Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
Installed 900 sq. ft. over a couple weekends in three areas of our house. Living room, kitchen and hallway. My wife sorted the boards and a friend and I took turns setting and nailing. This wood is hard! I used up two 12" 80 tooth carbide saw blades during the install and predrilling is required for any hand nailing. The results are absolutely stunning. Our floor has been down for about eleven months now. We have cycled throught the four seasons of indoor humidity and the flooring has been very stable. No swelling, buckling or major gaps have appeared.
We hosted our family Christmas party and everyone was in awe of the quality and luxurious appearance.
Some people may be apprehensive about wood flooring in their kitchen. Our living room, kitchen and hall are adjacent and it worked for us to use it in all three rooms. I did place a layer of protective membrane under our dishwasher to keep any moisture from affecting the wood. I used some extra pieces under the stove, oven and dishwasher. These are good places (along with closets, pantries, etc) to use rejects and cutoffs. I bought 32 cartons and experienced less than 5% rejects and some of those I was able to cut off the offensive section or end.
This floor will surely outlive me and I can understand why it is offered with a 100 year warranty. I am sure I will recoup my investment in this floor when we sell.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
My floor is the most beautiful floor I have ever seen. The colors are rich, subtle blends. It has a hint of a shine. It feels heavenly under bare feet. I had it professionally installed over felt and a wood subfloor. There are no squeaks. I had this wood installed in my living room a few years ago. I still love it. But, I do have to be careful not to scratch it because, unlike my maple floor, it is easy to see the scratches. Scratches come from dragging stuff over it without protecting the floor. EVERY furniture must have those little felt pads under them if the piece is to be moved. Also, vacuuming will pick up the grit that could scratch it if something is dragged over it. Grandkids riding clean big wheels and bicycles over it only leaves smudges which are easily mopped away. This floor is so beautiful, I am willing to be careful with it.
Service and delivery comments:
The website was not working properly when I ordered the wood. I received an error message and the page shut down. So, I called customer service to see if the order went through since I never received an email confirmation. I was told the order did not go through and I gave them the order over the phone. In a few days, I received a call from the store near my home telling me both my floors had arrived. My credit card had been charged for both the online order and the phone order. Of course, the problem was resolved but seeing as how I get someone to pick up my orders for me, I could have wound up with the problem of having someone pick up the extra wood and having to bring it back to the store. It's very heavy and that would have been costly to correct.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
Without a doubt the Bellawood Brazilain Walnut is the most beautiful floor I've ever seen! It is so rich looking and everyone loves the variability in the individual boards. Because of the varied wood tones and grain patterns, from blond to almost ebony, this flooring pulls together the multiple wood tones in my living room/dining room and even compliments our 80's style brick fireplace. Our floor has only been installed for a month now, but so far no issues with scratches from our two active dogs ranging in weight from 30-50 pounds. The only negative we've found so far...white dog hair really shows up. I am vacuuming daily but it is worth the effort. We had the floor installed professionally and aside from taking longer to install than expected, there were no major problems and very little waste. We couldn't be any happier with our purchase.

Do not try to use a brad nailer to install the boards near the edges of the room. It will most likely not even puncture the wood.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
We did the entire house (except kitchen, bathroom). The floors are absolutely gorgeous! I was a little worried because the floor sample at the store had no variation and was not the best color(really yellow). Our sales guy was great and assured me we would get the variation we wanted. So glad we went with these!!
Service and delivery comments:
Salea team was incredibly friendly and helpful at the Fenton MO store.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
The result IS a beautiful floor, but if you are going to install it yourself, be ready for a lot of time sorting and such. There are so many different sizes and colors you need to pay attention so the joints and common colors don't get stacked close. It almost ends up a large puzzle... I think the ratio of short boards to long boards per box should allow a few longer boards. Also, the boards do crack easily and there are varying widths and some thickness'... Gaps will be there and some will grow after a season change.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
Be CAREFUL this Brizilian Walnut has A LOT or green in it. I was shocked at just how green it really is. My husband and I bought a carton to see what it looked like in a larger sample. I am so glad we did. Although this floor is very beautiful, it is very green with many boards in bright orange as well. Buy 1 carton to try it before you buy it!

