Mayflower- 5/16" x 5" Bund Birch- Prefinished Engineered Flooring- 10 Year Warranty

Mayflower engineered flooring is constructed with a real hardwood veneer atop a core consisting of layers of plywood. The core layers are precisely stacked with the grain of adjacent plies perpendicular to each other. This construction design provides greater stability as each layer offsets the next to counteract normal movement as the wood responds to the effects of moisture and temperature changes.

Don't be afraid to save money....

I had 1,100 sq feet of bund birch, installed in three rooms of the house yesterday. Initial price dropped significantly, and I decided to go for it, including the great room. I absolutely love the product. Looks fantastic, and the installation was much faster then I had believed possible. They were there on time, and worked to make me happy.

Love these floors!!! Beautiful, stunning, and such an upgrade from the floors I had before. :) I love them. Just seemed to take forever to install; we installed 800 sq ft over 2 days. We had a lot of tricky cuts to deal with though. Love my floors!! :)

Looks good, but...

Pros

  • Easy To Install
  • Very pretty

Cons

  • Chipped Within One Day

Best Uses

Used in our living room to replace carpet; the color and finish of the floor look beautiful. There was an odd look to the edge of one plank after a day or so, and the next morning it chipped up. While examining it, I saw that another board had chipped a smaller bit on one corner. I'm kind of heartbroken. The floor was so lovely. I suppose we'll fill them somehow and then use a rug to cover them up. If we'd had any indication that the big chip plank was a 'bad' board, we'd have skipped it. There were plenty of planks left over. It's in the center of the room. I'm very sad.

    Nice looking Flooring
3/4" Thickness is great for traffic
Light color opens up the space
I researched price, and Lumber Liquidators was about the lowest for this quality.

There were some marks from markers, but they came off easily
Lots of shorts, but floor looks great.
Not so happy about 30 day return policy, but will see what they say about returning after 50 days.
Had to go to 2 different stores to complete my order. They would not consolidate at one store unless I paid a hefty shipping charge.

Make sure the store you are actually picking up from knows about the whole purchase before you go if you have set it up through their corporate office.

Last month I remodeled a bedroom with Bellawood Brazilian Chestnut flooring. When I decided to remodel the adjoining bedroom, I wanted a slightly darker color because of the antique furniture in that room, but something that would be in the same range as the Brazilian Chestnut. The Bund Birch flooring fit the bill perfectly, was very affordable, and, because of the wider boards, took only one day to install.

We bought our 1800 sq ft home and wanted to replace the carpet for hardwood. I bought this product because of the price, very affordable. When we got the boxes home I was shocked at how THIN the wood actually is. Installation was a breeze for the contractor and crew. The floor looks beautiful; however, it scratches SO easily! I have two toddlers and two dogs and almost every piece of exposed hardwood already has a scratch on it! When I run the vacuum (my Dyson) the wheels sometimes scratch the wood. Now in hindsight I wish I would have taken the time to research hardwoods and would have spent the additional couple of thousand dollars for a higher-end product. Also we installed the floor in June 2013 and now its January 2014 and the floor is starting to separate in some spots, from change in climate and humitidy I guess?

We installed the Bund Birch in our Foyer, Living Room, Dining Room, and Powder Room. It looks great We get all kinds of compliments on our new floors. Everyone loves the color and comments on the quality of the wood. In the spring we are planning on install the Bund Birch in the rest of our house. Delivery was fast and the people at our local Lumber Liquidators store were very pleasant and very helpful. I was hesitant because of the low price of the wood but I am glad I didn't let that stop me. I got great looking, good quality pre-finished hardwood floors in my house for a great price! Not to mention the resale value it added to my house. Thank you Lumber Liquidators!

                  A:

Unfortunately this factory finish is not available in a can for retail sale. I would recommend bringing a scrap piece of the flooring to a paint store and they should be able to match the gloss level for you.
I would recommend a water based floor grade finish.
To restore the original shine of a solid hardwood, bamboo, cork, and engineered floor a screen and re-coat may be needed or a complete refinishing. A professional sand and finish expert would have to make the determination on site on which sanding process will be needed or which can be done to restore the floors shine. Not all engineered floors can be refinished because of having a thin veneer layer.
                  Thank you for your inquiry.

Yes, hardwood is acceptable for installation in a kitchen. It is recommend to put a throw rug by the sink because an excess water can damage wood. You will need to wipe up any water that sit on the floor as soon as possible. Thank you for your inquiry

An Expansion gap or space must be left around the perimeter and at all vertical obstructions. This space is
normally the same as the thickness of the new flooring, for example; 1/2” flooring requires 1/2” expansion.

Room areas exceeding 30’x30’ expansion space is ¾” No spans or connected flooring can be greater than 40’ in any direction without an expansion break. Engineered flooring with a 1/8” wear layer or more will be able to be refinished at least once. If the engineered product has a 1/16” wear layer a professional sander may be able to refinish it, but many won’t take the chance in case they make a mistake and take too much off the wear layer. We recommend that hardwood floor refinishing be done by a professional and if your not sure if you can refinish your flooring have professional sand and finish expert come to your home and evaluate your flooring. Thank you for your inquiry.

Engineered flooring can be screened more times than sanded. Sanding is possible however because of the thin wear layer, care has to be taken not to sand deeply.
