor for you.
The only negative was a significant amount (about 5%) of the planks were damaged (scratches, divots, gouges). Thankfully when our installer measured for the order, enough extra was added that we did not run out of wood.
We chose the 3/4" board due to concerns about how the thinner board would hold up and a recommendation to add a 1/4" plywood subflooring if we went that way. A quick estimation including that information showed the thicker board would end up quite competitve cost-wise with the thinner material.

We also chose to use Brazilian koa baseboards - it goes quite well with the walnut floor. Overall we are very pleased with our choices.

          Service and delivery comments:

We used a professional installer obtained through Lumber Liquidators. They did an exellent job, although they did throw a lot of sawdust all over the garage.

We had a tricky curved stair (large with a variable radius) between a hall and the living room. They managed to find a way to make it look great.

          Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 2 1/4" Brazilian Walnut:

If it's compliments on your beautifully unique wood floors you want, than this is the flooring for you. We built a custom home 6 months ago and had LL install this floor. Gorgeous! Guests have actually picked out their favorite piece - the color and grain varies in a warm wonderful way. I love it.

If it's high maintenance you enjoy, than this is also the flooring for you. The finish has a shine to it. Shine smudges! We have two children, no pets. Every little foot print, drop of water from the dish washer or water dispenser from the fridge, or slightly dirty, dusty shoe shows. The finish is dark enough that every crumb spilled shows. I have to mop at least 4x as much as I did my previous solid oak flooring. I hate it.

One thing to consider; I do have a lot of natural light in my kitchen and dining area which definatly contributes to being able to see all the smudges and crumbs. I don't clean my other rooms nearly as often.

There is no doubt that this flooring will last 50 years. So far it resists scratches well enough, but the protectant coat does scratch far easier than that old oak I mentioned. That doesn't concern me as much as the fact that it dings/chips easy. My son just dropped a Hot Wheel from the dining table and chipped the floor. It's small. Maybe only I see it...but what will the floor look like in 5 years? We do drop things from time to time.

I had this flooring installed just yesterday and all that I can say is "WOW". The whole experience was very positive. [...] I can't believe that this beautiful floor is in my home. I especially chose the Brazilian walnut because of its hardness on the Janka hardness scale but it is as equally beautiful as it is hard/durable. I especially like that the color varies because it gives the floor so much character. When I walked into the Lumber Liquidators showroom for the first time, this is the flooring sample that caught my eye first. Very exotic. I am glad that I made this choice.

I purchased a moisture meter to test the stock before installation. My sub-floor is 3/4 ply that reads 7-8% and my planks read 12-13%, at what point can I install them? They have been in the boxes in the house for almost 2 weeks.

Depending on the moisture meter and its capabilities (species specific settings)
                  The floor may be acclimated.

Brazilian Walnut has a stability rating about 7-8% greater than red oak. Not as stable as some but not bad. Narrow strip like this 2-1/4" work better than wide. For more information type "radiant" here - www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/Flooring101

They shouldn't, I 'm in a power wheelchair and have no problem with tire marks. For general cleaning a swiffer type system works best. Not one that sprays the floor however. Lightly damp is fine but never soak or flood mop your floor. Do not use steam mops. Have a no shoes policy as much as possible. Use felt pads on all furniture. Sweep often.

Bellawood Cleaner works very well, find it here - http://www.lumberliquidators.com/catalog/section.jsp?categoryId=19

What you should know about Elastilon Strong
An Elastilon-backed wood floor is much faster to install than traditional nail or glue-down methods.
Elastilon Strong can be installed on new concrete floors, handling up to 3.9% moisture content. A vapour barrier of at least 6 mil PE should be used below grade and on newly poured concrete above grade where the moisture content is above 3.9%.
Laid down with a 5/8” (15 mm) expansion gap, Elastilon Strong creates a dynamic, floating floor that expands or contracts naturally with the hardwood.
Elastilon Strong has no odor and is free of volatile materials.
                  Elastilon Strong gives cushioned comfort.

I have a son who has Huntington's Disease. He spills a lot of food and drink and cannot clean it up. Will the liquid flow thru the planks if it is not immediately cleaned up?

Yes it may and when overexposed can cause damage. You might consider a vinyl floor. These have changed over the years and are much more attractive than older types. Sheet vinyl could be the best in your situation.

The appearance is different as far as color when I compared the samples in our showroom.
The Schon Engineered is darker. I would recommend comparing for yourself at our nearest showroom to be sure before you decide or call our sales department (800) 476-0007 to order samples.

Wood is a natural product, and as it oxidizes and is exposed to
light, it changes color. Some species—American cherry, Brazilian
cherry and others, especially exotics—are known to change
color drastically. There is no way to prevent this, although
waiting as long as possible (ideally, at least six months) after
the floor is installed to place rugs can help. So can moving area
rugs from time to time. If you already have distinct lines on the
floor, though, there isn’t usually a quick fix to remove them
(even resanding won’t always remove the color difference).
The unexposed part of the floor will eventually “catch up” to
the rest of the floor, if you can live with looking at the floor
                  as-is until then.

                  Thank you for your question.
                  There are several determining factors in choosing the thickness of a solid wood floor;
product cost, height restrictions, installation method (glue down or nail), and the type of wear and tear it will get in its application. The thicker products can be sanded more times.