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
This is a very hard/ dense wood which also makes it heavy. Must be careful because edges will easily dent or split because of the hardness. Did not like the varrying board widths, which left occassional gaps. Guess this could be remedied if you took a lot of extra time to try and match board widths. The colors are beautiful and looks great with new bedroom set. I love it and may use in other rooms. Would have given five stars if boards were more consistent.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
These floors are absolutely gorgeous! The range of light to dark colors looks terrific & adds depth and visual interest in the entryway & small living room of our 100 year old house. I am a bit disappointed in the hardness of the floors. Frankly, they do not seem to be noticeably harder or less prone to scratches and dings than the 100 year old wide pine planks that this floor covered up. We have had the floor for about two months now & there are already many more blemishes than I anticipated from ordinary things like falling toys, etc. Overall, I am pleased with these floors; they are just not quite as indestructible as I anticipated based on the information I had prior to my purchase.

Comments about BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut:
Classy & rich---YES! We struggled with a choice for 1987 home with red oak cabinetry--and it is gorgeous. Our home is updated now, and the maintenance is actually easier than my prior light Pergo flooring. Its like getting a whole new house! We had pros from LL do the install. They were wonderful. Costs more, but worth it!

Q:
What is recommended care for this product?1 answer
A:
We can only recommend our Bellawood Floor Cleaner, or cleaners that are safe for water based urethane finishes. Never use any polish, wax, oil soaps or cleaners that add shine to the floor. In addition, we do not recommend using steamers or wet-jet cleaning systems for hardwood because spraying can collect moisture in between board edges. The use of these products is at your own risk.Q:
I've heard from other suppliers it's not reccommended to use exotic hardwoods, especially Brazilian Walnut, in widths greater than 3-1/2" in climates where the home is heated for four months or greater yet I see many of your positve reviews on 5" material coming from states far north of Maryland where I live. What's your opinion?1 answer
A:
All wood products (regardless of width) are affected by environmental conditions, especially prefinished materials.Q:
Can this product be used on a screen porch?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
No. Wood flooring is a dynamic material subject to changes in dimension as a result of changes in humidity in the surrounding environment. It is recommended that the rooms that will have refinished wood installed be climate controlled with temperatures of 50 to 80 degrees F., preferably 65 to 75 degrees F. humidity of 35% to 55% maintained. In addition, the rooms should not be closed off from a normal air flow. Therefore with prefinished flooring, you will experience problems in a non-environmentally controlled area. Our most stable flooring is our engineered, bamboo, and laminate. They too recommend climate control in their expressed warranty's.Q:
can the brazilian walnut product be floated over concrete and can it be installed over the heated floor system?1 answer
A:
This is a solid 3/4" product designed to be nailed to a wood substrate.Q:
Is the supplier of the BrazWalnut FSC Certified? Is it U.S. Lacey Act compliant (I would assume so). Does this wood floor (1500 sq ft) with Eco Silent Sound HD add to LEED credit on a newly constructed residence? Except for a "rating" what does LEED credit do for a home? I have received sample and plan on ordering in 2 or so months from your business. Thank you.1 answer
A:
Lumber Liquidators is committed to responsible business practices as a central operating philosophy of our company. To that end, our lumber sourcing complies with U.S. laws and regulations including the Lacey Act, which prohibits the illegal trade of wildlife, fish, and plants, including lumber.Q:
what is the sheen on the wood? we are looking to match it with another brand. That brand has a 40% sheen on it.1 answer
A:
This Bellawood Select Brazilian Walnut Prefinished Solid Flooring offers a 60 % gloss.Q:
Will the color of this wood darken or fade over time?1 answer
A:
All wood species can change color over time due to oxidation or when exposed to light. In some species, the change can be more dramatic and may darken in color over time, while others tend to lighten. Currently there is no known value set for Patina or color change of a species so contractors and or customers should be aware of this normal condition. The patina process is unrelated to the urethane finishes.Q:
Where is the finish applied? Is this made in the USA?1 answer
A:
The finish for the BELLAWOOD 3/4" x 3-1/4" Brazilian Walnut is applied in the USA. The wood comes from Brazil but it is finished in the United States.Q:
What nailer do you recommend I rent from Home Depot to install this hardwood? What size Porta Nails? I'll have felt and insulayment underneath (purchased from Lumber Liquidators).1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Brazilian Walnut is 182% harder than red oak. Cleat nailers rather than staples have a better chance of penetrating the harder exotics. Better chance for 3/4" may be a POWERNAIL nailer. 18 gage cleats w/model 50P and a 3/4" adapter plate can work best on very hard exotics. Or equivalent nailer that shoots 18 gauge cleats.Q:
How much does one box weigh?1 answer
